I loved Dragon Quest XI. It just made me feel like I was in a grand adventure, and honestly like a kid again.
This is exactly how the Dragon Quest series makes me feel. Like going back to being a kid.
It feels so easy and light to play. Good to forget the rest of the troubles of the world

Exactly! This proves that even new games can be great and old games are not great because of nostalgia but because they were actually good.
Yes I have yet to play a Dragon Quest game that I did not like. I still have more to go, tho. So far, 11 and 8 are my favorites but I have 7 and 9 on my someday-list, and the spin-offs. Number 11 in particular was just the right amount of difficulty, being neither too easy nor annoyingly hard. Also a very respectable length of gameplay.

GOD TIER MUSIC + GOD TIER GAME = A FUCKING MASTERPIECE
This game gave me so much and made me feel so much, anytime I hear the overture I feel like my soul is reinvigorated and I'm ready to start the day. I love it so much.
In 2020 Japan should use the overture to open the Olympic Games, I mean, the spirit stands for Love, Courage and Friendship, why not?
Not to mention you have no idea how many people will burst into tears once they hear this overture at such occasion.
As much as I love the music, Sugiyama is problematic (aka a huge asshole) and I doubt Japan wants any controversy at their Olympics. China and South Korea would really be bothered having a war crimes denier involved with such a large part of the program.

You can get them on PC I figured that out after about 5 hours I figured there must be something so I looked it up and turns out I was correct.

This was my first JRPG. I played the demo on the switch on a whim because my friend was playing and I enjoyed playing Hero in smash. I now have over 85 hours on 1 playthrough and about 70 on my newest (just reachest act 3). This was my gateway drug into JRPGs. They say you never forget your first and there is no way I will ever forget Dragon Quest 11 S echos of an elusive age
easily one of the best games i’ve ever played, already have over than 100 hours on my switch and i hope they make more of these, greetings from portugal 🇵🇹

Ik Im 2 years late but this series is super popular, just not as much in the west. In Japan its the biggest thing ever basically, theres even a law that forbids dq games from coming out in the middle of the week since too many people would call in "sick" from work
@@billycumcamp6104 I am aware that it is popular in Japan. Which is why I wished it was more wide spread way sooner. My first encounter with the series was with dq 9 years back when it was advertised here. I become so invested that I waited for more but was bummed that dq still didn't take off much in the west at the time. Imagine my excitement years later when I heard the trademark dq theme on TV from across the house. I dropped everything I was doing and was in the living room in mere seconds.

This is the firs Dragon Quest I've ever played and it was an absolute master pice!!! The Story is absolutely epic and incredibly rich. The soundtrack is amazing and the art, landscapes, animation and personality of the characters is amazing. I was a bit used to the soundtrack since I watched the anime of Dragon Quest Dai no daibouken, which has some of the same soundtracks used in the game! Totally epic!! :))
The hero design, though, is awful. It is the worst one compared to all the heroes Dragon Quest ever has. Look weak and stupid. Zero charm. None of hero quality whatsoever. A hero just because of a given plot. The worst Toriyama ever created. In fact, the only bad one.

Soundtrack is one of the most important aspects of a video game, especially of an RPG. Because of that, having the low quality soundtrack in DQXI accomany you to 100+ hours of the gameplay certainly influences the overall experience.
DQVIII full orchestrated soundtrack is one of the main things what made that game for me, and probably what influenced it to become then one of the most favorite games of all time. I really would like if they at least could release the orchestrated soundtrack for the DQXI at least as the DLC. We can listed to it on youtube or other places anyway, so it is not like it is protected in that manner, and having it as a DLC would definitely pay out mroe for both Sugiyama and Square Enix.

My first Dragon Quest was DQXVIII, on the ps one. I was in shock because before playing DQ, i don't have any idea that the character design was Akira Toryama. Fall in love with this series since then. And today i will play DQXI for the first time. I'm sure that i will enjoy this game soo much!!!
One of the best game I've ever played. And definitely the best Dragon Quest so far! Loved every aspect of it. I don't own a Switch though, but I would buy a "2D version" DLC and play it all again, but old-school style!!

