Bro i get the same thing going back to ranked from side order, but with EVERYTHING. roller feels slow, or Ink consumption feels too fast, or something.
It never fails to amuse me how Grizzco weapons are illegal modifications. Like, this isn't just a sketchy job that doesn't value employee safety, it's also part of an illegal weapon manufacturing gig
Yeah, the funny thing is that this weapon is comparable to mustard gas. It's so powerful that it's illegal. Or, moreso in this case, it's illegal to be this powerful. It's a lawnmower with the engine of a sports car. A beautifully disgusting masterpiece.
well are they actually illegal, or just illegal in multiplayer? The Grizzco weapons may just be unsanctioned mods added on to regulation-approved weapons, so that the weapons are unqualified for/banned from Turf War and Ranked/Anarchy, but is it actually illegal to mod a weapon and use it for purposes other than the multiplayer battles?
In the German version of the game, griz mentions that he actually commissioned them, so they’re probably just special weapons created for the sake of salmonid extermination. I’m sure he’d get legal permission to use them, considering they even protect the cities.
That's what I don't understand. If weapons like these are possible then why weren't they used against the Octolings? As far as I can tell, you can only really theorize and headcanon some of this stuff away.
It doesn't matter whether you're a little child or not. As an adult, I know we were all giggling and cackling like idiots while we nyoomed around with this thing.
I don't even play Splatoon, and I can confirm even I was giggling at the ridiculously fast speed of it. Like from the Look of it it's fast enough where you get the Sensation of "Oh yeah, this is super quick" without the "oh no, this is so quick I literally can't control it"
In any shift where you get at least one roller, excluding the ~Deco Roller~ (edit: sorry, Carbon Roller), Glowflies is basically free-farm time (as long as the person who gets the roller knows how to use it). What really makes the Grizzco Roller special is that you can basically zip around and run over Flipper-Flopper, Maws, Scrapper, Steel Eels and all the common Salmonids including Cohocks, without ever having to slow down other than for refilling ink.
@@MBrandr Nah, all Rollers regardless are effective in Glowfly since all salmonids have half health and the highest Lesser that spawns is Chums (which now have 50 hit points since we're talking glowflies) and the only boss are Goldies (which also have half their regular HP, which I assume is the regular 500 boss hp, which means 250 HP.) Edit: Just looked at the Wiki, their health is indeed 500, but doesn't reduce on Glowfly.
I like your pfp! On my last playthrough it made me very sad he never returns..but i love him in his confined world of a game! Just like a book character
though it would be less fun if squidschool was on my team since he was walking the roller all the way to the shore and not letting the salmonids come to him. here i thought he was an expert
I love how the roller just has this massive V6 engine tacked onto it and even has its own car-like sound effects. It's so exaggerated. It's ridiculous. It's perfect.
part of the reason i love the engine so much is the canonical reason for why the Dynamo Roller is such an unwieldy and slow weapon is because it has a motor built into it that makes it really heavy, so i like that the grizzco is a modified Dynamo that changes out the motor for an engine block
A paint roller with a Naturally Aspirated V6 that produces paint, modified by a damn bear to the point where you'd basically have a painting steamroller. And then there's the Grizzco Charger, bro saw CoD quickscopers and went "let's do that"
"Hey, the roller deals massive damage and goes faster than swimming, anything we should to do balance it?" "Yea make the vertical flick an E-Liter shot so it can take out Steelheads"
True, but, the vertical flick takes a loooong time. So you can't just bust it out any moment. I've also seen people get in trouble through unnoticed chip damage they took, or zooming off the map 😄
@undefinederror40404 oh absolutely, but the fact they gave you a relatively easy (if risky) way to handle the most dangerous of like three bosses it can't easily take down otherwise is really funny
I watched so many people accidentally run off the map with it, including myself. Usually I get really exasperated when I fall into the water, but I was always too busy riding the high of grizzco roller to care, or to be exasperated that someone else had. We all just wanted to go VROOM.
@@celestialspark5697dude, now that you mention it, any song would be funny on it. Imagine how out of sync all of the music would be and then suddenly hearing “He’s A Pirate” making its way towards you from behind 😂
"I know those kids were giggling the whole time." Dude, *I* was giggling the whole time! That thing's so wild and unwieldy, and so fucking fun. I rolled right into the water once because I didn't realize it was high tide and I was lost in the Grizzco Roller sauce, lol. Based on a couple videos I've seen, I wasn't the only one, either. Absolutely fucking grand old time. It's my favorite weapon ever. It's my best friend. It's my everything. It's my Roman Empire.
I saw someone call this thing the “Grizzco Lawnmower”, and I’m calling it that from now on😂😂😂 The immense joy and satisfaction I felt sending Scrappers and Maws to the shadow realm basically via vehicular fishslaughter is something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to replicate outside of SR.
