There is only a 13A marriage visa or SRRV retirement visa for permanent residency. Yes, it's best to bring proof (old PH passport or PSA birth certificate). Some Immigration officers and/ or airline staff ask for it, some don't. If you don't have it & the airline staff ask for it, you may have to buy a return/ exit ticket (has happened to some ppl).
I was a Filipino citizen and left the country in 1982 for USA. I have never been back to PI since then. In 1988, I became Naturalized US citizen. Now I am considering of retiring back to PI. However, on health insurance if my application for dual is still in process, If I needed to go to ER, I am guessing that I am responsible for my bills.
Philhealth would cover mostly your bills, if you are considered as Filipino citizen. Meaning you have to be dual and registered to your local barangay as a Filipino citizen. It only applies on senior citizens.

No visa is needed for US citizens staying for 30 days. The Bureau of Immigration will decide if the passenger is entitled to 1 year stay visa-free in PH depending on what documents the passenger brings when arriving in PH.

You might have a valid I-card already, but if you use the Eservices on line for visa extension, they will charge you for another I-card. Its just a flaw with their website. You can also apply for a 6 month Visa extension, but if you only get approved for a two month they keep the difference in money. They tell you on website no refunds. Your USA GREEN CARD will be automatically revoked, green card holder allowed only to stay out of the United States for only 6 months, if you exceed beyond that ,period of time given , the green card given to you is no longer valid, if let’s say to travel back to US you will be held by the immigration.in your port of entry and facing too many problems. Benefits: you will be a permanent resident. You don't need to have an exut/ return ticket if you re-enter PH from a trip abroad. You also won't need to pay for visa extemsion fees every 2 or 6 months (but you have to report yearly to Immigration, around January). AFAIK you can also work or own a business with the 13A visa. Disadvantage: you can't criticize the PH govt publicly (the BI can revoke your visa). If you (as couple) decide to live/ reside abroad, you'll have to request BI to revoke your 13A since if you're not able to renew it (due to not being in PH), the fines will add up. You still can't own land but you can own a condo unit.

Do I have to show proof of previous Filipino citizenship to avail of balikbayan benefits to stay for a year?
Yes, it's best to bring proof (old PH passport or PSA birth certificate). Some Immigration officers and/ or airline staff ask for it, some don't. If you don't have it & the airline staff ask for it, you may have to buy a return/ exit ticket (has happened to some ppl).
I was a Filipino citizen and left the country in 1982 for USA. I have never been back to PI since then. In 1988, I became Naturalized US citizen. Now I am considering of retiring back to PI. I wanted to be able to stay for good but also visit back in US if I need to, because my only child and 4 grandkids are staying in US. I am considering of buying a small property in the PI. I heard that the only way it's possible is to have a dual citizenship. I will definitely comply with the law. However, on health insurance if my application for dual is still in process, If I needed to go to ER, I am guessing that I am responsible for my bills.
Where do I go to apply for Dual Citizenship? Immigration in the Philippines or in the Philippine Embassy?

Philhealth would cover mostly your bills, if you are considered as Filipino citizen. Meaning you have to be dual and registered to your local barangay as a Filipino citizen. It only applies on senior citizens.
My family migrated to the US when my children were aged 5 & 2 years old. Upon US naturalization our kids were automatically US citizens too since they were minors when
we migrated. My son wants to retire in the Philippines and does he have to apply for Dual Citizenship being a natural born Filipino and now a US citizen? Thank you for your help.
I’m a US Citizen and I stay there for more than 30 days and and so far I didn’t pay extra days or didn’t apply for extended , I was there for 42 days exactly. So I guess it’s depends and I guess just lucky that I stay there for 42 days without any problem .

If you have stayed too long outside US say 2years will there be any problem I might encounter at US immigration? Thank in advance for the reply 😊
@@heidelberg232001 You need to apply for a US Re Entry Permit if you are staying outside the US for more than 1 year. Apply before you leave. Otherwise, you have deemed to abandon your permanent residency.
You still have a Philippine passport so you can stay in the Philippines indefinitely, however, you will have a problem coming back to the US if your stay is beyond one year.

