I'm so tired of not being able to get excited for new games. So please, please, please bring this one home brothers as i am starting to get excited and i don't want my hopes crushed yet again.
I stopped getting excited about new games a while ago :( But is nice when a game comes out of nowhere and becomes great so I'm always expecting surprises. The only exceptions for me that would get me super excited are something new from Mobius (Outer Wilds) and team Ico but alas who knows if that's ever gonna happen :(
...sorry, did you just say there's a race called the "Gath"?? Yeah, can't wait to hear about the other races like the Kragan, the Querians, and the Asaro. 😂 (Just a joke, this game sounds very cool)
Currently reading the Archimedes Engine (great book by the way) and there are many references, including a character called Leliana and a type of armour called a "bio-ware" suit. The best way I can describe the lore is that it's like a sci-fi version of High Fantasy, where technology functions almost as magic
Whatever else comes of this game. I can cling to the knowledge that I enjoy Drew's writing style and imagination. His attention to detail and world building is what hooked me with Mass Effect and the first 3 ME novels to start with.
The Tie-in Novel, 'Exodus: The Archimedes Engine' was so good at building up the world that this game is set in, I listened to it's nearly 31 hour length on Audible completely absorbed in it's world building, characters, and game concepts (like introducing the type of weapons, special abilities, and enemies you'll encounter in the game); this is easily my most anticipated game at the moment, next to Mass Effect 5, of course.
Exodus is the exact type of rival mass effect and bioware as a whole need to seriously surpass themselves up the standard of the RPG genre I don't say that as a doss against bioware but Exodus seriously LOOK like what I wanted Andromeda to be.... A deep new lore, a mature tone, an completly unknown and alien that defy the logic we had in previous games etc.... All I need is a decent gameplay it doesn't even to be great just decent The devs are also great at communicating and promoting their game.. Each welenwe have a something interesting coming
Mass effect is a hard act to follow but those of us that played me1 on release never thought it would grow to be as big is it did Exodus gives us a bit of optimism
I recently just got into mass effect because as a child I thought it was a COD like game and was uninterested boy was I mistaken I kinda dislike shooters but you mix shooters with an RPG in a sci-do world setting and you’ll have my attention. The more I play ME 1-3 the more I want games just like it.
I'm looking forward to it with moderate enthusiasm. I don't want to be overly excited like I was with Andromeda and Veilguard. even though I've been critical to a degree about those games I enjoyed them in the end for what they were.
Been waiting on this video! I swear NOBODY on the internt has been keeping up with Exodus like I have aside from you! Maybe I should start a page just about exodus info.....
For those that don't know, this studio was founded by former Bioware employees. Including James Ohlen, lead designer for Baldur's Gate 1&2, KOTOR 1, and DA: Origins, and Drew Karpyshyn, lead writer of Mass Effect 1&2
I really hope that the writers for the next mass effect give it a adult tone, instead of “marvel writing” and that EA gives BioWare the time to make it how they want too (and BioWare taking what their fans want into consideration) until then I’m super keen for this! Sci-fi is something I hold dear to my heart thanks to mass effect so to hear that this is similar to the trilogy definitely puts it on my radar now
So happy to hear you covering all the new exodus lore in this video, you have great takes But it would be good to hear how you found the Archimedes Engine in a dedicated video
I heard that there are Former Bioware and Bungie Devs working on this, and having played the Original Mass Effect and Halo games 16 Years ago myself I'm really hyped for this being Mass Effects Spiritual Successor.
Oh wow, I just looked it up and had no idea the book is by Peter F Hamilton. I've read a few of his book over the years and loved them. I'm mostly into audiobooks now for time, but will grab a copy when available.
Finished the novel yesterday. It’s great. Insofar as how it will affect the game: good worldbuilding - not top tier I’d say, but very far from bad, easily as good as Mass Effect. And lots of interesting potential plot points
I am so excited that you're covering this. Everything about this IP feels well thought out and executed and the trailers had me very invested. I actually picked up the book and I'm looking forward to reading it. One of the things Mass Effect 1 did so well was introduce the lore of ME without too much exposition/name dumping on the player. It was such a great experience and got me hooked immediately. Exodus seems very rich in lore but I hope they can incorporate the lore into a video game narrative well!
I have a feeling Exodus universe have already fully developed, completed and finished lore. Devs give us small bits and bytes here-there and make us hungry and nuts for it, and that is for sure good thing....can't wait.
I got the Archimedes Engine. I started it, but it was a slow start. But I definitely wanna see what else I has. And the rest that's coming out, I can't wait to play this when it comes out.
Have they explained why FASTER than light travel has a time dilation effect? Usually, it's traveling NEAR the speed of light that causes time dilation, and while I get this is Sci-fi, I'd still like to know some of the technobabble. The distances they have the PCs traveling mean we're definitely traveling hundreds of times faster than light...
