    A wonderful article.
This great man is eternally recognised in my country of Australia where our highest mountain is named for him. The naming was done by his fellow countryman Pawel Strzelecki, an explorer who also has a famous Aussie landmark dedicated in his name, the Strzelecki Track.

My home city of Jacksonville, FL does not have one thing named after him. Recently there was a controversy over renaming Hemming Plaza with its statue of The Confederate Soldier. How sad that we did not take the opportunity of naming it Kosciuszko Square, with a statue of him, in honor of the man who wanted to free slaves.

We have a bridge named in Kosciuszko's honor, near where I live, in Saratoga County, in upstate New York. It's the I-87 twin bridges over the Mohawk River, connecting Albany and Saratoga Counties.

"He himself was a victim of the system's social inequality when he was denied the RIGHT to marry the woman he loved because his [status] was too low."
    Andrezj Thaddeus Kosciuszko.
I love this guy, A Noble human being.

He had the same political rights as the most powerful aristocrats but his house was not good enough. They were equal in theory but in reality there was a strong hierarchic system.
And we only talk about nobility that was 10% of the total populations. Peasants had no rights at all.

It's crazy that he was born in the priviliged 10% but his social status was still too low to marry the love of his life. Modern social inequalities aren't that bad when you think about this.

He writes about himself as a Lithuanian, and he claims to be from Lithuania (Litwa) 😁 So then the Americans who fought for independence were English men? 😁

Lithuania was at this time a region of the Commonwealth. Kościuszko was born in this region, but spoke and wrote in Polish. Modern Lithuanians try to bend the history, because the real Lithuanians from the Commonwealth are Belarusians. The modern Republic of Lithuania is Samagotia, not Lithuania. They don't even speak the same language as real Lithuanians which was old-Belarusian. What people call Lithuania today is actually a people closer to Teutonic and Livonian Order. It has nothing to do with Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

@@AeronStahl Cute little confidence filled statement, too bad it doesn't reflect facts, thus you are a clown. Tadeusz Kościuszko at least spoke Lithuanian.. Also he directly addresses Lithuanian nation and Lithuanian State during his endeavors.