If they travel with you and you/ they bring their birth certificates (to show kinship to you) they can stay in PH for 1 year on balikbayan privilege. You (as former PH citizen) must bring proof of being former Filipino such as old PH passport or PSA birth cert.
my husband doesnt believe to me I have Oath Taking as dual City to stay 1 year and we are but reture
How true that we former filipino citizen and now US citizen needs a visa if staying more than 30 days before entering Philippines? I saw a complain and this just happend yesterday not letting fly by Cathay Airlines because she is a US citizen and not possesing a visa so she ended up rebooking her ticket for 30 days stay only. Please enlighten me?
No visa is needed for US citizens staying for 30 days. The Bureau of Immigration will decide if the passenger is entitled to 1 year stay visa-free in PH depending on what documents the passenger brings when arriving in PH.
I’m a dual citizen & when I applied the Dual Citizen I included my daughter (a minor at that time). My question is how my daughter now an adult prove that she’s a dual citizen also? The Philippine Consulate in San Francisco only sent me a Dual Citizen certificate only under my name. How is she going to prove it?
Did you call them?
Usually, your minor child when you applied for dual citizenship is mentioned in your dual citizenship papers they issued to you.
You might have a valid I-card already, but if you use the Eservices on line for visa extension, they will charge you for another I-card. Its just a flaw with their website. You can also apply for a 6 month Visa extension, but if you only get approved for a two month they keep the difference in money. They tell you on website no refunds. Another screwup that nobody in immigration checks.
US Citizen borned and raised in the Philippines can get a visa of up to one year....

Bring proof of being former Filipino such as old PH passport or PSA birth cert so that you'll get 1 year balikbayan privilege.
Idk about Canadian but we US citizens allowed to stay 59 days in Philippines
But if we live more than 2 months we have to use our balik bayan privilege and yes we do need old passport or PSA documents to proof that we born there.
You can bring old PH passport or PSA birth certificate.
i want to travel to phillipines and stay there for a longer time but the deposit requirement is what i need to figure out, specially the retiree visa!
Hi question po! Maximum stay within 30 days in 1 year? or every time i come to the Philippines like every 3 or 4 months I am only allowed to stay no more than 30 days? How does a balikbayan visa look like? is a stamp enough for Balik Bayan visa? Hope to hear from you po!
Great information. How about active US military officers? How long can they stay in the Philippines?
It will be 30 days.
I'm a US green card holder due to some circumstances I stayed in the Philippines for more than 4 years. How can I go back to US. What are the requirements for me do to go back to US. Thanks
You'll have to apply for re-entry permit. Call the US embassy in Manila.
U should apply for re entry when u went back to Philippines, coz if ur greencard holder u can’t live outside US for more than a year coz it’s kinda u abandoning ur greencard. Just saying u can Google it or look up in USCIS page
I’m guessing you know this but why did you stay too long in the Philippines 🇵🇭. Hindi muna mababawe Ang green card mo at dyan palang SA port of entry mo kukuhanin nila Ang green card mo . Possible deportation KA pabalik SA pinas .
Puwede rin po kayo mag research about sa Canada naman? Tenk u in advance.
Same rules for Canadian citizens. 30 days visa on arrival. If former Filipino citizen, then can avail of 1 year balikbayan privilege, but must bring proof of being former citizen such as old PH passport or PSA/NSO birth certificate.
30 days lang pala visa free sa Pinas, buti pa sa Thailand foreign people have 3 months of visa free upon arrival to Thailand.
I'm a US citizen, and returning for good, do I need a returning date on my ticket? I will apply for dual citizenship as soon as I get to the Philippines .
Are you a former Filipino?
@jocelyn - no need return ticket if you can bring your old PH passport or PSA birth cert (proof of being former PH citizen). Ask for balikbayan privilege (1 year) upon arrival in PH.

I and my fiancé will stay 32 days in the Philippines and we need to go back to US for work. Is it possible the immigration can stamp his passport for just only 32 days .
Does he still need to apply for visa in the airport upon arrival at the immigration Philippines airport?
I am getting a resident visa, wife is Filipina, what benefits can I receive from this visa, what is the down side of this visa
