This might be the end of the road. There was so much potential with a mod that would allow you to add entirely new species to your modded servers. You could have literally added your own custom Type-H's and provided an experience to players that matched the days when hypo's would invade servers but few people got to play them. I could have actually added the Nycta through this system. It was already working for different species of Raptor and Galli. I'm going to push to make it happen, All my years of play The isle I've wanted this. I'm going to be real with you though, I need YOU to comment if you would return to legacy if this mod was released or start playing to experience new things. New creatures, New maps, New mechanics, Everything. Please tell me below.

One thing I don’t miss about legacy, the near heart attacks from hiding in a bush and listening to whatever was hunting you Donna roar in the distance

@@RevyTempest6 I have to admit the night vis is better in evrima.. But it gets boring in evrima sitting in a bush waiting to be told to migrate due to food, having to sit a lot longer due to stam regen being absolute dog sh*t and only being able to talk to ur own species in a set vicinity. _Scenery is nice but it's just far more entertaining playing on legacy imo_

It's rather amazing to me how a game that is centered around adapting in a hostile environment refuses to adapt itself either because of pride, ego or just not caring. The Legacy branch of The Isle is something that has never and will never be touched on by the devs ever again, with the exception of its eventual termination. It's so mind boggling how The Isle can exist in an environment where it is actively competing with games like Path of Titans who finds great success because they allow their community to mod and make changes to the game and the specific experience from server to server. Modding in the past has kept a lot of games past their prime because it's a good way to both boost interactivity with the community and make free content for the game. For The Isle, a game that can take YEARS for a substantial update drop on top of the success PoT has you'd think that the devs would allow the Legacy branch to altered and ran by the community. In a world that is as competitive as Dinosaur Survival games you either adapt or die and I feel like The Isle is heading more towards the ladder than the former.
They are working on a modding system for the evrima branch. If I remember right on of the devs will be making tutorials for it if I remember right
Idk. What your saying makes sense, except that the market for dinosaur games is, ironically, getting saturated.
Which is crazy considering how few good ones there are, but... I think thats just it is that, theres so many games in general. To be worth spending time on, the minimum threshold is very high.
Games that would have been revolutionary 20 years ago arent even worth touching now.
Considering all that, there is alot of wisdom in trying to force whichever players you already have captive to play together, even if they might not want to, especially when your game relies on player population.
Its better for 25 people to play a game they like less but like enough to tolerate so that 100 people are playing the same game than it is to have four games with 25 people playing and nobody to interact with. Even if that means 10 people quit playing entirely.(just picking random numbers to make the point)
Legacy was never a good game. The isle devs are super selfish and shortsighted and greedy and lazy and toxic.
But I do think that in this one specific regard, they may be making the wiser decision.
Keeping legacy alive hurts Evrima. And Legacy was just built poorly from the very beginning. People who liked it dont want to accept it, but it really was just a bad 'game'
Its not a cool reality, but in this one case I do actually think the devs made the right choice.
This game holds a higher standard though, none of the other games have the same feeling of weight, the animations are often stiff and moving around feels like trying to turn left while driving a train on a straight track. The other games have their glorified mechanics and child like quest systems, but this game is the only one staying true to it's original attempt at being realistic (Don't confuse this with being literal). And modding is not what makes a game good, if you have to rely on mods to make the game fun and enjoyable, then the game isn't fun and enjoyable. The isle is the only dino sim that actually feels like a dino sim and not some neon surfing game where you glide over terrain and bark like a puppy.
@@Sm0lPerson First, I would say The Isle has the clunkeiest movement. PoT has precise turn so you don't walk off a cliff and while it isn't completely momentum based like The Isle, it does mean you don't fling yourself off a cliff because your got too close to the edge and decided to turn. Second, no game should rely on mods and no game does, none within this genera at least however, mods do keep the populous happy, entertained and continue interest in the game and for The Isle where an update takes half a year, it would be greatly appreciated. Mods also aid in allowing the community to express themselves and their creativity which, in turn, makes them more emotionally attached to the game. After all some of the modders in PoT spend months on their mods, most of which are just adding new species to the game, that's dedication to the game that I don't think The Isle has. People play The Isle when an update drops for maybe 2-3 months, drop the game because lack if interest and don't pick it up again until the next update. This isn't to bash The Isle's update speed, I understand it's a complicated game with a lot of in depth mechanics but, the fact remains that mods would help bring the community together, allow the community to express their creativity and keep a general interest in the game for longer. I would also like to note that no Dinosaur simulator game is nearly as complex as it could be and there is no better than The Isle. Most of the game play is sitting in a bush for hours on end waiting to grow and when you do eventually grow, go out and find things to kill. That isn't really a simulation of true Dinosaur life. You don't have any diseases or ways to maintain your Dinosaur's health by using the environment and the environment itself is pretty lack luster since natural disasters don't exist or something as simple as temperature. Point being whilst no Dinosaur sim game is as good as it could be, to me The Isle is the absolute minimum you can have. PoT's quest system isn't really any better but at least it gives you something to do, though boring, while growing.

