Zero to headgasket time, LOL!! Man you made my day! That was a GOOD one! I drove Cadillacs for about 30 years. After a Cadillac with a "Deathstar" in it, I have driven Volvos ever since. Have a great day! And thanks for making mine. (:
To me, 1995 was the last year of the good Cadillacs. In 1996 they went over to Northstar, and later the big boat went away. My favorite brand of car right here.
@Rvangel D I had a reply up but apparently that went who knows where. I'm aware that's not a Northstar car, Jay always makes reference to the Northstars in his Cadillac videos though lol
When Cash for Clunkers was going on in 2009, I worked at a Chevy store as a porter. After a tech replaced the oil with silica, I got to take the clunker out back and blow up the engine by flooring the gas pedal with the vehicle in park or neutral until the engine seized. Did a Deville of this vintage once, the new body with the 4.9 It really was a shame, because it only had like 90k miles, and was in near spotless shape. That 4.9 withstood a solid 3 minutes of bouncing off its rev limiter, with a crankcase full of sand before it died. Most engines survived way less than a minute.
Melt a bar of dove soap overnight in a bowl of water, and apply it and gently rub with a soft brush and cloth to the leather, rinse with water, and the leather will look like new. Follow it up with unscented pledge furniture polish to shine and protect.
I have used Murphy's Oil Soap and water with a little elbow grease when it was really dirty. Then I dried with a towel, followed by a shine/protector product.
Literally bought a 1994 cad DeVille with this 4.9 three years ago and I paid $600 in rural NY and it’s been my daily driver for that time. Bought at 128k and it’s now at 185k. Great car! Reliable, great in snow, and built like a tank
Those 4.9 Caddy V8's are really in demand by Fiero customizers. The engines use the same mounting brackets as the 2.8 V6's. The V8 really transfoms that little car.
That's a lot of car for not a lot of money. The interior is nice and tidy with no rips or splits in the leather so I'd say that one has had an easy life and has been kept out of the sun when it was parked. With a thorough clean and polish and little more than a thorough service that one should easily be good for another 160,000 miles of highway cruising. It looks very rust-free for a car from a period when GM rust resistance wasn't at its highest...
Damn! The body on that is perfect! That would be a worthy save even if it didn't run. Other than the leaky brake line and the power antenna not working, it seems to need only a radical cleaning, inside and out, especially with all that junk in the trunk.
Yup 1995 was the last year that the Cadillac Deville had the older design 4.9 liter engine. The Deathstar motors were standard the next year in all Deville models. That car would clean up right up with minimal effort and look cherry.
Thats a winner especially with the 4.9L . Wasn't even aware Cadillac had that 4.9 that late. The paint would buff out on it too, entire car would clean up quite well.
Someone need to buy that beautiful Cadillac for me I would be very grateful for it . Don't let it go to be crushed or sold for parts . I love that beautiful Cadillac. I'm in Charlotte NC. Thank you so much . God of heaven bless you.
Jaysmart if I was local I would buy that car in a hurry! These are great cars! All of the 93, 94, 95 & 96 Deville Concourse are Northstar. If is a standard Deville like this body styles 94 and 95 will be the amazing 4.9! I believe that all of the 96 Devilles are Northstar. Jay don't forget that the 4.5V8 in the 88-90 FWD Cadillacs are great engines too! That car will make someone happy! I give it a 10 on the save-it-scale!
*damn that's not bad for $700.00 the fact that it starts and runs at all as a 95 is awesome and that one didn't get the Northstar P.O.S until later like 98-2000 . i figure that'swhy you weren't showing the vin. that one has less miles on it than my 06 escalade does. of course my escalade comes with the 6.0L LS2*
DaddytechEnt Check the RPO sticker in your glove box “Service Parts Identification” it’s in alphabetical order. LQ9 = 6.0 truck engine, along with the LQ4 which was similar. LS2 not available in trucks.
DaddytechEnt I hate to say this but my father had a Northstar Cadillac Deville sedan and it never gave us any trouble’s and he drove it to Vermont and back multiple times
Better call Saul! The value is probably going up. The last true Cadillac in my opinion. That song though lol. Did it sell? You totally caught me on the Northstar comment #edited
This is a pushrod V8... the Caddys with the Northstar engine usually have the Northstar badging on the back... as for the blown-gasket problems, I've heard that it's mainly the 1997-99 models with the Northstar engine that had that problem, which Cadillac corrected in 2000...
Damn, why I am not living in America ?? That's a nice looking Caddy, and that convertible GT Mustang. That Caddy will be a nice ride for someone, and cheap.
Absolutely beautiful car. If I didn't already have a 91 I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Might still sell it to me if the price came down, I have no self control with bargains.
