I used a combination of Swarm Commander and Lemongrass Essential Oil. I started out with Swarm Commander and alternated with the Lemongrass. I am 3 for 3 at this point. I am pretty sure I caught one of my own swarms.

That’s great! Both work quite well. I’m pretty sure Swarm Commanded has some lemongrass oil in it.

So I see what I did wrong. I am using a single deep for a trap but have new frames in it. I don’t have any old comb so would it be better to just have an empty single deep and bait it with swarm commander?

You’d end up with a wild mess on your hands in that case. If you don’t have any drawn comb, you can use a frame of foundation that is heavily waxed. Single deeps are not ideal for swarm traps. A nuc box would be better and closer to the 40L target volume of space. If you have propolis available you can mix it with grain ethanol and make a tincture. Smear this on the inside of the box. The goal is to make the box smell like bees, not fresh wood.

@@beesintheweeds yea my next project is to build some swarm traps. That may have to wait until this winter when I have time and hopefully some comb lol
