I just recently managed to get myself an s13 driving and drifting for around 2k, you can still do it, just takes some work and scouring facebook marketplace. It isn't a perfect car by any means but its a perfectly capable car for me to learn in
I feel like the z31s are actually a good alternative. It takes a bit more modding oit of the box as far as suspension is concerned but weld that diff and early 80s models with a boost controller and intercooler can easily be cranked to about 300hp with the stock fuel setup.
The best option is to buy a hobby/project drift car that someone didn't have the time to finish. You'll probably need to fix/replace a bunch of stuff but you're going to be doing that anyway.
@ they did mention in the drag cars that they have been mentioning the super charger in the build videos as teasers that went unnoticed, maybe this is the same?

You guys really need to go to a Midget or Sprintcar school like the Cory Kruseman school. It is in Ventura at the Ventura speedway. Cory is a great dirver, and even Hailey Deegan goes to his school for a freshenup. It would make for an awesome episode, and different enough that I think your viewers would like it. Midgets are 67 in wheelbase with about 350hp and 1100lbs. No transmission or clutch. Sprint cars are about 10 inches longer, 300 pounds heavier, and over double the HP.
You should have used a newedge mustang 95-03 but for less then 6k. The 240sx is not an affordable starter car at 10k beat to death. Mustang is easy to upgrade v8 very solid beginner power and solid engine and drivetrain
You definetly need to know about Toyota Mark X 300G Premium….. its JDM so it may not be available in US of A but boy it is fun to drive I own the 2007 model which is The most beautifull good looking model and its front engine rear wheel drive layout with a 3.0 V6 its just Amazing peice of machinery ever built

Depends on the area that you are in, from what I’ve noticed with being in Chicago you can find a rusted drift ready S chassis for under 10k
