- On this segment of The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation, Alie Ward meets with Jim Gordon, the CEO of SmartFlower -- a company that is re-imagining solar panel design.
SmartFlower was inspired by the way sunflowers open when the sun comes up and follow the sun throughout the day. SmartFlower Solar System acts in the same way by tracking the position of the sun to get the most optimal amount of power at every point of the day. It can be used for commercial or residential use, and it can even charge an electric vehicle.
Among SmartFlower's other abilities, it can measure wind speed and automatically close if it gets too windy. It also contains built-in brushes that sweep the panels clean of debris each time it opens and closes.

Need in india 💝...in rajasthan...there is lot of sun every time in year but prblm is...dust and wind....like old system people just doing formalities in installation...this panel get off from roof when stroms of dust come...I hope it help humanity :-)

These will take longer to recoup the cost, you're looking at close to 30 grand, US. Still, a very cool system, and also visually interesting as opposed to solar panels on a roof or a rectangular array.

I think this makes more sense than putting panels on your roof compromising the integrity of your roof & at so much more expense. Makes alot more sense to me that the panel FOLLOWS the sun than simply get what you can as the sun moves over your home. To each his own.
