- First place is a must for my sweet tooth food lovers. The sesames seed bun stuffed with different types of xoi. Loaded with peanut, sugar, and coconut, this warm sweet, treat will make a morning person out of anybody.
Cannot come to Da Lat without trying banh mi xiu mai. This rich fatty broth loaded with cha cay and tender xiu mai make for the perfect thing to stuff inside Da Lat's perfectly crispy banh mi.
Speaking of banh mi, you will want to eat as many as you can while in Da Lat. This place does one of the best banh mi’s I have had in Vietnam. Maybe it is the butter, or the perfect balance of all the ingredients. The way that they all work in harmony.
Chicken and Da Lat, you can’t talk about one without mentioning the other. And for good reason. I am not sure what they are doing to the chickens in Da Lat, but some reason they are the most flavor chickens you will ever have in your life. Da Lats cold weather makes for the perfect place to have a hot pot. Load in that chicken, mushrooms, bamboo, and lemon basil for an ultimate hot pot experience.

The purple color in the xôi is actually "lá cẩm", a medicinal herb in Asian cuisine, acting as coloring agent (that beautiful color you saw) and medicinal benefit (treat coughing, stop bleeding wound etc). Vietnamese also have xôi gấc , the red/orange xôi, make from sticky rice with Gấc fruit, really tasty xôi, usually served with roast pork or chả lụa.

Vietnamese only use natural food coloring in their xôi; the purple color is from a plant name câm. The orange xôi is from a fruit name gấc. Green color is from pandan leaves. So this is Dalat :).

In Ha Noi, at midnight, have some young guy, they illegal racing around Hoan Kiem lake ( Guom lake ). And they are called "Dan To".
Near Hoan Kiem lake, have a "banh mi" place, they work from midnight to morning, sell that kind of "banh mi". "Dan to" always eat that after racing time. So we call that "banh mi dan to" 😎😎😎

To be honest, when you was saying in the previous video that it was your last day in Sai Gon, i was deadass thought that u gonna leave Viet Nam which made me sad little bit. Hey Max, My favorite breakfast item during my stay in Vietnam was Xôi Lá Cẩm, a sweet version of glutinous rice. Xôi Lá Cẳm is made from naturally dying the rice grains purple/magenta from boiling Magenta leaves. It is then steamed with coconut milk and sugar, then topped with a mixture of freshly grated coconuts, toasted sesame seeds, roasted peanuts, sugar and salt.