I really do miss Legacy. I’m not the biggest fan of Evrima, so the idea of modding Legacy to revive it sounds amazing!! You have my full support!
Same. While a part of me loves the more realistic additions in Evrima, it's hard for me to play it as my computer can't handle it (it handles Legacy well, but Evrima I just get a slideshow). And as long as the mods are like the majority of PoT mods, I’d happily play it, just so I can hold onto Legacy that little bit longer.
@@phantomthedragoness Same. While my computer can handle Evrima, it's just not as fun. It's a starvation simulator and has a very unbalanced creature roster. The devs have focused so much on making the game look stunning that it severely lacks in gameplay.

@@bonelessteeth2075untrue, legacy is butt riding and one shotting everything with Rex's 1.2k bite force, it's not what I'd call "balanced". I think alot of people prefer legacy over evrima because of how they feel when they play legacy, it's really nostalgic
@@VV-db8vh There's definitely issues with Legacy, but at least I'd take ass-riding from a rex over starving to death 47 times due to lack of AI any day, because at least I can run from a rex or bite it enough it'll bleed out even after I die.
If you could do all the stuff you're saying we could with that mod, I'd definitely come back and play again it'd be so much fun and it's what I've always wanted to see happen as well
I would absolutely love to see this mod return. I always love seeing people's creativity and it'd be such a shame to let all this effort go to waste
It will be a shame to see it go, when it will eventually and enevitably be gone, however for the thousands of hours that I've played the game and with the community, I'm proud to see them go down swinging. I have a lot of fond memories of it and the people that i played with, back when I played games all night without a care in the world, oh how I miss those days. So thanks legacy, it was one hell of a ride.

And Yes, I personally want to see Legacy Modded continue as its own thing.

Never left and don't plan to- And this just makes it all the more worth it to stay! It would allow those with a low-running PC or whatever gaming Console to continue to play the Isle whilst giving those who want more a reason to continue! If you gusy go forward with this- I'll DEFINETLY keep playing and I know serveral people who would aswell.

that Swamp looks so creepy, I loved how dead the trees were.. that looked real good, I feel it fits.. the swamp being this really scary place. So wouldn't mind if the swamped looked more like that.
Though the rest of the map didn't look as good, The Grey Colour overall didn't look that good.

I wish I could go back to the legacy isle days, was so fun, I used to play with a few mates, remember when we had that rock, forgot it’s name now because it’s been so long but it was a hotspot and utahs would nest on top, those were the fun days

i've met so many cool people through legacy that it holds a special place in my heart - i'd love to see what the mod community has to offer. seeing the nycta as it's own species in legacy would be amazing. i wish the isle's dev team wasn't so anti-mod and spiteful. it'd open up so many doors for this dead game lmao

I would definitely try and rejoin legacy with the mods. The only reason I haven't yet is because I can never figure out how the mods work, let alone where to get them and install them.

Yea the main reason I barely go back to Legacy is that.. once you get good at the game... It stales... A fresh stat soread, different creatures and such would bring life to it. Hopefully Evrima will let them mod to some extent in the future much like how this is.

I would come back for sure! Ive played the Isle since the very very beginning and I like Legacy alot more then evrima. There were mods for skins and maps in the past and it made the Isle alive with so many players. I hope i can see those days again

I’ve never seen a dev team be so prideful that they won’t even allow the possibility of people modding their own servers completely. What kind of creator says no to free work? Look at PoT! It’s AMAZING what people can do when given the opportunity. Imagine what people could do in The Isle.
It sucks, truly. Because this is a good game, concept and all. Then…
First time I was turned off from playing a game because of the creator itself. I hope you can fight to make this happen, because they’re completely disregarding YEARS of loyal players. If you’re just going to dunk Legacy, please allow it to be completely community ran. So many people still play it, and also have reverted back to it.

I lov Legacy for the social aspect that Evrima just doesn't quite have. Not for the sheer fact there's a lack of global chat interaction, but merely that there isn't a desire to dog fight and one up each other. Legacy holds the values of surviving that Evrima just doesn't quite own up yet. But when they 'patched' Legacy a few years back and broke their day/night cycle and the lighting for it, it became next to unplayable without gamma. And seeing servers that aren't in your region? Good luck. I'd come back to it with a new fresher life with modded, would defs do that given the chance.

