    I just recently got my first 9s on bay in freelance and I want to say huge thanks for videos like this! They were game changers for me. The advice is extremely helpful and you give so much! Not only that, but the editing and commentary makes your videos a joy to watch!
    Funny story, I was going to stop at EVP835 because I was just practicing high level and thats where I ended up, but then I came back to this video to review and see what I could work on in the future. Then you said evp850 and above is easier than 600-850 so I went back just to see how it would go and it was pretty much a breeze! It was also just fun practicing HLM too. I’m excited to get there again when the right rotation and time comes. And I’m excited for more of your videos in the future! Of course, whenever you are able to, no rush. Again, thanks so much.
    Now time to work on consistency in the 700s for me 🫡

      That’s amazing! Super happy for you. Bay 999 in Freelance is no easy feat too so congratulations. I’m glad I could help!
      And yeah, I still find the 600-800ish point the hardest part of the run because by the time you break through to HLM, you’re matched with others who have climbed there so you can more or less trust them to do the basics and more!

    something that really helped me become a 9's level solo freelancer was downloading the NSO app and checking my stats between shifts. my first ever HLM shift was a wave 2 loss where i felt like i played ok, but i checked the app and saw i only got 4 bosskills while every teammate got double digits. and in general my maws/flopper/scrapper kills were high while my static kills were low. it's how i realized it was me all along, *i* was the bad rando.
    i spent the next month grinding 40-600 evp and ignoring HLM. i agree with how u laid it out in the video, that being a slayer is how u win earlygame and being hyper-adaptable is how u win midgame, because i learned these things thru trial & error during this '80s training montage.
    fast-forward a bit, i was one of the randos in ur lossless sockeye 9's, username "society". we grow up so fast 😭

      Yo ggs!! And you know what… I actually can’t believe I didn’t mention the app, at all. It’s so important. It doesn’t show everything but it does show you things you might not have realised, like you said. Will need to mention it in another vid I think. But yeah, good job! Def agree with EVP 40-600 grind, it really solidifies you as a player before it gets insanely difficult.

    Nice video! I also find the 840 to 999 range pretty easy compared to the 600 to 860 range. Also when I go for freelance 999, I like to play as soon as the rotation starts because when you climb quickly at the beginning, you are more likely to get paired with people who are also climbing quickly and they are usually pretty good. When you play later on in the rotation, you are more likely to run into people who are hard stuck at a certain hazard level and you have to play in a way to make up for their mistakes

      @rachelskiiiiiii  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! And yeah, I agree. I did consider talking about that but didn't think it was too relevant after some thought. But you're odds of a smoother run are definitely better at the start of rotations for sure.

    Thanks for making this video! At the end of games when stats come up I often worry that I didn't do enough (not getting enough eggs, not ressing enough teammates, etc) so I check the app to see how many bosses I killed to reassure myself xD but even then there's always that little voice that's like "did I still do enough though ;-;" but hearing you explain your thought processes and knowing that my brain works similarly to yours during games has reassured me that I'm (hopefully) doing alright and not being a detriment to my team x'D
    Also, I queued with you in freelance during Big Run and got a high score of 169 (I was "Imbecile") so thank you so much! You're absolutely cracked at this game and I hope I can one day reach your level of skill x

    I’ve only reached EVP 400 a few times…so this is all excellent info for me, thanks. I often get frustrated in EVP when teammates aren’t focused on meeting Quota (perhaps they’re working on badges for boss kills?), then Demote myself to a level where I can carry matches easily….quickly finding myself back in EVP where the headache starts all over again. I need to get better at being able to carry matches at low EVP levels, not relying on my teammates to succeed. I’m not sure I’ll ever reach EVP 999, but it certainly is something to aim for.

      I’ve changed my mind…the Freelance teams that I get are HORRIBLE and I’ve given up. I’m constantly cursing at my teammates because they do so many stupid things it’s amazing they’re still in Profreshional or EVP ranks. I’m just going to demote myself down to Over Achiever every new rotation because it seems working my way up through the ranks is the only way to control the matches…once I get to P+3 or EVP it’s not possible to control the matches and I end up with more losses than wins…it seems like my teammates are only interested in Boss kills, not egg collection, and we end up missing quote more often than not. Egg counts in single digits for 3 waves isn’t helping the team…they slay and leave the eggs, which get carried away. They don’t understand special waves like Rush and Grillers.

