Hi Vincent, Like many here, I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, and thank you for all the very interesting videos you have made - particularly the last couple of years. All the best
I’m very happy that you’re doing projector reviews as well because its very difficult to find honest reviews on line! I’m from canada and I’m thinking of upgrading my sony 40 es to either 295es , 695 es or jvc dla nx7 , ! Right now I’m down scaling 4k Blu rays on 1080p and it looks fantastic. So i would really like to know the benefits that i will get from a new projector that i mentioned earlier, i know that the 270es is at a different price point than the other 2 projectors , so perhaps you can explain to me the value i will get from the projectors, also i know that your specialty is calibrating , there’s a company in canada thats selling all these projectors on line and they offer a calibration service that they do and then they ship it to you, i was under the impression that this has to be done at my home. Well i hope you can answer these questions , thank you in advance
Yes ! Great to see you doing projectors reviews. I wish you could do some testing of ALR projection screen as well. Many brand on the market. Not much experts reviews though. That could be a good idea. 💡 Than you.
Hi Vincent. I currently have Sony vpl-vw520 and I’m thinking to upgrade to Sony vpl-vw570 ( preferred) or alternatively to JVC dla-nx7. Is it worth of effort? Or should I stay with 520? Thank you for your great review. Regards Joe
Can you swap the lamp from the higher end projector into the lower end projector to see if it increases lumens from 1500 to 1800? For $400, that seems like a great upgrade... if it works.
I have the Sony VPL-VW385ES. This model is in between the one you reviewed here, and the base model 285ES. The model I have puts out 300 less lumens and only has 200,000:1 dynamic contrast . I have it in a dedicated theater space as well, where I can control the light. This is my first projector and I'm not really sure I'm happy with the picture. Colors don't seem to pop like I thought they would and when I brighten things up or mess with the contrast, the blacks look grey-ish, etc. It's the same for broadcast TV content, streaming 4K/Dolby Vision or 4K/HDR blu rays. I've tried adjusting all the settings the various ways I can, but still not happy. Maybe I'm expecting too much, or I need to spring for the 885/895? My 65" OLED TV looks better. Anyways, if you have a list of settings for this projector, I'd be happy to pay you for it.
Hi Vincent can u compare this Sony projector with new line jvc native 4k N5/N7 and what's the native contrast ratio of the vpl vw 385/and sony vpl vw 695es at the end thanks for the review 👍🏻
What is the difference between the 550es and the 570es? I have gone through the specs and they are literally identical in every way yet I'm able to find the 550es for £5k and the 570es only for £8k. Am I missing something!?
If I were to come up with reasons it would be these below: The first reason is to do with stopping the import market, e.g. they won't support warranty and might not even do any repairs if you didn't buy the set from the same country, as each countries have different restrictions like tax, standards, minimum warranty length which causes the price to be different in each country/continent and also any specific tests need to be done on them to be sold legally by most stores. The second reason is there are stores which like to say they price match which means if the model number isn't exactly the same they won't need to price match, also these stores who do price match probably don't import the cheaper models from abroad. The third reason is that different cultures are against different numbers such as 4, 13, 666, etc so each country might want to avoid a number. The fourth reason is that there might be a similar product with the same product name in one country but not the other so sometimes companies need to index the products differently to avoid being hidden below other products when a person decides to Google it, which helps often helps SEO and a person just getting frustrated with so many products named Sony Projector and not finding the right review/store/comparison/etc as the model number is too vague (looking at you Apple). The fifth is just some guy thinking it's obviously a smart idea to name it so confusingly so when a person walks into a store looking for a TV instead of saying Sony XF9012345678, they just say Sony TV as the specific model might not be in stock so selling any stock is still a good thing whether it be newer models or the older models.
Wolf are rebadged and recased JVCs - not sure if that's all they are or if there are any real internal changes, but I think that unless you can get a Wolf professionally reviewed. tested and measured, I'd go with the JVC as you'll not be paying more for a new case and badge, and just the JVC performance.
Just ask for the professional calibrator's standard haircut with full coverage of Rec.2020 for a better HDR experience when your hair will shine in the Sun and blind people with their 10000 nits shine.😎
Can someone please explain to me the pixel situation on projectors? I'm confused if the pixels on a tv are those tiny lighted dots, where are they on the projector?
You have three panels - red, green and blue. They all have full 4K res and are merged into one image by the optical block, so overlay onto each other to produce full colour.
It’s the shame that Sony is not able to provide a real smooth gradation at this price point. All the BS with having to give more space to the HDMI board for cooling the frame interpolation chip at 4K and the true 18GBps bandwidth. They really think they own the market like NVIDIA and Intel do. Well the wake up call will be like a kick in the 🥜 just like with Intel. The Iris can’t compete with the blacks from JVC anyway. JVC will have a better optic which is far more important than all the gimmicks / processing... I’m a Sony 4K projector owner and I will switch to JVC as soon as the N5/N7comes out.
@@dirk5044 Everything that nice is expensive my nice new car a fancy watch a round the world trip,if you cant afford that then your not buying this, but there are many people who buy high end stuff like 10k projecter,my point is this video not for the ones who cant afford it but the ones who can,,,
@@MARK111126 No your comment stated that 8k is not a lot of money. That has nothing to do with this video being for people who can or can't afford it. If you'd get out of your bubble, you'll realize that the median income in the US is around $55k. And that's for a family of 4, and that represents MOST people. I can spend $8k on a projector as well, but lets not be naive to the fact that $8k is a lot of money for MOST people. And truth be told, a SMART buyer would wait and spend $2k less for the JVC NX5 which may be a better 4k projector.
So glad you’re doing projector reviews, fantastic info as always.
I love how he projects his opinions onto UA-cam!

