  • It's all about that Flavocol baby.
    Flavacol: amzn.to/3jSQRq2

    Butter Flavor Topping: amzn.to/2I0EXNj
    Popcorn Seeds: amzn.to/326VB54
    Ingredients
    2-3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil/Canola Oil
    1/2 cup Popcorn Kernels
    1 Tablespoon Flavacol
    Salt to Tastes
Optional: 1-3 tablespoons Butter Flavor Topping/Clarified Butter/Ghee or Melted Butter
    Recipe
Heat oil and 3 popcorn kernels in large covered pot over medium high heat
Once the kernels begin to pop add in Flacacol and rest of the seeds and cover
Reduce heat to medium and shake the pot every few seconds until 5-10 seconds between pops
Remove and serve hot with your favorite toppings!

Theater popcorn is made with pure coconut oil and popcorn salt. The butter is the only manufactured ingrediance in it. That's actually oil with flavoring. I recommend using a Whirly-pop to make your popcorn in as it allows you to keep the kernel moving the whole time.

I LOVED my Whirly-pop! Used it so much that I broke it. The container practically turned black and got gunked up.

John Parisi: I have both the Whirley Pop and the West Bend Stir Crazy popcorn poppers. I love both gadgets because of their stirring rods but, I must give the edge to the Stir Crazy because it does all the work. Either popper will give you perfect "movie theater" popcorn.

The theatres had to change the name on the 'butter' dispenser to 'buttery', back in the late '70's or early '80's'. The butter manufacturers sued them for false advertising, since it wasn't real butter.

The coconut oil is more responsible for that movie theater taste, than the Flavacol. And you don't necessarily have to use Flavacol. Any butter-flavored seasoning salt will do.

“Poison that gives you a heart attack”... just what I want on my popcorn! Hahaha! How about caramel corn? Which, I will admit, I have gone to the theatre to purchase, without seeing a movie 😝

I've used that salt mix, as well as the solid shortening sticks when using a commercial Popcorn machine. They all have a stir device on bottom of kettle. Be sure to wipe kettle so all salt & no seeds left behind for Next batch🍿. You can find products at Smart & Final stores in SoCal. Stove top, you gotta keep it agitated to prevent burning of oil& salt w/ Caution., try it with a Wok ( like a stir fry )with a lid for bigger yields.

Thanks, looks like some more good ways to flavor.INTERESTINGLY: after some 60,years plus of popping corns..usually afi k ORVILLE REDENBACHERS WHITE, OR a switch TO yellow Kernals , & I mostly use hot air Poppers, coating Popped ( a microwave Popper is in Reserve): various coatings and mixes .. Noticeably, lately been using butter , with Garlics ( minced fresh cloves,And or/ Powders), & especially topped or coated with grated Parmesan ReggiAno .. Additionally, found using Sea Salts ( * various **!), virgin Olive Oils ( can be strong) to,coat or pour over popped Keenals, with Occaional Bacon Drippings in the Liquid coating...Anyways, good eating, etc. Fondly remember , when I was Home, raising our own Colored Kernals ( “ Indian , “or Special varieties, can be tricky to get HUMIDITY IN Kernals proper and Harvesting,etc......

It really doesn’t matter if oil is hot, need more oil too and once melted put kernels in right away and if your putting salt in it then you didn’t do the flavacol correct

Popcorn lover here. I remember going to bed and smelling popcorn aroma from the kitchen, made by Dad...’the Popcorn King, every kernel pops’. How many times did I hear that? LOL. However dear old dad came to our room bearing bowls of hot popcorn. Questions: are the first 2 links the same item? Why didn’t you specify Orville’s white popcorn? Truly the best! Can’t wait to try your recipe. Thanks for posting 😊❤️🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

Have you ever tried popping the corn using only the at the movies pop corn brand topping oil that you show in your video? I know people who claim that using only that oil the popcorn has an incredible flavor, even better than using coconut oil, and it makes sense to me, since that topping oil also has beta carotene to give it color and flavor on its own. I don't live in North America, but in my country we have Cinemark, and the popcorn there is extremely addictive, it's my favorite, of course they use flavacol, but I don't think so that is the only key to its flavor, I am sure they not use coconut oil, I have been trying to recreate that flavor since 2019, I have used different brands of butter flavored coconut oil, including the one you have in your video dutchman's and of course the great flavacol and yes, the popcorn tastes good but not as good as cinemark, i don't know exactly what oil they use there, i also tried the butter flavored canola oil and it was the worst thing that I have tried in my life, I begin to suspect that they use the topping oil that you show in this video both to pop the popcorn and to have that special flavor together with flavacol of course. But why do you say that using that would cause a heart attack? I hope it's a joke.

It’s probably the oil you’re using! Try with canola or coconut oil and make sure to constantly shake the pot.