This was my first DQ game, and what's weird is that I don't even remember caring that much for the demo. Just decided to take the plunge after seeing some reviews, but man am I glad I did. What a great game with plenty of charm to go around.

I just recently finished this game (DQXI), and it was fantastic. Near perfect game. I hope they don't change way too much for DQXII like game companies have been doing lately, ruining their franchises that people have loved for decades. Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing or warranted.
Fell hard for this game!! I wanted to play Dragon Warrior from the Nintendo US version (Dragon Quest in Japan) found this game and CAN NOT PUT IT DOWN! (how many times do we have to beat Mordegon?? lol) I want to state how much I love and listen to video game music on a daily basis and I am a hard core Zelda fan with all of its orchestra music, attended the 25th Symphony of the Goddess concert live and overall seek out this type of music. So when I found this game I knew I had to find the cd. Unfortunately it's pretty expensive as this game came out awhile ago and I missed it so finding it online right now has been a blessing. I plan to save up and get this soundtrack because it is amazing! Hail to the RPGs!! Currently listening to it on SoundCloud and all my Okami and Zelda music as well! Best stuff ever!

Sep 2018: Played it, loved it but stopped playing it after awhile. Was doing a boring a part I guess.
Sep/Oct/Nov 2019: Regretted that I stopped playing it, started it again and loved it up to the ending. Was happy to know there was more stuff to do in the game.
Feb 2020: Carried on replaying it and enjoying it.
Sep 2020: Planning on doing the finale and completing it.

Luminary is badass because he just goes in there not knowing anything about his future and gets arrested but still manages to fight through the opposition to save the world and forgives Hendrick even though he tried to kill him which is what a true hero would do
Hendrick saved the entire Cobblestone population and deeply apologized for what he did wrong even though he did it out of loyalty to his King so that probably was why the Luminary gave him a 'Yes' in the End
Knowing there is an actual orchestrated soundtrack for DQ11 that isn't in the actual game makes me fucking depressed. I really need a mod that fixes this asap.

EmulatorShake 100% agree. This orchestrated soundtrack is great, but it's extremely out of place for the low detail visuals and simplistic aesthetics of the game itself.

初のドラクエが小学校の頃に出てたナインで、あんまりハマらなくてとちゅうやめちゃったりしたんだけどそれは仲間とのも思い出がゼロだったせいなのかもなぁ。
親がドラクエ好きだから全シリーズ持ってた。新しいドラクエ面白いらしいしやってみるかーと思ってやったらやばい泣いた…
それからドラクエってこんな面白いの！？って思ってエイトをプレイして、ファイブをプレイして…次はスリーかセブンをプレイしてみようと思う。
イレブンはドラクエを大好きにさせてくれた素晴らしい思い出のゲームです。

I played the switch demo of this game and It was an amazing experience. It was a demo every JRPG should do, and I am glad I avoided spoilers for the definitive switch version, soon I will pre-purchase it and wait till it releases on the 27th. I highly recommend people to play the demo, it is a great introduction to the dragon quest series, especially my little brother and sister who did not get into the series liked 11 so far and are as excited as I am.
Oh and the music has grown on me, I like to do my homework while listening to it.

Im portuguese and this is the game of the year, also can't get it why people do not like the music, i mean, it can easly put you in a semi-meditative state so you can get pleasure from all the details the game as to offer you. Love this music. Grew up playing Dragon Warrior 1,2,3,4 (which is Dragon Quest). Great that this games trial let you move your progress to the paid game for Nintendo Switch. When I'm not listening to this album, I am listening to "DragonFly Dragon Quest Dance Remix" (fortunately, my wife knows just enough Japanese I could buy his CD).
Played FF7 got bored then played DQX1 game after and fell in love The best game ever. Way better then FFX. Better music, better gameplay, longer story.
The hero design, though, is awful. It is the worst one compared to all the heroes Dragon Quest ever has. Look weak and stupid. Bland and boring. Zero charm. None of hero quality whatsoever. A hero just because of a given plot. The worst Toriyama ever created. In fact, the only bad one.
Why a lot of people think this soundtrack is bad is seriously beyond me.