I think a REAALLY FUN idea for challenges would be a mode where you only use grizzco weapons for turf war or anarchy battle modes, imagine the chaos of all those unbalanced weapons in one match especially with eight of them not just a max of four
They'd have to leave out the charger, because honestly, none of the others could even begin to counterplay it. Even a halfway decent player would wipe the enemy team the instant they were out of cover.
I feel like an extra bit of the magic is that Salmon Run is especially harsh, even outright unfair against the player. I remember I popped a kraken to save a match and literally got clipped through the floor. In a mode where you can do so much right and still lose, the Grizzco Roller is pure catharsis after everything the mode puts you through.
The amount of times I got bitten(and splatted) by a mini salmonid *while in crabtank* is infuriating. How do the little buggers get to splat me when I'm in a literal tank? They also like bopping you off the map while in tank. And yeah it is kinda strange that kraken falls through grates, considering how huge it is. I do think it has a good shield, but I've never had a missile barrage on me while in Kraken so I'm not even sure if it tanks bombs :/
Only way Kraken can die is from Megaladontia's (Joe) bite and the environment. I know the former because my friend got one-tapped by him while he had the literal invincibility shield that is Kraken Royal.
@@philippeleprohon4823 The only way that can happen is during start-up frames and ending frames. If you activate Kraken while getting eaten, you'll probably die AND lose the special, because you're not invincible YET. If Kraken ENDS right as you're getting eaten, you die as well. Megalodontia cannot kill players in Kraken form, it will only send you to the sky for you to come back falling down, just fine. If your friend panic-popped Kraken while getting eaten, that might've been why they died, as they would not have been invincible yet.
As a vRoller main for several years, I had VERY high expectations for whenever they would add the Grizzco Roller. I wanted it to be like the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7: Power of a Dynamo, handling and speed of a Carbon. They did not disappoint. This is prolly the best weapon they've added to the game lmao
My friends and I were speculating on what the new grizzco weapon would be and I said "I really hope it's just a dynamo roller with a booster on it." I could not have been happier when I finally saw it in big big run.
One lore detail i love is that this shows just how scary smart mr griz is cause sheldon the one who has been working on the dynamo for who knows how long cant get the thing to work as he wants then griz just dose that... makes you think a bit...
Well grizzco weapons are not regulation. And unsafe for turf war. And the hero weapons are good. Just very complex designs the factories couldn't do justice as it was too complex.. Which is revealed by some line about the hero shooter replica in one of the games. I imagine the grizzco weapons are pretty handcrafted. As are the hero weapons
@@mz-power9587 well thats the idea for the dynamo or rather it was designed for the great turf war, mass production wasn't exactly their priority but yeah.
Well, Sheldon does have to play within the bounds of regulations, while Mr. Grizz flat out couldn't care less about them. (As shown by S2's hero mode, Sheldon can totally overtune weapons when not required to play within those restrictions)
I remember the sheer, unbridled joy I experienced when I managed to get a round where *everyone* had this thing in their hands. Everyone just immediately started driving in circles, careening off ledges, and plowing headfirst into enemy hordes. It feels super appropriate for the typical "this thing absolutely will cause bodily harm to all involved parties" Grizzco design theme that this improvised steamroller comes with no brakes. It's a joyride made manifest, combined with one of the greatest anti-fish solutions ever devised by cruel, fuzzy hands. I love it. ... Plus, it makes the imagination go wild for what else could be. What absolute nonsense could they pack into a Grizzco *shooter* , for instance...
A few ideas I've had/found: 1. Literally just a Hero Shot that Mr. Grizz looted from Octo Canyon/Valley; bonus points if it's Agent 4's gun because 1. it'd be on-brand for ol' Potential Squid 2. it's literally just a P90 painted yellow. 1.5. That, but max aim assist in the style of Side Order. Good luck if it decides to target a Flyfish! 2. The Splattershot Jr. taken to its logical conclusion. Your ink tank is replaced by some inflatable monstrosity with 1000% capacity, but whenever you try to fire your gun it jams. The Shooter with no shooting. 3. Every single Shooter, duct-taped together and with a mechanism that allows you to fire all of them at the same time. In fact, the duct tape might allow the Dual Squelcher to cameo! 4. A regular Splattershot, except every projectile has a 3% chance to be a Zooka blast.
"People actually like it if you have a broken weapon in PvE." Oh, boy, you have not seen the vitriol Gas Passer Pryos get in Mann Vs. Machine in Team Fortress 2. Granted, it's a game where you pick your own loadouts rather than it being random, but still. But yeah, the Grizzco Roller is crazy fun and an incredibly useful support weapon. Also, being able to run over _Maws_ is an incredibly awesome feeling.
