Jose: God's love is NOT reckless. For His love to be reckless, God would have to be reckless. We know God is not because His actual word (the Bible) speaks against being reckless. God's love was carefully planned out... meaning God planned to give His Son BEFORE Adam and Eve sinned... before you sinned. Here is the definition of reckless: without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action. So... when you are singing that song... you are really singing that God gave His Own Son without thinking or caring about the consequences of doing so... which is completely wrong. God gave His Son so that you would believe in Him and have eternal life. It was all part of God's plan... God's carefully thought out plan to save reckless people NOT like Him.
@@charleswhubbard it's not saying that God is reckless, it is saying that the way he loves is reckless, meaning that he loves us regardless of the consequences of his loving us.
Richard Barham God is love. It is impossible to call His love reckless as if you are not referring to Him at all... as if His love has nothing to do with Him. If I told you your behavior is reckless... then said it really has nothing to do with you... would that make any sense to you? If you said God’s love is stupid... would you then tell people you were not saying God is stupid in any way... but just His love? I wouldn’t insult God like that.

I am Living testament to the truth set forth in this song. The pursuit of the Messiah even after those who deny him and reject him is truly Reckless and his love for us is never ending. I ran away from him for many years he was always they're right behind me waiting for me to turn around. God truly does love us and has an amazing plan for each and every one of his children. However God will not leave the guilty unpunished, the guilty are all who have not been drawn by God to faith in Christ Jesus. The sinless and spotless lamb sacrificed for the sins of the world. None deserving but God demonstrating His love while we were yet sinners sending His Son to die for us. I love this song bc it's true God loves us not for what we do but who we are bc we are his children and he loves us no matter what we do. We just have to believe and praise and worship our holy God for what he has done and continues to do.

What does the 99 mean?
It's from a parable Jesus says in the Bible. A shepherd has 100 sheep, but then only one goes missing. The shepherd then leaves the 99 other sheep to find the 1, then brings it back to the others. It shows how Jesus is with us. He will save any of those who stray, no matter which of the 100 sheep we are.
