Chanting "Amitabha" out loud could calm and purify our minds.
Amitābha is a celestial buddha described in the scriptures of the Mahāyāna school of Buddhism. Amitābha is the principal buddha in the Pure Land sect, a branch of Buddhism practiced mainly in East Asia, while in Vajrayana Amitābha is known for his longevity attribute and the aggregate of distinguishing (recognition) and the deep awareness of individualities. According to these scriptures, Amitābha possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds over countless past lives as a bodhisattva named Dharmakāra. "Amitābha" is translatable as "Infinite Light," hence Amitābha is often called "The Buddha of Infinite Light."
According to the Larger Sūtra of Immeasurable Life (Mahāyāna Amitāyus Sūtra) Amitābha was, in very ancient times and possibly in another system of worlds, a monk named Dharmakāra. In some versions of the sūtra, Dharmakāra is described as a former king who, having come into contact with the Buddhist teachings through the buddha Lokesvararaja, renounced his throne. He then resolved to become a buddha and so to come into possession of a buddhakṣetra ("buddha-field", a realm existing in the primordial universe outside of ordinary space time, produced by a buddha's merit) possessed of many perfections. These resolutions were expressed in his forty-eight vows, which set out the type of buddha-field Dharmakāra aspired to create, the conditions under which beings might be born into that world, and what kind of beings they would be when reborn there.
In the versions of the sutra widely known in China, Vietnam, Korea and Japan, Dharmakāra's eighteenth vow was that any being in any universe desiring to be born into Amitābha's Pure Land and calling upon his name even as few as ten times will be guaranteed rebirth there. His nineteenth vow promises that he, together with his bodhisattvas and other blessed Buddhists, will appear before those who call upon him at the moment of death. This openness and acceptance of all kinds of people has made the Pure Land belief one of the major influences in Mahāyāna Buddhism. Pure Land Buddhism seems to have first become popular in northwest India/Pakistan and Afghanistan, from where it spread to Central Asia and China
The sutra goes on to explain that Amitābha, after accumulating great merit over countless lives, finally achieved buddhahood and is still alive in his land of Sukhāvatī, whose many virtues and joys are described.
Through his efforts, Amitābha created the "Pure Land" (净土, Chinese: jìngtŭ; Japanese: jōdo; Vietnamese: tịnh độ) called Sukhāvatī (Sanskrit: "possessing happiness") . Sukhāvatī is situated in the uttermost west, beyond the bounds of our own world. By the power of his vows, Amitābha has made it possible for all who call upon him to be reborn into this land, there to undergo instruction by him in the dharma and ultimately become bodhisattvas and buddhas in their turn (the ultimate goal of Mahāyāna Buddhism). From there, these same bodhisattvas and buddhas return to our world to help yet more people.
Amitabha is the Buddha of the comprehensive love. He lives in the rest (represented as a meditating Buddha) and works for the enlightenment of all beings (represented as a blessing Buddha). His most important enlightenment technique is the visualization of the surrounding world as a paradise. Who sees his world as a paradise, awakens his enlightenment energy. The world can be seen as a paradise by a corresponding positive thought (enlightenment thought) or by sending light to all beings (wish all beings to be happy). After the Amitabha doctrine, man can come to paradise (in the pure land of Amitabha), if he visualizes at his death Amitabha in the heaven (sun) over his head (western horizon), thinks his name as a mantra and leaves the body as a soul through the crown chakra.
"Amitabha" is the name of a very popular Buddha in Buddhist Practice. His name means "Infinite Light" in Sanskrit. Chanting his name is an ancient form of meditation. More Buddhists follow this practice than follow sitting meditation, for example. Its appeal is due to the fact it can be done anywhere, anytime, in any position; walking, standing, sitting, or laying down. This practice is referred to as "Pure Land" Buddhism. "Namo Amituofo" (being recited here) means "Homage to Amitabha Buddha" in Chinese. It is a very effective way to meditate and is known as the "Buddha Mind Seal" in recognition of this.
Don McMullen nice explanation however the reason we recite the Buddhas name is not to meditate nor is it’s origins about meditation but to rely on the 18th vow of Amitabha Buddha. To simply put it, we recite to be reborn in Amitabha’s Western Pureland, all other forms of reciting has its benefits but is not the purpose of reciting this holy name. Amitabha Buddha is the Buddha of the Western Pureland and is regarded as the King of all Buddhas, it is because of his 18th Vow of why all Buddhas of the 10 directions praise his name. Whoever is listening to this song, close your eyes and calm yourself down. It's really helpful. You can chant this while sitting up or lying down, just lay your head down. During this chant try not to tense your muscles. This song is supposed to relax your body.
My beloved dad passed on recently. I chanted this mantra during the wake to the moment of the cremation & I experienced from weeping uncontrollably to feeling peace to smiles. Namo Ami Tuo Fo. 🙏

