PROBLEM WITH TV SETS: For some reason, there was only ONE company that did things correctly in 2022. The company that did things correctly was TCL with their Class 6 model. I'm referring to the fact that virtually all the TV sets with a framerate of 120hz have four HDMI inputs, but only two of the HDMI inputs have a framerate of 120hz, and of those two 120hz inputs one of them is used as the eARC input - which essentially means there is only one HDMI input with an input of 120hz. TCL did things correctly by having two HDMI inputs of 120hz, while having the eARC on a different input. This allows you to use both of the two HDMI inputs for 120hz items.
QUESTION: At 12:20 you explain the TV does not have "Official G-Sync" as a feature. You then point out this is "not a big deal." Your basis seems to be because the TV also has "some form" of "generic" type of "VRR." Does this mean the generic type of VRR offers the same performance as "Official G-Sync" technology?

Non mini LED, VA panel... ignore the marketing. Watched NOPE... plenty dark... no light leakage or blooming with 4 2.1 hdmi ports. Wished this one existed lol. Wanted to try it.
I follow your reviews because you really know your stuff. I bought the European model and I'm very happy. Picture quality, deep black and very bright picture. I'm looking forward to your settings.Greetings from Greece
Thanks, this was a very concise and informative review of this TV. I have a LG OLED C7 with some pretty bad burn in that I'm looking to replace, and simply don't want to risk another OLED purchase (despite how incredible their picture quality is). I guess I would be considered a "power user" as 90% of my TV use is either gaming or watching UA-cam via a small form factor PC hooked up to the TV. As much as people say modern OLED don't burn in, I simply don't trust them. I was considering Sony mini LED, but ironically they have issues with their game mode, and I don't really look at Samsung since they refuse to support Dolby Vision, so that really only left me with LG and this is currently the best mini LED TV they offer. This TV is under $1,500 (at time of comment) for the 65" so I think I'll go ahead and pick this up.
IPS panels are FAR BETTER than VA panels. I recently bought a computer monitor with a VA panel. The "'viewing angles" from this "VA" panel were TERRIBLE! The VA panel was so terrible that even if you were sitting in front of the 22" monitor, if you moved your head a bit to the side, you would see changes in the colors on the screen. Now I know exactly what RTings talks about in their reviews of VA TV sets from Sony, Hisense, TCL, and others saying that the moment you start to rotate directly from in front of the TV, you see incorrect changes to the color. After this, I returned the monitor and got an IPS panel. The IPS panel was MUCH BETTER and didn't experience that problem with "Viewing Angles." The "blacks" may not be "as black" but I will exchange the individual color of "black" for a billion other colors any day.
Excellent review, but (like a few hundred others here) I am anxiously awaiting that promised SETTINGS video! My 75-inch set from Costco arrives on Monday. It looks like RTINGS will be testing it soon, so I guess that (or possibly Consumer Reports) will be the alternate source if you decided not to follow through on this.

It's down to $1399 at Best Buy. Would love to see it drop another $100 or so. Due to my living room having a lot of windows I'm considering this over an oled.
@@rootedrotor525 I like it. A good fit for a bright living room. Looks great at night too tho. There are several YT videos on how to tweak the settings.

