I visited Castle Combe for their Halloween Action day recently, and caught a lot of exciting action on the infamous Quarry Corner. We watched the public track time (always entertaining), pro drifting (a sight to behold) and the parade laps too (.)
Unfortunately, after the heavens opened, providing heavy rain onto the circuit, the show's only Evo spun out, which was collected by a mk6 Fiesta ST sitting duck.

Fiesta was pretty limited in terms of places he could have gone, only person that could of helped that is the evo driver but in terms of public track days defensive and preventative driving isn’t commonly known. Something I try to focus on drifting
he could off gone wide around him and not gone for the inside and braked totaly would have saved that

Also, I shouldn’t of gone in I was the other side of the track and no flags out by the time I was passing the pits
But unlucky on your side really people saying that you could of gone round the outside of him but in the moment you are never sure if there is something at the near side of you and don’t want to collect them into it as well. Was the car a complete write off?

Went to Castle combe 5 times this year, didn't do this one, but love this circuit. location at the start is where I usually go to. That bloke next to you at the end sounded insufferable
That track is cool, wish i had access to a track like that without having to drive / trailer a car 600 miles
It's the closest track to me & I wish I could swap it for something like Cadwell. Bit too oval-ey imo
@@R03333 It's not particularly technical, but it's a great track for a beginner as it's not too intimidating. I go there once or twice a year and it's always a blast.
Agree that Cadwell is awesome with the elevation changes though.
@@Orion40000 yeah it's plenty difficult enough for a shite amateur like myself but would like some variation to it. Slim pickings in the southwest for circuits so I'll take what I can get though!
Few comments on here dissing the loud fella with the camera. I’ve seen him on a few videos, seems like he’s very much into the car scene and is well liked in that community. Give the lad a break he’s enjoying himself he’s not being a dick, causing shit or being obnoxious like half of the UK at present. Cheers.

I'd say that was certainly crossing the line of obnoxious with how loud he was being. No one wants to hear that all day.

He should become a commentator for a motorsport series. I've seen him this year at the retrorides gathering in Goodwood
I've met him at a lot of car shows. He gets about. No matter if I'm half way up the country or down at goodwood for some little car show. Denton will be there. He's a staple to the car community! He just a lovely and passionate guy about cars.

I’m the owner of that “very well polished” red cupra. The organiser of the club stand gave me paper chains with no tape so was forced to improvise

nice spot at 6:52 technically it's a mini Scamp mk2 kit car, basically what the original moke should have been, with the bigger wheels came better clearance, so actually a half decent green-laner. Fun little things even if it feels like the duplo version to the original lego moke. Surprisingly strong owners club, and more or less still in some form of production today.
Yes, I built mini mokes as ICE and EV last year before I quit for a better job but they’ve EV only now and most of them go abroad to golf courses or hotel chains etc and at 32.5k each I see why

Im amazed how similar Castle Coombe is to Goodwood. That corner looks just like Madgewick.
Yeh a lot of UK race tracks have similarities as they stem from perimeter roads of airfields.
@@AdamC3046 that makes sense. I didn't realise Castle Coombe was originally an Raf base. I will definitely have to check it out at some point. Looks like a great track.

I used to visit for Supercar Test Day in the late 80’s. Last weekend before school in September.
It was a DeTomaso owners club organisation, but there were all sorts there. I remember Aston’s, D-Type Jags, several Countach, Alfa SZ.
It was also the start of cammo graphics on Saphire Cosworths.
Standing at Quarry back then looked a bit different, but those supercar drivers used to spin there just the same 😂

The fiesta driver is at fault, he had enormous time to hit the brakes. He was not paying attention to what's happening in front of him.

I love Castle Combe, only issue if the noise it produces. Not a complaint though, love the sound of the drifts and the engines flying around the track. (For those not following, I live in Castle Combe)

The Fiesta did have somewhere to go; it could have run outside the Evo.
Inertia was helping it too.
Yeah and the evo could have just kept his foot down and spun off onto the grass but shit happens.

No chance, the back end on the fiesta let go as soon as he lifted to try and avoid the Evo so it was going to happen one way or another
@@DjDolHaus86 yes, he was basically a passenger for there on in.
Not really, he seemed to want to go outside, but the Evo came back around and back inwards, you see the Fiesta driver decide on trying to go inside just before that moment, since the Evo was first running wide, resulting in lift off oversteer and no more place to go.
This could happen to anyone really and definetly I wouldn't blame the Fiesta driver.

First time ever going on track here, they explicitly tell you don’t overtake on corners then everybody overtakes you on the corners, not fun when your driving a 150hp Nissan 😂