@@FabianWinkler But the lore says they are using alien tech to go faster than light. Specifically "The Pathways-an interstellar transportation network accessed only via the Gates of Heaven". and honestly, if they were exploring at sublight, it wouldnt be months or years between missions, it would be centuries; the fact that humans used sublight to REACH the centauri cluster is why celestials had tend of thousdands of years, enough time to evolve into new species.
Hopefully it does come out next year. That way, I'll have something to look forward to. But, it's probably still too soon. Do you think "live stone" hints at some kind of settlement construction system?
To be fair, the beginning of the story sounds tons like Andromeda, but knowing it had Mass Effect OT veterans I know this game will actually be more fullfilling and with a more series tone. I cant wait.
Looking at this game reminds me of how much of a lightning in a bottle the Mass Effect series was/is for me. Exodus hasn't clicked for me yet. The trailers show a blue/grey aesthetic that is very common in science fiction but that I don't particularly like; it makes the world feel cold, not some place I would like to spend time in. Maybe future footage will show that the game has its own equivalent of the Citadel, but I don't think this is what they're going for.
I'm SUPER interested in this. It seems like it really incorporates a lot of inspiration from the Dune series, which is pretty goddamn exciting. Maybe a very small dash of Warhammer, but heavy Mass Effect seasoning. Here's to hoping it really delivers. I've been starved for a good Mass Effect successor since ME3 lol. ;__; Thanks for the video, this was a super cool intro. Hadn't heard of the game yet (I've been living under a rock called "Russian Invasion 2: Electric Fuckaroo, lol). Now it's DEF on my radar :)
Cautiously optimistic, but after Starfield I'm more cautious than optimistic. Still can't understand why no-one except BioWare can make a game that I find great, but maybe this time it's going to work.
Finally, the darkness and the messed up twists are back into the stories. They should have never left. If you want a good story you submerge into them.
As always, you do incredible work Kala! I for one need this game really bad, like right now lol! I have a feeling that summer 2025 could be the release window.
20:00 If anything, im more curious. Im open to trying it out and look into it deeper. Side note: Imagine a Mass Effect easter egg. Probably wouldnt mention any characters or events. I picture there would be some dialogue from a background character or random npc's having a conversation mentioning say, the Mass Relays or the Citadel. Who knows? Just saying it would be a cool easter egg.
The main character being named fully and predetermined sorta kills a lot of the rpg of it. Would be amazing if instead you could have started as anything, including the awakened.
Archetype is the game studio, which happens to be owned by WoTC…which is owned by Hasboro. As long as Hasboro doesn’t do what Hasboro likes to do (ex. micro transactions and other game enjoyment breaking bad habits) we should be in for a fantastic time. 😊
I hope you get to demo an eary version of this game as you and Spell&Sheild are really only UA-camrs really championing this game and you both deserve some love for it.. Archetype send that code😂
I have mixed feelings about this game being coined the next Mass Effect, but it’s less to do with this game as it does to do with BioWare’s OG trilogy. The universe they created was so…damn…good. And I would have preferred to see much more of it, if BioWare weren’t so darn incompetent now. The chances of Exodus having that compelling a universe seems slim, but I’ll give it a go.
I'm really excited for the dark direction they're going for Exodus. I'm not really into horror in my games, but Exodus just might turn me into a convert!
Thank god this is in production. Because I have zero faith in Mass Effect 4 after 100%ing DA Veilguard. I'm still angry at myself for giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt after Anthem and ME Andromeda and trying DA Veilguard.
There are a plenty of good signs, Drew Karpyshin on the board, nice story (lore), it looks soo adult, no oversexualized women etc. I just hope I could play for a male and it will be a character creator of some kind. In the trailer showed, there were like 4 scenes and 3 of them were clichés 😞 I hope the game will be better. My optimism is high, though 🙂
I’m pretty excited only because the ones who created mass effect 1 and 2 are behind it. I think they can really nail it again tbh. Drew is a fantastic writer so I think this could really be something as grandiose as mass effect 1 and 2 I did research on everyone on the team and some of the most well known sci fi authors in the world helping out with the world building it can either be the greatest sci fi story of all time in a video game or it misses the mark. after i finished DAV, i realized something. DAV, just like the 2 games before it (andromeda and anthem), is not a bioware game. they are EA games with a bioware name tag sticker on them. EA did what all big companies do to their competition. they bought the company, cashed in on their already established consumers, and then killed the company. ive got zero faith in ME5 at this point, and hearing about the people involved in exodus makes me excited for it. think ill pick up the book and see whats up. looks closer to mass effect than anything EA has put out since ME3, and it appears that its actually being made for adults.
"In act 1 when you choose which compani~~~~~oh...can I say this? "
"Nooo..."
I love those guys
I was laughing so hard when he said no
I wonder if they are gonna pull a kaiden-ashley one.
Seriously though why say no 🙄
We need that info yesterday..