Great review. It's funny how hard it is to find a review on this tv. It seems like a good value to me. The biggest concerns in a tv for me are motion and viewing angles. Sounds like this tv has that in the bag.
The QNED85 is what I hoped it would be based on this review. The problem is I had the 65QNED85 since Wednesday, boxed it up on Friday and it's scheduled to get picked up this coming Wednesday. High APL scenes look fantastic. Minimal DSE. Motion is great without interpolation. Design is very premium and this year the QNEDs have added an inner position for the stand feet. But outside of those high APL scenes I much prefer my B8. I thought blooming and blotchy black uniformity were quite noticeable with a variety of content. I'm not inferring Classy is mistaken about the dimming control but if you're accustomed to the light control of an emissive television you're probably going to find it distracting. It's 100% my fault for thinking I could live with the mechanisms of LD. I mean Classy did sort of warned of this in his live stream video. I also had a couple of hot spots with my panel and had no damage to the box or the Styrofoam inside it. They're pretty apparent every time you turn the TV on as it momentarily shows a black screen with LD disabled.
Love the OLEDs, but they literally cost twice as much. (75" vs 77") I'm coming from a 14 year old LCD, I suspect this QNED85 will be look good to me. Cheapest way for me to get the class leading LG gaming features and Mini-LED. (The QNED80 is edge lit and has no DolbyVision, they shouldn't call it QNED!)
@@momsbasement656 I was in the same boat. Either i settled for a smaller 65” C2 or a 75” Qned85. 75” was cheaper after sales so it was somewhat a no brainer for me
I was going to buy the 75" for 2k but found the 86" for $2100 at HSN after an extra $20 of my first purchase. Just wondering if the settings video is out yet. Thanks for helping me decide to go with this TV
Thanks Classy for the video. Is there any way to tell if the blooming on a qned85 is "part of the tv/reasonable" vs blooming/light leakage that is abnormal? I got one of these in the 55 inch size for my step son (didnt want to get him an OLED; he plays roblox,, fortnite a lot) and noticed a bit of light leakage at the upper right corner.
I'm very impressed with this tv. Do you think its worth waiting for the qned90 v2022 to come out or just buy the qned85? Thank you for the wonderful content.
QUESTIONS: 2022 has now come to an end. We are now halfway through January of 2023. The QNED 90 model that you expected to be released by the end of 2022 has still not been released. I noticed virtually all the retailers sell this Class 85 model for 22 That is based on the 5th generation CPU. However, Best Buy sells a 2022 model called "Class 83" that seems virtually identical to the 2021 model called "Class 90." Both the 2022 Class 83 and the 2021 Class 90 are both based on the 4th generation CPU. I was talking to someone in the store about this, and I was was told the "Class 83" for 2022 is just an "updated" version of the "Class 90" from 2021. Do you know if this is true? What are the differences between the 2022 Class 83 and the 2021 Class 90? Also, do you know if LG still plans to release a "Class 90" version in early 2023?
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Thank you for explaining. Do you know "why" LG would cancel the 2022 version of the 90? Also, what do you think is better between the 2022 Class 83 that is sold only at Best Buy and the 2022 Class 85? Have any improvements been made to the Class 83 compared to the 2021 Class 90? - such as the problems you spoke of with blooming or the viewing angle? There are some things that are bit fishy with the LG TV sets on the Best Buy website. For example, when you look at the Class 83 TV, it says the "normal" price is $2,499 while the Class 85 "normal price is $1,999. This seems incorrect, because "83" is a lower number than "85." Best Buy then sells the "83" for the price of $1,499 and claims it is "$1,000 Off," while the "85" is sold for "$1,799" and Best Buy claims it is "$200 Off." This seems like an even worse scam than what Best Buy does with their LG monitors. For example, there is a 22" LG Monitor sold for $79.99 at Best Buy. Best Buy claims this is "$80 Off" and lists the "normal" price as $159.99. However, when you go to the LG website, you see the product is always sold for the price of $79.99, and that is what everyone else sells it for, too. I had previously bought the Hisense U8H. But, I returned it because there were just too many problems with "Stuttering" and "Posterization" and "Macroblocking" and other problems that needed firmware updates. According to the specifications, the Hisense U8H is much "Brighter" than the 2022 Class 85. But, the "viewing angle" really does make a difference to me and my family. Does the Class 85 have "Stuttering" problems with the motion when watching 24fps movies on Blu-ray?
Wow, this seems like a fantastic tv for those who don't want OLED. Just wondering if it's better or similar to the QNED90 2021 model since that QNED90 is discounted heavily right now.
im stuck between this tv and a Sony x90k at the moment, play a lot of ps5 as well as stream content off an Apple TV 4K. Is this TV the better choice for all around picture quality ?
Classy did you do your picture settings/colour correction video for this tv? I can’t find it in your video section bud. I’m just wanting to dial in my red a bit bud. I hope you can help me out bro 🎉
Excellent review. Subscribed. I was all set to purchase the Sony X90K 75" since I'm still on the Sony KDL70W850B. I know, I know...I'm way overdue for an upgrade. Then I saw the QNED85 75" on sale at Costco and really like the design and picture. Your review helped tip the scale and I pulled the trigger on the QNED85. It just has more value than the X90K which is only full array LED and I am not one to spend around $2700 for Sony's X95K which is their mini LED version. Looking forward to your settings suggestions on this model as well. Hope to see it posted soon. Thanks again for sharing your expertise on this panel.