They need to make a custom match mode in the next game like smash has where you can crank everyone’s run speed up to 1,000,000,000 and just watch the chaos unfold
Yeah I think it's great in SR, but if I have to face these things in any other mode I'm going to put my switch down and throw my hands in the air. No way.
that challenge was ridiculous in both good and bad ways the speed at which id get splatted without the game even catching up properly was frustrating, but also it was very funny to just go insanely fast and just jump when someones about to run you over & see them just. run further instead of trying to get you again haha
I also even love seeing other people with it at the start of a match and just watching them go speeding by at the start with a thick line of paint covering 1/4 the map. It’s really funny.
I love Salmon Run, the weapon 'modifications' Grizzco does are LITERAL mods. Its similar to Overwatch's empowerment, where the devs used common cheat tactics like wallhacks or aimbot and made those the big super powers you get once in awhile. All of the grizzco weapons are cranked up to 11, "What if you had no charge time on a charger?" "What if your Katana always instantly killed?" "What if your stinger had 10 shots?" Its awesome. I hope we get a salmon run game someday ala L4D.
The amount of whiplash I felt when using the regular and even carbon and even the brush feeling slower than normal was crazy. I stopped for a few minutes to make sure my controller was fine because I could’ve sworn Inkbrush moved faster than this and while I don’t use rollers often I still use them enough. You build up so much speed you can even jump over some small patches of water . In terms of fun G roller is up #1.
The funniest thing that happened to me this Big Run, was when I got Grizroller in round 1, and then inkbrush in round 2. I never in my life thought I would roll with Inkbrush and groan about how painfully slow it felt. *And this is coming from a Dynamo Main!*
So because i didnt want to interrupt my rolling. I did learn you can roll over drizzlers When drizzlers Shoot or return from exposure, their hit box gets around the ground enought time to apply 400 damage. you can hold forward as a roller when it does it so you only have to flick horizontally once to finish it off. Case and point 9:22
There’s also a way to do more damage, just tilt left and right rapidly and it deals enough damage to insta kill the drizzler, not guaranteed but it works half the time.
Not to mention that it brakes the game literally, I’ve seen people clip through the map with this thing. Twice. I remember when I first saw this thing, in the hands of another player flying across the screen as a blur, I said out loud: THAT IS NOT A ROLLER, THAT’S A CAR.
I'm 22 and laughed the first time I got to use the Grizzco Roller lol. And then I got the brushes that I'm used to running with as a brush main and was convinced I was going slow because I was so used to the crazy run speed of this thing. I haven't played in a while though, I had no idea they only just now made this thing
The Dynamo was already my favourite weapon to get in SR, the grizzco roller is a dream come true. 😂 Also, I don't remember where exactly in the game it says this, maybe it was promotional material, but I remember Grizzco weapons being referred to as illegally modified which has so many wild/fascinating implications about the world of Splatoon.
My first big run round i immediately got grizzco roller. I was just holding down right trigger to spray my weapon. The surprise and ecstasy when I accelerated to 60mph. When i expected just a standard shooter walkong around. They managed to make movement in this game feel like molasses.
The Grizzco roller made me think about how we dont have a regular roller that's just... focused on rolling All the rollers are good for their horizontal or vertical flicks, and rolling is just an afterthought We need something like the Grizzco roller designed to kill by rolling, except balanced for regular use Maybe this was Nintendo's way of testing the waters for that sort of thing, seeing how people would like it
The first time I saw this thing, it was in a dataminer video, and when the guy started rolling, I was pushed BACK Everyone's first time using or seeing this thing is special, and thats the beauty of the Grizzco weapons
See, it's fun because my silly little octoling can hold a paint roller no less than 3-4x his size with an engine and mow down every unfortunate salmonid in my path in mere moments while my brain tells me more more more mo-
The Grizzco Roller is the most fun weapon I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Being able to run over Salmonids as if they're nothing, especially Cohawks, is so satisfying. I've also noticed how fast it can kill Maws without needing a bomb. This and the Dualies are my favorite Grizzco weapons. Just pure, unadulterated fun! Edit: This weapon is the embodiment of "Hehehe [insert thing here] go Brrrr"
I’m so glad that this was the Grizzco weapon rather than something like a Splatling (despite Rollers being my least favorite class and Splatlings being my favorite) because honestly, Splatoon needed another “Rule of Cool” weapon and a Roller can do that so much more easily imo.
Counterpoint: a Splatling that has 5 rings of charge that each use more ink, but get more powerful, culminating in the last one taking 5 seconds and your entire ink tank but your gun becomes a straight-up Splatoon 1 Killer Wail that you can aim like a Sting Ray.
during the big big run i had a run where on wave 3 all 4 players on my team got the grizco roller and it may honestly be the single most fun round of any mode ive played in any splatoon game
I said months ago, long before any chatter of a GrizzCo Roller even truly began, some speculation on what they should do next if they ever did another weapon. I said if they did a roller, it would basically be the Dynamo but faster. I underestimated how fast Nintendo was willing to make it go, but otherwise called it! Also, it's said somewhere, at some time, don't remember where or when, that Mr. Grizz's modifications are illegal.
