John and Hal basically run the operation now, hopefully they will start paying Laterns for their service just a little something something. The Avengers used to receive a stipend from the Maria Stark Foundation back in the day and I think Tony was still giving Stipends to members of his team of Avengers even currently. Bruce could do the same for JL members. Hell Superman could fund them with the patents he could get from Reverse Engineering all that sweet tech he gets from his space foes or even most of the Kryptonian stuff that Lex would kill to get his hands on. Supes could also mine asteroids, moons, and planets for rare elements and metals to make a ton of money. Basically between Bruce and Supes the JL should never be cash poor.
But it's DC, they likely come up with some kind of moral dilemma as to why the JL members should defend earth for free. MArvel teams seem to get more out of being with their teams, and they all seem like more of a "family" or a common goal(X men at the mansion, FF4, SHIELD. The JL really doesn't seem to have a strong common goal nor trust. (Well, Batman certainly doesn't trust the League all the time) I like your idea though. Especially for the JL members who don't have kingdoms, or the power of Supes or insane wealth.Even Oliver Queen could fund them. Given that the JL in the pre 52 couldn't even protect member's family members, the least they could do is hand out life insurance. I believe in the DCAU it's the wealthier members of the group that provides money for JL stuff (damages, Watchtower etc). But the idea that the members get no compensation is weird and frankly stupid. It makes members less stable and less focused on heroics (come to think of the JL and GL Corps don't really have many benefits to being a member and with a the insane members, high rates of injury/death, risk to family, constant stress/danger...I actually have a new respect for Stark lol).
If this wasn’t so 8-bit, I’d say this was one of my favorite Justice League adventures! It had everything, mystery, action, drama, and a tough call... would like to see that trial. Grade A work, cheers!