What LED tv would you suggest for me if I use my tv as a computer monitor as well as watching network shows and gaming. How do you like it so far?! I'm in the market to buy a TV and have decided between this QNED85 LG or the LG C1. I don't know which one! Can't decide lol I love the colors of the OLEDs but also love the brightness of this mini LED. Any thoughts?
@@wombat5252 I'm in a similar boat. I originally was going for the new TCL r655 but thus far the jury is still out on it. Then I was looking at the Hisense U8H. But the size I want has been out of stock for weeks. Now I've shifted to LG OLED C2 or this unit LG QNED85. I really love the brightness of Mini LED tech. But I also love what OLED tech can dish out. But I'm very worried about OLED longevity. I'm very torn.
@@mikel6832 I legit just ordered the LG QNED85 65" but I need to wait a little bit before it arrives at the store. Got it on sale for $1299. I REALLY love the OLED and their colors but I ultimately decided and went for the QNED because I'm worried about burn in mostly and longevity. I like to game and watch stations that have static imagery so I'm trying this QNED. I will know soon! if you can get the OLED C2 do it. I had a budget and that wasn't in it. If you have the ultimate budget...Sony A95k OMG it's INSANE but so much money. It feels like torture trying to decide what TV to spend your money on. LOL
@@wombat5252 Ah I feel you! I game. I watch a lot of Sports, Movies and Shows. For the past 3 days I've been going back and forth comparing the spec sheet differences between the QNED85 and OLED C2. I guess I'm trying to get a handle on justifying paying basically $400 dollars more for the C2. I think to myself, is it really worth paying that much more. Ugh. Torn.
@@mikel6832 It's so difficult. I don't know why but it really is because you think of how much you're spending and how much you expect the quality to be. Me personally? It was only an OLED or mini LED that I was going to get. You really can't go wrong with either one and you'll like both but yeah it's a struggle. I would honestly go for the C2 but I also like the brightness of the mini LED. I can check back in after a week if I remember to tell you...you may have to comment back to remind me if you want. Lol
Is it free of flicker for most of LG QNED line up or only some of it depends on model numbers because I am fully aware that most TV are not flicker free, only very few tv does. OLED is not flicker free unfortunately though due to brightness dip.
Awesome Insight Sir, And Thank Goodness I Watched Your Video On This TV. I Had A TCL R646 Delivered And All the TVS Fell Over ain the Truck Long Story Short, Out If Stock So They Are Replacing It With This One. Black Friday Everything Is Going And Not One "Reviewer" Had Much Of Anything, Not Many Reviews On It Anyways Looking Forward To Your Setting Video On This Model Even If I Had To Join For Them Like Some ( And I Will Be Joining) Thanks Again
i've been looking at the hisense 75u7g, which unlike the 65" model is an ads or ips panel as well. do you think it would perform similarly to this tv where the local dimming will fix the low native contrast? it only has 72 zones in the 75" apparently if that matters. rtings only reviewed the 65" va panel version, and noone else on the web has done a detailed review with numbers for contrast etc of the 75" version either that i can find.
Is this tv better for some side viewing as I have a Sony x90k and side viewing really takes away the color and brightness. I have a week to return and wanted your advice. It’s a 65inch display also. Thanks
how you think this TV compare to the qn85b for gaming? I saw the Samsung one has a lower input lag, but I don't know if the motion is worse or does it suffer from ghosting, smearing and etc
Hi Classy! How is the motion/pixel response in gaming compared to oled? Is there a large difference? Eyeballing the 2022 qned91 lineup, planning on playin Diablo 4 a lot with the static hud on the bottom+minimap. Thanks!
Great video! Now we just need to get certain subreddits to change their recommendations when a few reviews come out. I was looking for a 75" screen that was bright, had acceptable blooming, wasn't a Samsung, and had good gaming features. It seemed like the X95K was my only option but this may be more suitable. Looking for prices to drop and will pick up. The challenge is I'm in Toronto so the secondary market is flooded with inexpensive LG OLEDs and Sony LEDs so I may find a cheap (as In 1/2 of the current price) X95K before I see dramatically discounted versions of this panel.
If you can wait, I would get the LG QNED90 when it releases. Otherwise.. Last year, 2 months after the QNEDs' released, they went on sale, big time! Huge Discount! Like, 75" became same exact price as 65"! FOMO told me that all LG LCD Tv's go on sale, that big, 2 months after release. So just wait, buddy! 👍
My 65QNED85 is very good with DSE. I didn't notice any with the aerial shots in Dunkirk. I did notice some in an early scene in Blade Runner 2049. Also, the 100% full field white had great uniformity for a LCD. Classy mentioned in his live stream that his TV had minimal DSE.
Wow. Where did this TV come from??! Poof! Out of nowhere. Always baffled me that LG makes the go-to gaming TV in OLED form, but is severely lacking in the LED department. And yes, I’m one of those people you mentioned who is put off by the price, ABL, and near-black chrominance overshoot of OLEDs. I’ve been trying to escape the Bravia X900H curse since 2020, but it’s sapped away all my confidence for my next dark-room gaming TV purchase that checks all the boxes for next-Gen consoles. If I can get past the stigma of IPS panels I may give the new LG mini-LED sets a chance. Still waiting to see the Hisense U8H and the upcoming TCL stuff. I must admit, having my TV in a dimly lit room is bothering me with all these companies constantly emphasizing TV brightness. I’m very sensitive to blooming. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to more. Cheers!
Seems like the less dimming zones there are in a tv then the better the blooming is when that particular technology was designed to actually be better for blooming. Cause every mini led tv with hundreds of dimming zones when compared to lower budget tvs woth less dimming zones no matter what brand it may be set like blooming is better when there's again less dimming zones
Classy said the QNED85 is basically the QNED90 Mini-Led from last year, because the QNED90 this year will be much improved and upgraded from last year. The Nano 90 is not a mini-led.