Exodus look really interesting. Drew Karpyshyn being involved is a good sign.

Yeah, can't wait to hear about the other races like the Kragan, the Querians, and the Asaro. 😂
(Just a joke, this game sounds very cool)
😅 Yeah the "Remnant Technology" is what got me.
I'm perfectly A-OK with it too, haaahaaaaaaa!!!
Currently reading the Archimedes Engine (great book by the way) and there are many references, including a character called Leliana and a type of armour called a "bio-ware" suit. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Kaiden or Ashley???
Always Ashley!
Kaiden is boring!
No way. Kaidan is sweet and ashley is just straight up mean.
@@mrsgamer9218 Plus Kaidan is a Sentinel (so a biotic tanky soldier) whereas Ashley is a boring Soldier with guns.
@mrsgamer9218 Kaiden May be less interesting than Ashley, but he's definitely more powerful on the battlefield, especially in ME3
An excuse for replay is always a good thing :)!
That awakened dog scene in the book was the moment I was locked in. I can't wait for more of this universe.
I just read that part of the book yesterday. The Seafoam party was wild too.
Drew being involved has me so, so excited.
Whatever else comes of this game. I can cling to the knowledge that I enjoy Drew's writing style and imagination. His attention to detail and world building is what hooked me with Mass Effect and the first 3 ME novels to start with.
I think the sci-fi genre needed some new blood. This game looks promising.

Science, and Science Fiction/Sci-Fi is my favorite genre.
So with bias, the more Sci-Fi games the better.
And my GOD have we been deprived for far too long, lol. I'm right there with you, man.
if you havnt played observation yet... do it. its cheap short and has an amazing scify story that makes you think
Exodus is the exact type of rival mass effect and bioware as a whole need to seriously surpass themselves up the standard of the RPG genre

I'm cautiously optimistic. It looks very SciFi, but I don't tend to let myself get over hyped anymore.
Hopium that we get some sort of official release timeline this game awards. Really need a good sci fi fix.
Hopes are high!
After the latest releases from different big game companies the stage is free for some real quality games. And by God we need it.
I’ve never heard of this game till now but I’m absolutely buying this when it comes out. It’s really sounds like old school BioWare
Ok just reading about the protagonist background has me excited about this game.
It’s been on my radar since I heard Drew was involved.
Mass effect is a hard act to follow but those of us that played me1 on release never thought it would grow to be as big is it did
Exodus gives us a bit of optimism
Honestly the story setup sounds like if andromeda had been good.
I’m excited. Mass Effect-like games show have their own unique identity like Souls-like games do and be called as such
I recently just got into mass effect because as a child I thought it was a COD like game and was uninterested boy was I mistaken I kinda dislike shooters but you mix shooters with an RPG in a sci-do world setting and you’ll have my attention.

4:10 This takes place 40,000 years in the future? Someone must have commented that is what Warhammer 40,000 is as well. This can't be a coincidence.
This game looks like it has a lot of darkness to it, it’s making me hyped. The more disturbing the lore gets the more I’ll be intrigued

Thank you for reminding me of this game. Something to look forward to if ME4 fails to impress
The aliens are called Celestials, like the RTS game Stormgate.
I am excited, but also a bit skeptical about this whole time dialation stuff.

I wouldn’t say no to more third-person shooters. And I recently started the ME trilogy, and it’s not half bad (despite a little jank).