This big run was the first one i got to participate in. I knew about grizzco weapons, but not about the roller. I get it on my first shift, first wave, have no idea what's wrong with my dynamo roller, then proceed to almost die laughing
My highlight of big run was when only I got Dualie Squelchers and the rest of my team got the grizz roller. They started spinning around me and I never felt so fucking bullied but at the same time filled with determination.
This is just proof that we need one, just ONE Grizzco weapon challenge for turf. Of course, everyone who isn't a charger will be dead faster than a small fry, but. . .it would still be an experience, which is what challenges should be.
For me I think the thing that I noticed that made it as fun as it was is that while most Grizzco Weapons have an extreme strength and an extreme weakness, this is the one where the extreme strength and extreme weakness is the same thing, the absolutely ludicrous speed - To use it (unless you're flicking it), you're basically cosplaying as a cat with an extreme case of the zoomies. And this is a game that already has pretty good feeling movement. Best Grizzco weapon, makes me want to see a Grizzco Weapons Only Challenge just so I can use it in PvP. Even if it forces random Grizzco weapons on me I'll risk having to play the Grizzco Slosher or being up against four Grizzco Chargers in PvP for the chance to play that in PvP. There's a bit of Mario to this design - Particularly Mario Galaxy and 2, where there are some levels that just... "Here's a novel movement for this level, it's not (necessarily) an easy level, good luck" - The Yoshi levels which focused on the speed boost you get from chilli fruit, there's a level where you're using the boulder power up and the entire level is a downhill slope, I think?, anything that forces you to use the spring Mario power up. Levels where the thing that's getting you through the level is also the thing that's making the level hard. "The rest of the team can compensate" - ...Which is the other aspect of the design that creates some pretty novel moments. Like figuring out how best to play tri-slosher when _everyone else on the team_ rolled Grizzco Roller for that wave (Resulting in me basically using the same positions as I'd usually be using in Salmon Run if I'd been given a charger or backline splatling, focusing on bosses that they'd struggle with and reviving them when they bounced off something off of the map or careened) - It's also pretty hilariously badly suited for Mothership if there aren't any long range weapons in the squad.
You brought back an old memory mentioning that rock Mario level. The chili fruit and spring mushroom weren't super hard for younger me, but I died so many times on that level that I capped the amount of star bits you could hold from all the tries it took. Melty Monster Galaxy ruled
something I also realized about the Grizzco Roller is how it was capable of finding new movement options other weapons would not be capable of capitalizing on. Primarily on high-tide Inkblot & Mid-to-Low-tide Barnacle, the momentum gained by just rolling around stupid is enough to make jumps between gaps of water or ledge-to-ledge & blocks that otherwise need jumps via swimming to make. There have been times I needed to get by Scrappers & Steelheads in Chum-infested turf, that those jumps opened a new opportunity to get around what were effectively walls I'd just get bumped back by. and now that has me thinking... Splatoon 3 doesn't do much momentum-based gameplay. Squid-Rolling is more a defensive or quick-mobility option & Squid-Surging is very underutilized. so what if the next game utilized that more, alongside meshing weapon capability & map design that can open different or simply faster routes? Like a Splatana capable of crossing certain gaps other weapons would be forced to swim across, or Dualies dodge-rolling faster into an alternative flank underneath the map & immediately taking aim or movement that'll take others slower to do.
It's weird how lesser rollers and even brushes seem to have capped jumping velocity that doesn't let them jump over gaps, but Grizz Roller just doesn't, it keeps all of the momentum.
6:44 I'm so triggered. You ignored EVERY SINGLE drizzler rain bomb! Your team could easily wipe in that much damage. 12:49 ALL THOSE EGGS! 😭 I'm sorry. I'm just a boy who wanted a high score and was a victim of freelance this past weekend.
Whenever I got it at the start of a wave id always nyoom off as far as I could go just cause, I may have accidentally drowned myself once but it was worth it every time
i would, in fact, say that it still would be broken in pvp. you basically have an eliter with a permanent ultra stamp. everything that gets in your sight gets ran over or sniped
In the lore, the Grizzco weapons are illegally modified. It's kinda fun to use the weapon when you know you're not technically supposed to, giving a feeling of rebellion.
When I get the Grizzco Roller in Big Run, I just speed around to the other edge of the map before the wave starts, and then I’m the first to die and can’t be revived for like 30 seconds while I’m just spamming “Help!” like I always do when I die
i get that this is the same reasons that people don’t really like the Grizz brella. without the novelty of a brella shield, it basically just becomes a shooter. rather than playing into a novelty, it plays out of one.