Personally, no, it won't make me want to play legacy. When I first got the game, which was before update 4, I played Legacy 1st but later tried out Evirma.
Dispite the reduced content it felt much better to play and use.
I was honestly surprised to find out by this video it still has a sizeable player base still active on it.
Honestly I would rather wait for Evirma updates; and I heard moding capabilities is being worked on for Evirma.
Though I will say part of the reason for me not having any desire to go back to legacy is due to finding a decent unofficial Evirma server and discord community.
If the Custom Species mod is forever shutting its doors, that's truly a hit for the isle as a whole. But if they are willing to pop back up for Evirma, I truely believe it would be an overall net positive for the game and it's future player base. 👍

The Isle is a dead game.. every iteration just adds more issues, problems, bugs, problems and the narcissists behind this game refuse to listen to their community!! Eventually they won't have a community or a game given the direction this game is going!! I personally have not taken The Isle seriously in around 7-8 years!! Sometimes the best thing is to simply let it all and move on!! I know it is hard as I have just done it with the Ark franchise and I had over 5,300 hours in that game or almost a full year of my life!!
I wouldn’t necessarily blame a game on you ‘moving on’. Most people don’t play games for thousands of hours and still expect an innovative experience. In a community of thousands, it’s impossible to ‘listen to the community’ about everything. And there are no games that are completely bug free or perfect. It’s unfair to label a game as dead just because you no longer enjoy it after thousands of hours of relatively free entertainment.