      @@rachelskiiiiiii40->999 is ridiculous (taking just under 5 hours if you play nonstop and have no losses) especially if they’re willing to acknowledge those that get high with badges and such. it’s not like ranked, where you rank up over time. everything gets reset each shift. they should have a way of tracking and recording your progress. and imo they should have a similar ranking system so you can get paired with people of a similar skill level because it’s not hard to get to evp and after that the skill gap between 40evp and 999 is huge. they could easily rescale the bonus system and do whatever they do with it in ranked so that it doesn’t become a problem of cheesing it. i honestly don’t understand nintendo’s logic.

    I freelanced all my 999s badges (and other hlm grinds, and top 5% br scores) which is an experience I truly do not recommend anyone learning how to climb the ranks😭
    and it usually takes above the usual 5 hour grind people just dont have the time of day for, which makes the community of experienced players even smaller (and the overfishing community smaller)
    Thanks for sharing your salmon run experience! Engaging sr content is pretty obscure. I hear people complain often about their teammates, but if someone is struggling climbing they should reflect on their own performance.
    But ofcourse, the dependency on your teammates grows the greater the hazard level, especially with overwhelming boss spawns and egg quotas at hlm

    Great vid and I agree with most things in the video. I love the line "facilitate the randos (timmies) to do their best." OOof that is exactly why low EVP is the hardest for me. In the midwest I only ever get teamed with literal American children up to like EVP 250. That RNG and time is what has pushed me away from pursuing 999 and on weekends where there's a gold rotation there's always other real life stuff to do. The false scarcity of salmon run is somewhat of a deterrent.

Excellent teammates also contribute to my success story but 280% to 330% were a solid preview and the most painful teacher in accomplishing HLM. I highly recommend going for max Hazzard on random rotations, random grizzco weapons or big run. It can get very repetitive grinding with the same weapons every wave on normal rotations and the grizzco weapons become more and more useful the higher the haz is. I recently reached max Hazzard on salmon jammin junction during a random weapon rotation in solo que and it was a ton of fun.

    Would it be advantageous to lure more during low EVP versus mid to high? Or at least do minor lures? I feel like I mostly fail due to not meeting quota and there are a ton of eggs at the shore we could have at least partially lured. The highest I have ever gotten was to about 600something on Jammin Salmon Junction.

    • @rachelskiiiiiii
      @rachelskiiiiiii  7 місяців тому +2

      Hey!
      So I would say for anything under EVP 400, you could probably get away with not luring. Unless you get waves that are just pure statics, then you should be fine.
      Above 400, I start to bring a scrapper and maws back when I can, if I’m able to. They’re the two easiest ones and often don’t impact the game in a major way if left alive.
      Above 600, I would try to bring other stuff in closer if you can, but I’d be careful because of risk of overwhelming the basket. It really depends on the map and weapons you have and how comfortable you are with what’s going on.
      If you find you’ve got a lot of eggs at shore, then you can do two things. Either start throwing them back earlier or try to bring the lurable spawns in closer. Luring can be difficult cause your randos might not do it so if that happens, you’ll need to start getting used to throwing eggs earlier in the wave to try and get some of quota filled. Anytime you have a moment of downtime, think about whether you could throw/run some eggs or if you need to slay bosses instead.
      For maps like Bay, Sockeye and JSJ, I prioritise eggs earlier and more often compared to maps like Fission and Grounds, just because the maps are bigger or wider or the static spawn points are far.
      Also, something else to do to help is to start recognising when new spawns are coming in and if they’re on the other side of the map and your teammates are all at another boss, then try to lure or manipulate the boss into coming closer (an example of this is luring a Drizzler by not going back to basket until it’s jumped closer).
      Sorry it’s long, I hope it’s helpful!

    I hate that after a new rotation starts your highest evp level goes all the way back down to 40 by default... I wish Nintendo made it easier to stay up there even when a new rotation shows up, because this pretty much doesn't really give players the incentive to stay at level 999 when each and every rotation pushes them all the way back down

      Hey so this changed last year with an update. If you reach EVP 999 you will then be ‘reset’ to EVP 400 instead of 40. These are map specific though, meaning to remain at EVP 400 you’ll need to get 999 for every map at least once. It’s still not great but it’s a lot better than starting at 40 each time.