One thing I noticed is that the Grizzco roller does not bounce when hitting a maws boss, it just hits it like 4 times in a second and can let you kill it in one of its bites without a bomb.
Mhm, that'd another great thing about this roller is that it negligibly bounces, so you can literally mow yourself into the thick of an enemy swarm, collect an egg, and mow yourself back out
there's a really big difference in the design of splatoon 2 and 3 grizzco weapons, while they in are really powerfull but sluggish and runs out of ink fast, in 3 the main goal is to make them really fun to use.
While the increased speed of the roller is the most impactful feeling for players, the visual and sound design of the weapon is the polish that makes it a great “limit breaking” item. I thought about a bunch of other “limit breaking” mechanics in other games, and they can certainly feel less impactful than the Grizzco roller. Spirits in Smash Ultimate can objectively make you much more powerful, but in-game they hardly have any visual or sound effects, just some stat boosts. And, I don’t think the spirits were causing as much of a stir as the Grizzco roller seems to have created. Since Team Fortress 2 was brought up, I’m going to gush about it here. Gem brought up the minigun, and it’s a good comparison. It can have the highest DPS in the game, and if you’re using it in-game, it’s also pretty loud, which can help enemies avoid you. But, the game’s Ubercharge ability is also a great example of a good “limit break”. While it isn’t as powerful as in Meet the Medic, the sounds and visuals make up for it. The Medic and his healing target automatically play voice clips on response to the Ubercharge activating, and it’s mostly boasting about how powerful they are. The character models gain a distinctive bright red or blue sheen, like what Metal Mario looks like, and it’s easily visible from a distance among everything else going on in the game. Finally, when Gem talked about how children may gravitate to the rollers because of the roller’s ability to just run in and cause mayhem, I thought about Pyro’s flamethrower. Many weapons can outrange the flamethrower, but Pyro is one of the more mobile classes in the game, and the flamethrower’s aim is fairly forgiving. Fire in Team Fortress 2 tends to make players move and search for healing, so it can feel empowering to: 1. Run in. 2. Set a bunch of people on fire. 3. Make the enemy team scatter. 4. Get kills. It’s mechanically simple for new players, but what also helps with the slapstick element is that fire itself is treated humorously by the game. The characters have over-the-top reactions to being set on fire, and many players take part in the schadenfreude.
I like how in Splatoon 3 they give the Grizzco weapons unique gimmicks instead of just giving them crazy fire rate and terrible ink consumption like they did in Splatoon 2. All of the Splatoon 3 Grizzco weapons have their own identity and benefits while I think the only super unique one from Splatoon 2 was Grizzco Slosher.
Nothing feels worse than getting a Gootuber or an Undercover or a Dynamo when the rest of the team is zipping n zooming around with the GrizzRoller. Its like being at a fair or arcade and all you won was a keychain and everyone else has the plushie thats the size of them! (Im sorry but the whole video im trying to pay attention, but the amount of eggs being left out and not put away was driving me up the wall 😅)
Seeing only 40 eggs put into the basket for that glowfly wave (instead of something closer to 100) makes me feel almost visceral pain, as someone who never once got anywhere that lucky with a shift throughout the whole of Big Big Run. ... I feel lucky enough just to have random teammates who don't stand around during the prep time before each wave like deers in front of headlights, while we get shifts with grillers at high tide. Still, the Grizzco Roller is just so damned fun when you do get to use it on maps and shifts with mainly land-based Salmonids.
I definitely could have done some more egg carrying especially when I had another teammate with the roller. I was too mesmerized by lining myself up so all the chum exploded. But yeah, I was expecting a lot more eggs too. Idk what the teammates thought they were accomplishing by shooting at the wave that was running into me
Oh my goodness yes there were so many wasted eggs there it made my heart hurt. As a grizzco roller on a glowflies round, you're going so fast that its very easy to carry your whole team if they're being useless, by mowing the salmonid AND egg running AND reviving fallen teammates.
The most ideal strategy is to use the roller up, closer to the basket to kill the rush Salmonids there, that way you spend around the last 15 or 10 seconds of the match just pressing "A" to put tons of eggs into the basket all at once and no need to worry about ferrying.
I absolutely love the vertical flick on this weapon, because it's unlike vertical flicks on all the other rollers, which feel either weak or inconsistent in salmon run. For the regular and the carbon one it feels unimpactful, not very impressive in terms of range and it often fails to even two-shot a steelhead. For Dynamo and Flingza it does feel strong at times. It can one-shot a steelhead and, especially for Flingza, it can attack multiple salmonids lined up after each other, which to me is one of the most important features to make a weapon good in this mode. But even for Dynamo and Flingza the damage of a vertical flick drops drastically at maximum range, which makes the flick feel like its damage doesn't quite make up for its slowness enough. The vertical flick of a Grizzco Roller on the other hand is still incredibly slow, but it deals 400 damage _at bare minimum._ AND it has insane range as well? That makes it probably the second most powerful long ranged attack of any main weapon, right behind the E-Litre!
