Snnuy didn't mention that the main reason these champs are mid is also because the other cards added in this expansion *kof siren song kof* were beyond broken and played in a totally different archetype than the champ for the most part
Champs are mid even now, after siren song nerf and main reason is because decks with Poro/Neeko are strongly oriented on the state of the board, without any interaction on enemy units or protecting own ones and Nidalee became "filler". They are good for nonranked games, because decks are fun until they are not facing meta decks.
12:00 that's actually pretty funny that he compares Poro King with Ornn being both bad for the same reason... While Ornn Jax is currently one of the two tier 1 deck both in ladder and in tournament
@@joe-nb4du they got up and still weren't played for a while, it's mostly the nerfs and a few new cards that affected its winrate. Almost everything but them received huge nerfs so not surprising that they're the one that remains (Trist , Samira, Gwen, Seraphine, Varus decks aswell as Ionia as a whole) .
I have a weird relationship with LoR where I come back to it every few months, find a deck I love, play a ton with it, then take a break again because I don't really enjoy grinding ladder once I reach Masters. These videos are always the catalyst for me getting back into it and are always a fun watch; thanks for making them.
1:15 from some who played WoW I just wanna point out that this feeling also exists in hearthstone, seeing new art in high quality from warcraft characters is very cool But I do agree that runeterra goes a bit more wild with their champions
In case you were curious: The Morph mechanic in Magic (which Snnuy mentioned regarding Ambush) allows minions (and sometimes other things) with Morph costs to be played face-down as a 3 mana 2/2 creature with no abilities, sort of like playing a face-down creature in Yugioh. The minion's controller can then pay the Morph cost at any time to flip the minion face-up, wherein its properties change to whatever is on the front face of the card, even if that minion was mid-combat. Morph cards are relatively uncommon, and I don't know of any high-tier decks that used the mechanic, but it's a lot of fun. Your remark about having to put in extra work to make the card good is spot-on. The Runeterra mechanic is actually quite close! Paper TCGs often represent cards with multiple forms by using the back face of the card, which isn't necessary here due to digital mechanics, but Snnuy's description of "you can play it as a 2/2 or as the creature" is equally true of cards with Morph. I don't play Runeterra, but it seems that you can't "flip" Ambush cards at "instant speed" i.e. on the opponent's turn, which limits some potential to set up fun traps you can spring in Magic with cards like Broodhatch Nantuko.
Great description of Morph, just wanted to mention that you can flip runeterra ambush cards at instant speed (such as the opponents turn or during combat), so all the classic Magic morph tactics work there as well
Plenty of high-tier decks used the mechanic, maybe not as a central piece, but there have always been a couple morph cards good enough to see widespread play such as Willbender.
The real champion of this expansion was Siren Song. Luckily this card is nerfed already but jeez there were like 10 different decks that all do the same thing: play siren song, play 1-drops, buff them to insane state and just smack with huge overwhelm units. The champions are fun and all but siren song was too broken so there were simply no room for them
I'm sad Runeterra isn't more popular, it has much better UI than Hearthstone, the art is better, champ animations are great, spell mana is good mechanic.. I still play some Hearthstone, but Runeterra just feels like the better game.
12:09 Are you sure she's Neeko? Afaik it might be The thilit protector... Btw, that's how they presented us Neeko, as "You though I was twilit protector as new champion, BUT IT WAS ME, NEEKO!"... I LOVE that side of LoR.
If we got some alt channel runeterra from you just playin around in new expansions I think thatd be really cool. (I also usually just come back and play a little when they add new cards then take a break til next update)
Day 0: I was playing a Freebuild Neeko deck without Neeko in it, and only got 1 win in friendly matches. Day 1: I swapped a 2 mana dog or something for Neeko, and played the same deck in Ranked. I got from Iron to Diamond with Neeko.
Not sure if she needs support , she's way above average, the only thing keeping Neeko fair is the lack of overpowered units with subtypes, as you preferably want all your cards to have a subtype in Neeko decks.
@@mawillix2018 I mostly mean cards that you would find in a menagerie deck, like cards that affect each subtype in play, just to give it a bit more incentive to play.
@@MinuHex Yes, Neeko/Freljord (the main menagerie style deck for her) deserves a buff, maybe even a second champ that supports the menagerie playstyle. I hope that if they print another follower with Menagerie support in Freljord it's subtype is one of these: Yordle / Yeti / Weaponmaster / Poro / Elite / Lurker /Cultist / Darkin / Tech / [New Subtype] Such that they won't be added to Neeko's region. I don't want them to incidentally buff the fast level up strategy with Neeko in PnZ or Bandle City.
I would perhaps once again like to note that Norra isn't good because she highrolls her portals, that's still not consistent, last time she got nerfed, she was merely good with midrange, this time, she's good in a zoo-type burn-type deck.
I'm new here, currently watching the series. These vids are fun but is there context for why Rarran doesn't play Runeterra himself much? He says he plays League and he likes card games so you'd think it was a natural fit, but I haven't played Runeterra in a couple years so I'm wondering what kept him from getting into it.
I'm guessing he needs to stay loyal to his main game to retain the audience. It is my understanding that Hearthstone has pretty decent viewer numbers. Switching to a different game would have him start over and compete with established streamers of that game.
review of ambush: that sounds insane if you can get an extra spell mana, you can play her on 2 because the ambush is a spell. though even without that, if you skip on 1 play a 2, you get her out on 3, or you play her as a 2/2 and transform her next turn, it's pretty good. not sure if there's a give 2 spell mana 1 cost thing though.
A few games ago I did this with Nidalee: Turn 1 pass Turn 2 2/2 (Nidalee) Turn 3 Ambush, Dunekeeper, Dunekeeper. So it's possible to have a leveled Nidalee on turn 3.
Wait, since when is Nidalee from Shurima? She's from Ixtal together with Neeko, Milio, Qiyana, Rengar and many others. Has it been mentioned in a story that she went to Shurima?
What's your deck? I'm currently running Neeko Teemo and climbed from Iron to Diamond with it, But this was something I threw together to play a friendly match. I might need a real deck now.

No neeko deck? I literally ran into 3 different players using neeko/gnar in a row. It's a popular and powerful deck.
Azir Neeko is the only Neeko deck I can find that definitely has a positive winrate so far (low data) Teemo Neeko seems the best otherwise.
One of the thing i keep noticing with players from other card games is that they overvalue stats and undervalue removal.
Runeterra has big stats and bad removal compared to other games, so when you compare them, it's understandable.