I wish I had more yard space and wasn’t so far away, I love them big rides! I’m a ford fan wouldn’t trade my old lincoln town car for it but I’d add it to my collection if I could! Hopefully somebody will save it.
OMG I WANT THAT CAR SO BADLY!! 1 IT PLAYED MY FAV SONG ON THE RADIO 2 IT ACC HAS AN UP TO DAT RADIO 3 IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SLEEK 4 its just the best car anyone could have for 700
I know a guy who has a 95 deville as his daily driver. it's the newest vehicle he has. he also has a 90 deville. I don't know if he's ever bought a new car and has probably saved enough to buy another house by not buying new cars every 3 years.
That is how you do it. If you spend money on new cars that lose 30% in value the second you drive off the lot you are either very stupid or just have enough money to burn. If you have to finance it you can´t afford a new car but most people still buy new cars on credit without realizing they owe more than the car is worth from the get go. I would never buy one of these plastic crap cars of today new, they are disposable junk that doesn´t last anymore. I rather spend the money on classics (cash!) and had always great value, even as daily drivers.
Gary Sir I just bought this Car in California where I live before going to N.Y and it's the same but Mines is sky blue and I just watched The Seinfield episode on UA-cam because of You thanks for sharing info good eye and memory know anything about this Car?
I knew it wouldn't have the northstar engine in it if you were filming it it is rare for you to do one on a northstar probably because they aren't running lol
It's amazing what people throw away. Not a gm fan but even I can't see why anyone would ever scrap something that nice. Needs a brake line.... so you junk it? Maybe it's been problematic all it's life who knows
Nice ride Jay, but what's the progress on the Galaxy and sn95 Mustang??? Have you all recovered from the Holidays??? I may be in the minority but I like your weather!!!
I miss my 97 deville, I drove my now late father in it after he lost his license, I would have kept it but due to my low funds and it is a gas guzzler after all. So I was force to trade for something more economical!!!
Cool car , but I bet that even though GM cars did share parts , you'd pay Buick prices for the Buick and a small fortune for the Cadillac , for the same part , would still buy it though , too bad I'm in a whole other country , it would be a awesome road trip though .
I actually have the same your Cadillac Sedan DeVille with a 4.9 liter V8 runs great only issue I'm having at the time maybe you could help locating and replacing the relay switches and or fuses for the cooling fans for the Dual cooling fans where the hell is the future that can't find me the trunk can't find him in the hood is there a third box
It's a 4.9L pushrod V8... the last year of this motor before all Devilles received the notorious Northstars with the headgasket issues...
The body is in amazing shape for a 95. Leather seats look almost impeccable. Somebody loved this Caddy.
Dan 57 but the owner after that didn’t take care of it
It depresses me seeing how much nicer these scrap cars are than anything I've ever owned.
Zero to headgasket time, LOL!! Man you made my day! That was a GOOD one! I drove Cadillacs for about 30 years. After a Cadillac with a "Deathstar" in it, I have driven Volvos ever since. Have a great day! And thanks for making mine. (:
3713msg me too
You made a good choice for going to a volvo
3713msg haha I have a Volvo too it’s a 2007 s40 turbo, I’m 17 so it’s my first car
700$ for that is a steal lowkey
I got the same car and it's a 4.9 and what's crazy is I freaking paid 700 for it 😂😂😂 frfr and I have it now it's gold 😆
To me, 1995 was the last year of the good Cadillacs. In 1996 they went over to Northstar, and later the big boat went away. My favorite brand of car right here.
Northstars are superb milkshake machines.
But its not a northstar duh
Its not a northstar
Northstars rarely if EVER mix oil and coolant. Fake news.
Easily overheated and damaged for life..but they are more famous for that 3k timing chain service every 60k and can jump time prior to 60k
@Rvangel D I had a reply up but apparently that went who knows where. I'm aware that's not a Northstar car, Jay always makes reference to the Northstars in his Cadillac videos though lol
0 to headgasket time......lol!
65f100352 fail no Northstar
lee morley jr I know it's not a Northstar. I just thought his comment was funny.
65f100352 i award you half credit
I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Too bad your too far away from AZ. That car is clean. Excellent video Jay
i live in arizona love cars here i am in the white mountains u in phoenix bud
I live in England I wish I had cars like this here
Australia here. I can buy its Oz equivalent: Holden VS Statesman Caprice, but it would be more than $700. That Cadillac is "bang for your buck".
You mean in AZ you can’t find the same car in mint condition with 25k miles from an old person? This one isn’t that nice.
MAZDA 323 NUT same I live in England
When Cash for Clunkers was going on in 2009, I worked at a Chevy store as a porter. After a tech replaced the oil with silica, I got to take the clunker out back and blow up the engine by flooring the gas pedal with the vehicle in park or neutral until the engine seized.

