This video shows the journey from the first idea of an Ibanez bass with a fretboard to the final result. The song that I play is called "Our Soul Sets Sail" from my solo record 'Tulpa'.

Hopefully you make the cut for the next signature artist. That bass definitely deserves to see a production model.
Tell Ibanez 😜
THIS
I normally don't really like the BTB models a lot visually but that thing is GORGEOUS!
Incredible. I'd buy 1 in a heartbeat
Cool, bin gespannt auf das Teil!
Amazing stuff! Best of both
CONGRATULATIONS ... YOU ARE AMAZING BASSIST
Beautiful bass! congratulations and enjoy it!
Vigier made the surfcaster years ago - 1992 or so - ....Le Fay make a fretless base with a metal fretboard......but I think you've got the first Ibanez Fretless bass with a steel fretboard which is pretty big on it's own - and it sounds great.
Congrats!
It's cool, it's like a combo of fretless and fretted sound. I guess with frets the string is directly on the steel as your finger is behind it, but in this case the bottom of the string is on steel and the top is slightly muted by your flesh.
It's really the combination of both worlds. I love that.
Amazing!
very cool idea on a bass, sounds awesome!
Glad you like it!
Awesome! Do you think we could get an isolated sound sample? I'd love to hear how it sounds on its own, and all the sounds it can make!
Beautiful bass, would love to see it go into production.
Tell Ibanez 😜
If and when available I will buy it in a heartbeat
Astounding bass, would like to hear pure sound of it tho without any backing tracks
I will work something out...
EHB would be ideal for that. ;)
I agree :)
wow it’s great when you can work together with a big company to produce a unique instrument.
Indeed. I am really glad that Ibanez as a huge company supports experiments like this.
Nice bass
Thanks!
Lefay did first!
Very true. I hope more companies make steel fingerboards though. They all sound a different and have different specs.
Congratulations, Linus! Well deserved! 🎉
Sounds like a REAL fretless bass.
What a great idea! A fretless bass with only frets makes just sense
A fretful bass, if you will
Interesting. This is only the second fretless with a steel fingerboard after LeFay's that I have ever seen. And from what they sound like, stainless steel really seems to be the material to go for: it has got the right hardness _and_ elasticity for the right frequency of overtones: plenty of them, but not too brittle and shrill. Not to mention the _huge_ plus in durability and style. The only problem seems to be the glue between two fundamentally different materials to hold properly.
But sorry to say: for a video about music equipment, the mic placement is really bad, and so is the volume balance between speech and music.
I understand what you mean. I recorded the spoken parts myself. I had to use the camera audio because the Mic made problems. As a musician where summer is always busy as hell I simply didn't have the time to record all over again. I can't be an expert on everything, haha. Sorry that the sound bothered you.
This is what the lucier wrote about the glue by the way:
"It is 1mm thick aircraft grade (means quality, but also stupidly expensive) stainless steel bent to match the original radius of the fretboard (now fingerboard). Fixed in place with the stickiest goo I know: polyurethane"
This is so cool. I'm looking to do something like this with a 37" multiscale fretless 6 string. Trying to think of ways to modify the BTB806MS. Probably the cheapest route.
🔥
Congratulations, Linus. It lloks so amazing. 🎉
Klang auch wirklich toll beim BA!! Also der Bass und ihr alle❤
you feel is more dificult use this bass because the weight of the neck ?
It's different but I don't think about it while playing. It's not a problem.
Would this fretboard damage the bass due to bending?
Yes, slightly
@@LinusKlausenitzerBass That's gonna be expensive to repair, isn't it?