Awesome Video! I can't understand why LG can't make the Colors right on this TV. Thank you for making a separate Setting Video. When can we expect it?
Great video
I wanted to ask if you had to choose between the LG qned85 86inch or the Samsung QN90BD 85 inch what would you choose?
Im in the same boat Im torn between fhem two. Did you managed to resolve this?
Either i settled for a smaller 65” C2 or a 75” Qned85. 75” was cheaper after sales so it was somewhat a no brainer for me
Wish I would have seen this video before I bought the qn85b.
I was going to buy the 75" for 2k but found the 86" for $2100 at HSN after an extra $20 of my first purchase. Just wondering if the settings video is out yet. Thanks for helping me decide to go with this TV
Just ordered mine! Looking forward to the setup vid, Classy!
how do you like it?
Thanks Classy for the video. Is there any way to tell if the blooming on a qned85 is "part of the tv/reasonable" vs blooming/light leakage that is abnormal? I got one of these in the 55 inch size for my step son (didnt want to get him an OLED; he plays roblox,, fortnite a lot) and noticed a bit of light leakage at the upper right corner.
You were going to do a settings video is that still happening?
I'm very impressed with this tv. Do you think its worth waiting for the qned90 v2022 to come out or just buy the qned85? Thank you for the wonderful content.
Any comment about the Qned85/86 of 2023? Does it worth to buy it?
The 90 has been cancelled and won't get a future update. The 83 is supposed to be the 2021 90 renamed to clear them out.
This seems incorrect, because "83" is a lower number than "85." Best Buy then sells the "83" for the price of $1,499 and claims it is "$1,000 Off," while the "85" is sold for "$1,799" and Best Buy claims it is "$200 Off."
This seems like an even worse scam than what Best Buy does with their LG monitors.
You said that you would pick the LG C2 over the QNED85; but, What about the LG QNED85 vs the LG OLED C1 ?
Wow, this seems like a fantastic tv for those who don't want OLED. Just wondering if it's better or similar to the QNED90 2021 model since that QNED90 is discounted heavily right now.
Like to know this too
I'm not seeing QNED90 anywhere
From what I've read, QNED90/91 has quite more dimming zones, however QNED85/86 has better local dimming algorithm and better calibration.
I don’t get why you wouldn’t want oled…
@@damonm3 oled screen burn and lower brightness may be issues that some people don't want to deal with.
So it has about the same number of dimming zones as a non-mini LED full array TV, got it.
im stuck between this tv and a Sony x90k at the moment, play a lot of ps5 as well as stream content off an Apple TV 4K. Is this TV the better choice for all around picture quality ?
Which 65" would you buy? Samsung QN90A or LG QNED85.
I wish they'd come up with a qned 95 alpha 9 that would be so interesting excellent review