With the right damage falloff conditions, the vertical flick does actually drop below 400 damage. (Not that anyone but me would use it in ways that meet those conditions)
You know that fucking video of the guy with his car flipping over squashing a bunch of kids in that one car safety ad that's how this fucking weapon feels like its horrific I love it. When me and my girlfriend were playing yesterday we couldn't stop giggling over how fast we were going. It makes it 10 times funnier when someone gets it, realizes they got it and scurries off to kill the nearest boss at the beginning of a wave. I LOVE how reckless you can be with it and when someone falls into the water you know damn well it's because they're the grizzco roller. Great video, I love this thing!
this is how i felt the first time i got the grizz dualies too theres something so primally satisfying about speeding across a huge distance while youre constantly exploding
Bro your absolutely right. But im just gonna say something... lead the maws and the Flipper-floppers to the basket so you can instantly get those eggs in. Oh and snatchers are good if the eggs are far away cause most of the time they will carry the eggs closer to the basket where you can kill them, and then you can instantly put all the eggs in the basket. I hope you read this comment. Also even though the snatchers are taking the eggs you should also take the ggs they are taking so they can start moving to your basket quicker. Also to restate, I also LOVED the griz roller.
The absolute whiplash of getting the grizzco roller in one wave and then the dynamo in the next is pain
That's how it is for me when going to most other weapons tbh, the speed is just too addictive.

Edit: Just looked at the Wiki, their health is indeed 500, but doesn't reduce on Glowfly.
I got the big swig on glowflies and my team still (somehow) wiped. I'd splatted >2000 eggs' worth of lessers
It's perfect.
part of the reason i love the engine so much is
the canonical reason for why the Dynamo Roller is such an unwieldy and slow weapon is because it has a motor built into it that makes it really heavy, so i like that the grizzco is a modified Dynamo that changes out the motor for an engine block
A paint roller with a Naturally Aspirated V6 that produces paint, modified by a damn bear to the point where you'd basically have a painting steamroller.
And then there's the Grizzco Charger, bro saw CoD quickscopers and went "let's do that"
"Dang, these weapon rotations are so bad"
2 seconds later:
*Steamrolling around the map at mach 10*
"Hey, the roller deals massive damage and goes faster than swimming, anything we should to do balance it?"
"Yea make the vertical flick an E-Liter shot so it can take out Steelheads"
True, but, the vertical flick takes a loooong time. So you can't just bust it out any moment. I've also seen people get in trouble through unnoticed chip damage they took, or zooming off the map 😄
@undefinederror40404 oh absolutely, but the fact they gave you a relatively easy (if risky) way to handle the most dangerous of like three bosses it can't easily take down otherwise is really funny
Vertical flick should have pierced armour for its long charge time
@@sandcastle84eh I don't think it needed to be more overpowered than it already was
@@undefinederror40404 It should, G-Roller during Triumvirate fight is barely an effective weap now, especially at HLM
A roller you can actually roll with is so fun
I watched so many people accidentally run off the map with it, including myself. Usually I get really exasperated when I fall into the water, but I was always too busy riding the high of grizzco roller to care, or to be exasperated that someone else had. We all just wanted to go VROOM.
Using this weapon feels like driving an F1 racecar with a meatgrinder stapled to it💀💀💀
Imagine if someone made a mod where the Grizzco Roller played 1940s cartoon slap stick sound effects every time it rolled.
I would personally love it if it started playing the Benny Hill theme through terrible, barely functional speakers duct taped to the side.
bwahaha that would be amazing
@@celestialspark5697dude, now that you mention it, any song would be funny on it. Imagine how out of sync all of the music would be and then suddenly hearing “He’s A Pirate” making its way towards you from behind 😂
@@KeleuHerdley How about Gas Gas Gas or A Full-Speed Farewell To The New World? (Or, if you'll allow me to be niche for a bit, The Payser Test.)
any sounds being played through it are required to have an intense doppler effect to the other players
I saw someone call this thing the “Grizzco Lawnmower”, and I’m calling it that from now on😂😂😂
The immense joy and satisfaction I felt sending Scrappers and Maws to the shadow realm basically via vehicular fishslaughter is something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to replicate outside of SR.
I think a REAALLY FUN idea for challenges would be a mode where you only use grizzco weapons for turf war or anarchy battle modes, imagine the chaos of all those unbalanced weapons in one match especially with eight of them not just a max of four
desperate for this and other strange combinations like turf war on salmon run stages. also the inverse, a bring-your-own-weapons salmon run
@whizzerZero the turf war on salmon run stage thing would be hard since the maps aren't perfectly mirrored like regular stsges are
@@jordenpeterkin7322 that's the fun part..!