I had a 95 Cadillac Seville sts with that engine, Did great burnouts. I miss that car.
Melt a bar of dove soap overnight in a bowl of water, and apply it and gently rub with a soft brush and cloth to the leather, rinse with water, and the leather will look like new. Follow it up with unscented pledge furniture polish to shine and protect.

Nice caddy, And yes add this to your car collection! Hello from West Palm Beach, FL.
Absolutely loving that Vaccum Fluorescent instrument Display. Class.
Way too nice to scrap. Hope someone buys it.
Literally bought a 1994 cad DeVille with this 4.9 three years ago and I paid $600 in rural NY and it’s been my daily driver for that time. Bought at 128k and it’s now at 185k. Great car! Reliable, great in snow, and built like a tank

Rust resistance was perfectly fine. I think you are confusing it with Japanese cars during this time when they tended to rot everywhere.
That's a damn clean caddi. Very straight car. Love it
You give that thing a detail! DAMNNN DUDE THATS A NICE ASS CAR
What a great way to start the weekend, a new Jay Smart video and a Cadillac :D
same
Damn! The body on that is perfect! That would be a worthy save even if it didn't run. Other than the leaky brake line and the power antenna not working, it seems to need only a radical cleaning, inside and out, especially with all that junk in the trunk.
Beautiful! I'd buy it but I live in England ;(
Pablo Escobar buy a Morris Marina
same here , but I'm in New Zealand
I'm originally from South Africa , where they produced V8 versions of the Marina coupe , and the Ford Consul too
come to America it doesn't rain everyday
@@thesuperiorgolemadvanced52 London or NY.....? Hummm...... London! Always!
Im not a Cadillac guy, but only 700 bucks for that no probs.
Once again, same car I had, but mine was gold with a dove gray interior. I loved that car.
My inner detailer would have a field day with this car. That interior would look great with some elbow grease.
coolcamaro12 is that an offer? Lol
coolcamaro12 degrease the whole thing 😁
For enough money it is :D
Yup 1995 was the last year that the Cadillac Deville had the older design 4.9 liter engine. The Deathstar motors were standard the next year in all Deville models. That car would clean up right up with minimal effort and look cherry.
Yup and all those 4.1,4.5, and 4.9 all had headgasket problems. I'll bet this one is due for some headgaskets.
A car made the same year I was born. Now that's an awesome coincidence
Thats a winner especially with the 4.9L . Wasn't even aware Cadillac had that 4.9 that late. The paint would buff out on it too, entire car would clean up quite well.
I like the northstar...when it works its a wonderful engine.
Channel names: “the three amigos” “Appalachia auto archeologists” “trash 2 treasure” “vanilla gorillas” “rust 2 riches” “resurrection salvage” “rust or bust” “rusty recycling” “tetanus TV” “corrosion explosion” “dead lead recycling” “boneyard busters” your welcome! Jay smart
Someone need to buy that beautiful Cadillac for me I would be very grateful for it . Don't let it go to be crushed or sold for parts . I love that beautiful Cadillac. I'm in Charlotte NC. Thank you so much . God of heaven bless you.
No, YOU need to buy the car yourself. Just like everyone else does. And God appreciates people who work hard, and makes their own way in life.
Jaysmart if I was local I would buy that car in a hurry! These are great cars! All of the 93, 94, 95 & 96 Deville Concourse are Northstar. Add this bad boy to the secret stash, lol. That is a great looking Caddy.
Good road trip Car
*damn that's not bad for $700.00 the fact that it starts and runs at all as a 95 is awesome and that one didn't get the Northstar P.O.S until later like 98-2000 . i figure that'swhy you weren't showing the vin. that one has less miles on it than my 06 escalade does. of course my escalade comes with the 6.0L LS2*
DaddytechEnt 06 Escalade came with LQ9 6.0.
mine has a factory badge on it that says LS2 6.0 right on the tailgate
DaddytechEnt
Check the RPO sticker in your glove box “Service Parts Identification” it’s in alphabetical order.
The DeVille got the Northstar engine in 1996.
Right-o chap jolly good video mate.
Its a nice Cadillac hope it stays on roads and doesn't get crushed would be a good daily driver for someone to go places
I'm not a fan of front-wheel drive anything especially luxury cars but that candy is still a pretty nice ride
Better call Saul! The value is probably going up. The last true Cadillac in my opinion. That song though lol. Did it sell? You totally caught me on the Northstar comment #edited
Sweet!!! If i were there then i would have bought it on spot!!!!😎
I love the Lincoln LS with 13-17 Ford Fusion rims on it in the beginning lol
Poor Cadillac..