I got a good deal on the VPL-VW570ES should I go for it or spend much more for the VPL-VW590ES, please?
Great to see more projector reviews! Very useful.

Sounds like you need a professional calibration. Considering the price of the projector, it's money well spent IMHO.
Can you compare short throw laser projectors to long throw laser in terms of picture quality?
Please review the NX7, I’m just waiting on you to make my purchase, I’m btw the NX7 or 695 and maybe the Sony 995es
No luck yet to review JVC n5 or n7?? thx
I would love to see more projector comparisons like this, Vincenzo

Nice review i'm waiting for a full review an comparison of the 760es and the 870es.. =)
Do I really need an anamorphic lens to have a 2.35:1 using the VW695ES ?
Did you miss the autocalibration feature of the 570es?
Good review! And great job, Sony!
Why do Sony go to the bother of differing names for the same machine? Seems like a lot of bother and expense for zero return and increased confusion.

Really wish I could afford the 695ES to replace my aging 40ES. Really really wish lol
You never know! Hope!...cheers!

Vincent. Are you getting bigger or are your glasses getting smaller?
P.s. Can you send me a nice 75in 4k TV once you've finished reviewing it.
Cheers
I am going to the barber next week and I would like to get Vincent's haircut. What should I tell the barber?

I kinda like vincents haircut. Its cool
Just got the 695es usa... can you share the best calibrated number. So i can try to get the best out of it?
you are rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, can you test BENQ LK990 - 4K HDR LASER PROJECTOR :-)
Can a projector have dead pixels?
What TV up to 700€ would you recommend? I thought about the Samsung nu8000 but your review wasn't so positive

Gary L is it possible to have dead pixels on projectors?

thanks for sharing!
Sony, wake me up when your price points for 880ES drops
How about comparing it side-by-side to a $200 Vankyo V600 / M18 1080p projector?
For this money I would expect perfection...

Thanks, but I refuse to buy a product with less than 36 characters in its name (Sony VPL-VW570ES). 12 just doesn't cut it.
You forgot to say that the 570 can autocalibrate
Auto calibration does not work I have had a Sony for some years and it’s not a great idea to use the auto calibration
is it Sony or VW? ;)))
i'm getting one when I win a lottery..
The top looks like a ps3