Im thinking about the horrors of the Grizzco charger already
They'd have to leave out the charger, because honestly, none of the others could even begin to counterplay it. Even a halfway decent player would wipe the enemy team the instant they were out of cover.
One thing is universal across all games, genders, and ages.
Everybody loves moving/doing damage at VERY high speeds.
The people yearn for the vroom vroooooom
I'm almost 20 and using this roller had me giggling like a 5 year old going VROOOOOOOM. peak game design
Can relate, except I'm almost 30!
@@undefinederror40404 Kraken is invincible...
Only way Kraken can die is from Megaladontia's (Joe) bite and the environment.
I know the former because my friend got one-tapped by him while he had the literal invincibility shield that is Kraken Royal.
It genuinely was the best reward after so many times where I got passed around like a blunt in salmon run
My friends and I were speculating on what the new grizzco weapon would be and I said "I really hope it's just a dynamo roller with a booster on it."
I could not have been happier when I finally saw it in big big run.
@@mz-power9587I mean yeah the grizzco weapons are meant to look like they’ve been duct taped together that’s what makes them *fun*
they introduced egg throwing in the same game where getting this roller just means you can vroom vroom eggs to basket in just seconds
Perfect accuracy, shots unaffected by gravity, and with such a high firerate that the shots appear to blend into a single beam?
A few ideas I've had/found:
It’s so funny with you see the player with the grizzco roller getting the zoomies before the round starts.
Splatoon 3:
_"This is easily the greatest thing you've ever produced."_
Side Order:
_"Yes, even you!"_
DBZ Abridged reference spotted!
Using it is no guarantee that your team will win, but it sure is fun, and the balance makes me happy.
It isn’t a guarantee. …when my teammates have it instead of me.
It's a guarantee in my hands
Watching you rolling in the lobby was funny, but it doesn't even come close to watching other other people zooming around the actual map.
Grizzco Roller and the Roller Speed Up challenge just keep telling me that Rollers should be allowed to stack run speed.
They need to make a custom match mode in the next game like smash has where you can crank everyone’s run speed up to 1,000,000,000 and just watch the chaos unfold
Bro missed the challenge when all the rollers were made that insane speed in splatzones
Yeah I think it's great in SR, but if I have to face these things in any other mode I'm going to put my switch down and throw my hands in the air. No way.
I also missed that challenge, so I don't blame him lol
@@squiddler7731well they also make it extremely easy to miss every single challenge. They happen infrequently on the random esthetic of days
that challenge was ridiculous in both good and bad ways
the speed at which id get splatted without the game even catching up properly was frustrating,
but also it was very funny to just go insanely fast and just jump when someones about to run you over & see them just. run further instead of trying to get you again haha
That challenge was the first thing I thought of after 5 seconds of using the grizco roller
"It may well just be a carrot on a stick for you to keep risking your life, but it's a really tasty carrot" is a quote I'm using now
I also even love seeing other people with it at the start of a match and just watching them go speeding by at the start with a thick line of paint covering 1/4 the map. It’s really funny.
Those kids couldn't stop giggling? I couldn't either!
Squid OSHA wants to take this from us
I love Salmon Run, the weapon 'modifications' Grizzco does are LITERAL mods.
In terms of fun G roller is up #1.
fr, I thought my controller was having issues because of just how SLOW swimming is compared to the roller
My jaw actually hit the floor when I saw how fast the Grizzco Roller Movement speed is.
I got a 3 grizzco roller game and it was absolutely hilarious watching every one zoom around
The funniest thing that happened to me this Big Run, was when I got Grizroller in round 1, and then inkbrush in round 2. I never in my life thought I would roll with Inkbrush and groan about how painfully slow it felt.
*And this is coming from a Dynamo Main!*
my fellow roller mains

Someday this game will get private servers with custom events and some admin will create a 4 grizzco roller weekend purely because they can
So because i didnt want to interrupt my rolling. I did learn you can roll over drizzlers
When drizzlers Shoot or return from exposure, their hit box gets around the ground enought time to apply 400 damage.
you can hold forward as a roller when it does it so you only have to flick horizontally once to finish it off.
Case and point 9:22
You can use a 950 dmg combo to take it out immediately using 1 horizontal and 2 bumps with the right timing.
There’s also a way to do more damage, just tilt left and right rapidly and it deals enough damage to insta kill the drizzler, not guaranteed but it works half the time.
Every time I rolled into the water I laughed so hard. When accidental death becomes funny I know it’s going to be a good time
The grizzco roller is a bulldozer on steroids, 10/10 weapon
Roller ❌
Car ✔
Not to mention that it brakes the game literally, I’ve seen people clip through the map with this thing. Twice.