@Raul Rojas Sugiyama isn't blocking anything. They even gave away the orchestrated music with the special edition of the game, so clearly he's not blocking it. The localization team is the one who didn't bother to put it in the game (same as DQVII and VIII). Please stop pushing these unverified rumors.
@@maxis2k You must have liked what was announced for the DQXI-S OST, but the JP release doesn't have orchestrated music in-game either, so the localization team isn't the only one to blame here
The Japanese release of every DQ game has synth the first time. The Switch version has orchestrated music this time, so the west is getting it as well. Which only further proves that Sugiyama wasn't "blocking" anything. It's more stupid because Sugiyama has the same rights to the synth version. So if he wanted to be an "asshole" like people keep claiming, he would just block the synth music as well.
The soundtrack is amazing and just for that it's one of my favorite game (and for Erik, I love him so much)
He is easily the best Lancer in the DQ series, so likeable. One of the rare characters that, when the game is over, you think "Man, I wish I could be friends with that guy." Very well written.

the soundtrack made us buy the game.
we have a nice surround sound system. It's a joy to hear a lively orchestra full of talented players when traversing the game.
How much does it cost to hire the Tokyo orchestra to make this soundtrack???

The orchestral recording is SO much better than the MIDI versions of the PS4 and the un-modded Steam release. Truly a shame. This remains the first game that I actually turned off the music after about 10 minutes of playing. I really wish they could've worked something out to let the rest of us enjoy the music in-game officially.
I dont really know composers but I was thinking this game sounded a lot like Space Runaway Ideon and sure enough it's the same composer and the same band. Feels neat to recognize someone's style.

This is the real orchestrated version I was waiting for! The one I heard earlier posted sounded like polyphony! Lol! This one right here is much better!! I hope they put this one in the game for us in America and the West!
THEREALGAMER Mii I doubt it will be in the game. I think theirs a higher chance of getting DLC for it but it's slim as they're selling the deluxe edition with the orchestrated version on DVD or CD. I'm really upset saying that, I love this music so much more than the midi gameboy advance music.

Call me crazy, but since the only other dragon quest games I have played have been 6 and 9, I am actually a bit more predisposed to the MIDI files in-game. I might try the mod that puts this in, but I have no problem with the MIDI files.

me neither.. i didnt even notice until i saw a yt video raging about it XD honestly the game is so unbelievably good it tried to make a good balance between old and new style dragon quest chracterisms. after hearing the symphonic suite i think it was better but honestly it is fine how it is! i like retro game music!
I’m sure I wouldn’t have caused a ruckus about the Midi stuff, but I’m gonna have to say that the orchestral suite is objectively better in every aspect musically. The only advantage I can see the MIDI having is maybe nostalgic, but the orchestral suite brings me to tears every time, it’s so well-done.
We bought Dragon Quest 11 Echoes and Elusive Age for Sony PlayStation 4. I played and beat the game recently. Awesome role playing video game (I played on an old tv:( good characters I liked the female and male warriors and healers. I liked the Hero (the Luminary). Erik, Serena, Veronica, Eriks sister, Hendrik Rab Jade Sylvando and others. story music turn based battle system was fun. awesome enemy monsters and final boss fight was tough!. The abilities and magic spells were helpful in beating the game :)

Listening to this music while playing the game, really sold the "going adventuring" theme for me. Listening to it now, outside the game, makes me remember that feeling. I want to play the game again, and I will, only not soon. I need to forget everything I can about it before doing it again. But, damn! I miss these characters. I miss Veronica and Sylvando and Dave. I miss Serena and Erik and Rab.