This is a pushrod V8... the Caddys with the Northstar engine usually have the Northstar badging on the back... as for the blown-gasket problems, I've heard that it's mainly the 1997-99 models with the Northstar engine that had that problem, which Cadillac corrected in 2000...

May be late for a channel name but stealing it from the title. "Running Scrap"
May not be as quick as the Northstar, but only until the Northstar is in the shop for its 5th head gasket 😂😂
$700 is a steal for that car. A date with a power washer would make that car look like new again--the paint underneath looks to be in very nice shape.
Love the digital speedometer
Nice machine. A lot of miles, but decent shape, and can still be used for a few more years.
Hopefully somebody will save it.
my dad had a '96 Concours. North star actually ran good, the power steering on the otherhand
The black on paint is usually from trees...if you don't wash and wax is eats the paint
Ugh, one of these. I see more of these in Chicago than any one person can comprehend. Usually with worn-out suspension and/or donked though.
I wish I lived closer I would buy it but I am all the way in N.Y. i can see it's a good car.
I love those styles, i have always wanted a deville concours
Ugggh, I'm only a few States and a few hundred bucks away from getting this. Lucky bastard too who gets this.
OMG I WANT THAT CAR SO BADLY!! 1 IT PLAYED MY FAV SONG ON THE RADIO 2 IT ACC HAS AN UP TO DAT RADIO 3 IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SLEEK 4 its just the best car anyone could have for 700
Ayden Curley 👌
Better Call Sal wants his car back…👨🏼⚖️⚖️
Great car, this will make someone a good runner.
Oh, I am so envious. I love these. Do you have any more now? Can you ship it to Cali?
No North Star
Must be a special edition.
The downside of the 4.9 is that it requires premium gasoline. I had one very similar and it was one of my favorite cars.
I know a guy who has a 95 deville as his daily driver. it's the newest vehicle he has. he also has a 90 deville. I don't know if he's ever bought a new car and has probably saved enough to buy another house by not buying new cars every 3 years.

The stars were their feeble attempt to try to give a reason for the plastic fender extensions.
My great aunt has a 04-06 Cadillac with the north star has had it since new and no issues what so ever
GM made a permanent fix to the Northstar engines in mid-2004, so your aunts likely wont be a maintenance nightmare like earlier versions.
2:25 a plastic fork, for when you need to eat on the go
That's the same car that Seinfeld gave to his old man for his birthday and it ended up in the water.
Gary Sir I just bought this Car in California where I live before going to N.Y and it's the same but Mines is sky blue and I just watched The Seinfield episode on UA-cam because of You thanks for sharing info good eye and memory know anything about this Car?
I think he bought is pop a Fleetwood.
I knew it wouldn't have the northstar engine in it if you were filming it it is rare for you to do one on a northstar probably because they aren't running lol
YAY you're back!
Good video
Put 250,000 miles on my 96 with a north star , never had a problem
The bad thing is this is a premium gas only engine. Gas mileage is not too bad on the highway but around town will kill you.
that is caddy at finest
It's amazing what people throw away. Not a gm fan but even I can't see why anyone would ever scrap something that nice. Needs a brake line.... so you junk it? Maybe it's been problematic all it's life who knows
Loved the one i had. Great car
nice classic car
Nice ride Jay, but what's the progress on the Galaxy and sn95 Mustang??? Have you all recovered from the Holidays??? I may be in the minority but I like your weather!!!
I love these old grandparent mobiles. Hope you didnt crush your fox body??
He still has the fox
Good job 👍
I would take it !!! Miss mine
I miss my 97 deville, I drove my now late father in it after he lost his license, I would have kept it but due to my low funds and it is a gas guzzler after all. So I was force to trade for something more economical!!!
It was probably a special edition or something nice Cadillac though
Cool car , but I bet that even though GM cars did share parts , you'd pay Buick prices for the Buick and a small fortune for the Cadillac , for the same part , would still buy it though , too bad I'm in a whole other country , it would be a awesome road trip though .
Wash it and buff it out. Would look good again. Kinda had a miss in on cylinder it sounds like.
My grandfather had a 1993 with the 350 v8.
Lets see a video score card. All the cars, what was saved, what you kept and what we can find recycled at the Subaru dealer.
Those Cadillac's have a manual lift for the parking brake under the dash. I know my 99 Deville has that.
That's a great looking body!
that ceiling slot is for a garage door remote
the northstar blows head gaskets like subies
Nice video
You should keep this one!
This would have made a perfect car for Hoovie, hang on, it wasn't quite broken enough
Great video Jay rescue it if u can
The gold kit is aftermarket installed
I can't believe this is scrapped.