I remember when I first saw this thing, in the hands of another player flying across the screen as a blur, I said out loud: THAT IS NOT A ROLLER, THAT’S A CAR.
Such a fun weapon, but it made me very disappointed whenever I got the dynamo roller thinking it was the grizzco.
5:23 "Rollin' around at the speed of sound!"
🎵 Got places to go, gotta follow my rainbow! 🎵
getting a regular roller while the rest of your team got the grizzco roller was the worst fomo 🙏🙏 best big run by far
When a flipper flopper is in the ground you can spin on it and just kill it
I'm 22 and laughed the first time I got to use the Grizzco Roller lol.
Also, I don't remember where exactly in the game it says this, maybe it was promotional material, but I remember Grizzco weapons being referred to as illegally modified which has so many wild/fascinating implications about the world of Splatoon.
My first big run round i immediately got grizzco roller. I was just holding down right trigger to spray my weapon. The surprise and ecstasy when I accelerated to 60mph. When i expected just a standard shooter walkong around. They managed to make movement in this game feel like molasses.
The horrors of the accidental GrizzCo roller vertical flick
It's like running out of ink when you're stuck in salmonid oil... just helplessly mashing buttons and watching your impending doom
The Grizzco roller made me think about how we dont have a regular roller that's just... focused on rolling
All the rollers are good for their horizontal or vertical flicks, and rolling is just an afterthought
We need something like the Grizzco roller designed to kill by rolling, except balanced for regular use
Maybe this was Nintendo's way of testing the waters for that sort of thing, seeing how people would like it
The first time I saw this thing, it was in a dataminer video, and when the guy started rolling, I was pushed BACK
Everyone's first time using or seeing this thing is special, and thats the beauty of the Grizzco weapons
Edit: This weapon is the embodiment of "Hehehe [insert thing here] go Brrrr"
this weapon is quite literally exactly what I was expecting for a grizzco roller
high speed rolling, super slow vertical
This roller is making me very curious how a challenge where you are randomly assigned one of the grizzco weapons would go
I said months ago, long before any chatter of a GrizzCo Roller even truly began, some speculation on what they should do next if they ever did another weapon.
Played all weekend with friends on discord. We'd yell woo woo woo woo whenever we got this thing
6:09 it’s me… I’m the kid. I’m 39, but still that’s me.
My highlight of big run was when only I got Dualie Squelchers and the rest of my team got the grizz roller. They started spinning around me and I never felt so fucking bullied but at the same time filled with determination.
We can agree on one thing: S3 NAILED SR design. This thing looks nuts, you literally get launched/propelled by an engine!
When I get the Grizzco Roller in Big Run, I just speed around to the other edge of the map before the wave starts, and then I’m the first to die and can’t be revived for like 30 seconds while I’m just spamming “Help!” like I always do when I die
ok but like imagine the leg pains after running around with a roller that has a car engine strapped to it all day ,,,
i get that this is the same reasons that people don’t really like the Grizz brella. without the novelty of a brella shield, it basically just becomes a shooter. rather than playing into a novelty, it plays out of one.
Fire in Team Fortress 2 tends to make players move and search for healing, so it can feel empowering to:
1. Run in.
All of the Splatoon 3 Grizzco weapons have their own identity and benefits while I think the only super unique one from Splatoon 2 was Grizzco Slosher.
grizzco charger's also cool, at least
but grizzco brella's just a less precise shooter
4:20 unfortunately this part of the video is invalidated by the existence of the inkbrush, oopsie daisies!
Grizzco roller? Do you mean the lesser lawnmower?
Whenever I got the Grizz Roller, I felt a responsibility to use it well for my team. More power meant I had to carry my weight more.
I knew what ludicrous meant but did not piece together that ludic was the root word. i have learned a thing, ty
i honestly really love the vertical flick its fun to mess around with. plus the animation is hilarious your inkling is Struggling
Grizzco roller still gets cooked by big shots and its also an actual pain on mothership waves. Small price to pay for a school zone simulator tho
It only gets killed by big shots if you leave the big shot alive for more than the 3 seconds it takes to get there and kill it.
Ugh, but the amount of times I accidentally vertically flicked and got myself killed is almost in the double digits
I don’t know if nintendo already did this, but it would be cool to have one of those challenge battles, use the grizzco weapons.
6:43 Watching Gem ignore every Drizzler package absolutely ruined me
I adore how it gives me tge true W+M1 fantasy while slso oneshotting steelheads
this is how i felt the first time i got the grizz dualies too
theres something so primally satisfying about speeding across a huge distance while youre constantly exploding
Grizzco Roller, my beloved, I love it so much. I'm literally making a Supertramp "Goodbye Stranger" Parody Song about how much I love it.
fun fact about drizzlers! you actually can roll them at some angles if you jump while rolling
In a match one time I just started laughing as some dude with the grizzco roller just zooms past me
