Helena Modrzejewska - Women Hall of Fame

Born October 12, 1840 in Kraków , Helena Modrzejewska was a celebrated Polish actress, a living legend in her time and a star both in Poland and America. She was the kind of actress who is hard to find even on the stages of great capital cities, an artist who, through work and enlightened management, joined the first ranks of her profession.
She had what all artists’ need: a beautiful appearance, figure and voice, and most importantly, the ability instinctively to feel what a role needs. Ms. Modrzejewska died April 8, 1909, in Newport Beach, California.