As I said I have not taken The Isle seriously for 7-8 years because it is a joke of a game!! As for Ark: SE.. they closed down 20,000 official servers and allowed us to host the data on our private servers which as soon as a 'snapshot' was loaded those special private servers they had constant issues, bugs, crashes and never ending problems. We were subsequently FTP locked out of our own private servers and then I found out there are plans for our private servers to also be closed down no later than the 31st of December 2024. Ark: SE has been overrun for years by cheaters, hackers, dupers, mesh'ers and the corrupt pocket devs who they bribed with real money for protection!! Ark's dirty devs and greedy, lying Chinese publishers cheated, hacked and misused their own GM Accounts in their own game!! The Chinese publishers would misuse their GM Accounts to kick, ban, restart servers, roll back servers until it was so bad they were given their own sub-section of official servers titled The 'Conquest' Servers!! Many would say the dirty devs and greedy, lying Chinese publishers tribe 'Tea' would cheat, hack and rob / steal from legit players to sell the stuff on the grey and black Chinese markets. Their tribe of Tea gave them a way to hide who they are and to sell anything they wanted on the Chinese grey and black markets and it went on for years!!
At the end, not so long ago Ark: SE was so badly overrun and ruined by cheaters, hackers, duped gear, meshes and the corrupt pocket devs that it literally changed how the game was both played and experienced. Alas in the background, unknown to the community the greedy, lying Chinese publishers misappropriated over $1.3 Billion USD out of the Ark game and franchise to use on side 'get rick quick' projects that had nothing to do with the game or the franchise the $1.3 Billion USD was obtained from. The Chinese publisher has a proven track record that anything he touches goes sour because he is shady and dodgy to the extent he should be behind bars and not involved with any businesses at all!! Of course the $1.3 Billion was lost while some said his wife holds a separate business that was earning something to the tube of $1 Million USD a month or some shady deal like that!! Sadly not a cent went back into Ark: SE or the community who parted with $1.3 Billion USD and so Ark: Scam Ascended was conceived. A way to make the community pay for the same game and content they / we already paid for twice so the dirty devs and the greedy, lying Chinese publisher could conduct a quick cash-grab from the community to fund the game they lied to the community and their investors about for years.. Ark: II or as I call it Ark: Souls Edition.
Both the dirty devs and the greedy Chinese publishers liked about Ark: Scam Ascended and the product the community was sold was not the game or product they were promised. The game has inherited all the bugs and issues people wanted fixed from Ark: SE which means they ported the game in and they still chose to dev-wipe their community to cut corners and rush the product out for sale!! The new Anti-Cheat is no better than the one it replaced and as I type this I could find any number of cheat & hack packages that work flawlessly or even better in Ark: Scam Ascended!! As for the numbers the greedy, lying Chinese publishers told their investors they sold 600,000 copies of Ark: Scam Ascended within the first few weeks of it being available for sale. They did not disclose how many copies they have given away free to the Chinese market with the request for a positive review. The game itself crashes constantly, the servers have constant issues, the UE5 upgrade is virtually unplayable unless you have a super computer with a 40x series graphics card or you turn off all the UE5 upgrades and even when you have met the hardware paywall, then the game is virtually unplayable as it has all the old bugs and issues from Ark: SE with a laundry list of new ones on top of those!!
Numbers do not lie so lets go over that.. within the first week Ark: Scam Ascended had around 37,000 stable players and that means 563,000 players left.. that is a drop off of around 94% of the people who purchased the game according to the greedy, lying Chinese publishers. This alone makes many in the community wonder if the greedy, lying Chinese publishers are not lying to the investors and the community again!! Of the community as a whole only 4.5% play Ark: Scam Ascended and that is the toxic 4.5% who ruined Ark: SE for around 7-8 years with their constant cheating, hacking, duping, meshing and bribing corrupt pocket devs to look the other way and enable all of it. Ark: SE had become a cesspit of constant cheating, hacking, duping and meshing where our support tickets were often automatically closed and ignored. The same is now happening to Ark: Scam Ascended as the toxic 4.5% convert that game into a worse cesspit than Ark: SE was ever in!! In my case 100% of my support tickets were ignored despite I provided names, dates, times and video evidence of all of it!! Ironically Ark is in debt and with all of these sales they failed to pay off their most recent debts but more will come out in their next financial statements and summaries. Either way the Ark franchise is both creatively and financially bankrupt but worse it is bankrupt with something else.. the good players and community who left!!
I am one of the 95.5% who left the Ark franchise and have no interest in coming back to it until things are cleaned up. I refuse to play in a game that is overrun and ruined by constant cheaters, hackers, dupers, mesh'ers and corrupt pocket devs who are on the take for RMT bribes!! I refuse to play on any official servers with the likes of Tea on them who come to railroad legit players and when legit players win they are subsequently kicked and game banned from the official servers. Just ask The Island Boys how it went when they tried to play by the rules and fairly against Tea!! Ark is quickly becoming a niche game where only a few will play it. That is exactly where The Isle has been for years.. that game lost the majority of its good community who got fed up with waiting for the game we were promised that we still don't have!! The niche players / consumers of both Ark: Scam Ascended and The Isle do not form enough for those games to continue in the long-run and with both they suffer from dirty devs who refuse to listen to their players or consumers because they are toxic, arrogant, ignorant, narcissists who have killed the game that made them in favor for the game that could indeed break them!!
As for The Isle.. I recorded 90 minutes of my own gameplay with all the bugs, issues and problems and I do not understand how this trash could come down the pipeline to the public but it has!! I barely ran into people and when I did all we were doing was spending half or more of our time trying to recover stamina so we could move around in a setting that was absolutely awful with this new and broken migration system!! I think it is safe to say until massive change is made in both Ark and The Isle then both games are already dead.. the few who have hung on just don't realize it yet!! Ark will be killed because of the toxic people behind the game who pandered to the toxic 4.5% who ruined both the game and the reputation of the game and its franchise. The Isle will be killed because the bugs, issues, problems only increase and no one listens to what the community want while it will take another 10-15 years to finish the game. Looking at this most recent update one has to ask why bother and should the game and project simply be dropped at this stage as it is an epic failure!!
Consider this.. more people play in Ark: SE and The Isle Legacy than in the new versions and clearly some are upset the old version / legacy version won't have as much support or certain features at all!! As I said.. maybe it is time for everyone to just let go of these dying and soon to be dead games and franchises and just move on!! I get no reward out of saying that either.. I have lost around $40,000-$50,000 in investment for Ark: SE alone over my 7-8 years of being involved in that game with around a year of my life wasted on a game they just killed!! I was renting 13 private servers for Ark: SE and I have been renting my own private server in Ark: SE for around 7 years. In closing down the 13 Ark: Servers I had I have saved myself around $12,000-$13,000 for this financial year alone but what is the point in keeping them open when the dirty devs and greedy, lying Chinese publishers have plans to end the private servers in a years time anyway?? All I can say is these games are dying and it won't take long for them to be dead unless massive changes happen behind the scenes of both games and I honestly doubt that will happen!! My advice is enjoy what you have for the moment.. be prepared to let it all go and look for other games to play or find other pastimes to occupy yourself with!! What I do know is the communities left over for both games are pretty darn toxic and nothing that toxic lasts because it always eats itself up from the inside out and worse the numbers necessary to keep both games alive in the long-run just aren't there!!

I just wanna play The Isle like I use to, as much as Everima is cool, Im not able to play it for some dumb reason, if this was made official I would gladly return to Legacy Isle again, modded or not
I wish for legacy to live. after the new update for Gateway I am quite literally unable to play the game for how piss poor the optimization is. I feel like I got scammed, since I got the game, spiro was fine, I was able to play without hickups, not the best FPS but quite playable (40~ FPS average).
since the Spiro update my fps is a steady 10 to 5. tis' the reason I returned to legacy. and if the community manages to revive it, hell, maybe even break it off entirely from the Isle development cicle (so the devs can never close it), I wouldn't complain. I payed for the game, and then the game denied me the ability to play it again.
I see a lot vids on legacy, how/why is it dying?