Classy did you do your picture settings/colour correction video for this tv? I can’t find it in your video section bud. I’m just wanting to dial in my red a bit bud. I hope you can help me out bro 🎉
From what I've read, light bleed on the edges is the biggest complaints about the QNED85. Evidently the QNED90 fixes that with total local dimming
QNED90 is older and has more local dimming zones, but an older local dimmig algorithm.
Amazing content. Great presentation . Cant wait for the new qned 90.

How do you find your QNed85's gradation, any color banding? How about motion/judder? Im disappointed by Sony X85J's color banding Im looking for a replacement within the similar price range but with no/less banding. Would you recommend this? Any other? Thx!

What LED tv would you suggest for me if I use my tv as a computer monitor as well as watching network shows and gaming. I am so confused after watching a month's worth of videos from you, fomo, the installer, and many more. The tv is situated in my living room with 3 windows, thanks for any help you can offer.
Hey Classy, Thanks for another great review! I have the 75" QNED85 arriving tomorrow and would love to watch your settings vid on it! Truly appreciate all your time, dedication & hardwork. -Your Anxiously Awaiting Fan
Lol
Where is your recommended settings video? I would love to see your recommendations!
Is there a settings video? All I could find is one for the QNED90 last year mode. Will those work?
Hey CLASSY would many people be satisfied with this TV or should they look at something else?
IMO, the only better mini-led or lcd options this year will be the LG QNED90 or QNED99 8K mini led tv's!
Is it free of flicker for most of LG QNED line up or only some of it depends on model numbers because I am fully aware that most TV are not flicker free, only very few tv does. OLED is not flicker free unfortunately though due to brightness dip.

i've been looking at the hisense 75u7g, which unlike the 65" model is an ads or ips panel as well. do you think it would perform similarly to this tv where the local dimming will fix the low native contrast? it only has 72 zones in the 75" apparently if that matters. rtings only reviewed the 65" va panel version, and noone else on the web has done a detailed review with numbers for contrast etc of the 75" version either that i can find.
Is this tv better for some side viewing as I have a Sony x90k and side viewing really takes away the color and brightness. I have a week to return and wanted your advice. It’s a 65inch display also. Thanks
how is the unformity on this tv is there much dse
how you think this TV compare to the qn85b for gaming? I saw the Samsung one has a lower input lag, but I don't know if the motion is worse or does it suffer from ghosting, smearing and etc
hi would a 85inch version too big for a room? i'm currently using a 55inch older lg tv. viewing from 9ft away. thanks.
So I should wait for the QNED90?
Hi Classy! How is the motion/pixel response in gaming compared to oled? Is there a large difference? Eyeballing the 2022 qned91 lineup, planning on playin Diablo 4 a lot with the static hud on the bottom+minimap. Thanks!

Classy would you know what picture setting would adjust grainy while watching cable tv? And did you ever make the settings video for this review?
How many dimming zones on the 75" version?

What’s the difference of the LG QNED 85 AQA Vs LG QNED 85 UQA Models?
It's surprisingly good.
I am very sensitive to DSE. How is it on this set?
Cheers!
Hey there! If you had to get a 75" QNED85 for $950 or 75" X95K for $1600, which would you pick???
Probably the QNED85 for the value.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations just got the QNED85. Absolutely love it! The black levels are actually quite impressive!
Does this tv have only one position for feet placement?
Seems like the less dimming zones there are in a tv then the better the blooming is when that particular technology was designed to actually be better for blooming. Cause every mini led tv with hundreds of dimming zones when compared to lower budget tvs woth less dimming zones no matter what brand it may be set like blooming is better when there's again less dimming zones
Is this the successor to the Nano 90 from last year?
Classy said the QNED85 is basically the QNED90 Mini-Led from last year, because the QNED90 this year will be much improved and upgraded from last year. The Nano 90 is not a mini-led.