There is no secret at all, only when mankind starts to delve into his own consciousness when thought is unreachable for the Mind. As long as our dream lives on. There is truly a Paradise, a Paradise is not outside but within ourself. This is the spirit that stays as long as human perseverance, courage, faith, inspiration and sincerity lives on.

Now i start to believe and understand that there is nothing in the universe really we can hold on to it. Life is a borrow existence and everything is interdependently interconnected. We live and we die, only time is taken away everything once we had possessed. Although, the universe is make up of the totality of each of individual existence. We are not separated from the very beginning. Follow your heart, live with your conscience. It doesn't matter what turns up to be. "Life is not the way we look at it but we can change it the way we want to live with it". That is the course of destiny that we must bear it in our mind. So let it be, live with changes around you. There is no reason why I should wonder hopelessly in self pity. Life is a lesson we mustn't stop learning. Instead one should put the courage to move on. Please don't ever look back, let the past be the past. Alway look ahead beyond the unreachable. There are many things in life that we can fulfill if we make a try. It all depends whether we got the courage to make the first step forward. As long as you got the guts to make the difference , takes the challenge and do the best as our heart want us to follow. When opportunity arises, just give a try or give yourself a chance. Even though, you have given the world the saddest sacrifice. It will never go to a waste. Although, it seems to you that no one wants to care. You may think that this is a cruel world. Don't worry, there is still some light somewhere. Ask ourselves, who is responsible to make the world a miserable to live? In fact, We are the one who are responsible for all the pain and suffering. No one is behind us to condition our life. It is our own unwholesome acts that retards our hope our dream. One shouldn't regret for the impossible. You don't have to be tied down to the changing world. You owe nobody a living. Just live up to what life can offer you or you offer life. With all that ups and downs in life. Please do not be afraid. At the end of the day. It is just a lesson to learn to be happy........? Life is really unpredictable. Nobody knows where and when is the next stop in life we are going to alight. But every stop is another dimension to a new horizon of hope. No one knows what is going to happen. Do not be afraid, in time of trouble, there is someone near you listening to your voices. No one can play God. Everything you possess now may not be the same tomorrow. Something is beyond our intelligent. There all many things we do not understand. Awesome man... Back then when I was a kid, it was between Catholic, or Buddha. Seriously, other religions like Islam, Christian, Jews, they're all fast paced, unlike Catholic and Buddha. In the end, I chose Catholic, because there was a whisper in my ears, "a very wise spiritual teacher will come and the religion he'll preach is the one that you must follow", and well it was a Catholic priest. If it was a Bikkhu, Buddhist monk, I'd be a Buddhist now. But nonetheless, I still like this relaxing chant. Just slow and steady pace, not fast paced... I like that. 😁😁😁

不管你是否以深信切願來念這一句「阿彌陀佛」,或者以求平安富貴來念這一句佛號…,無論任何目的、任何情境、任何時地,只要我們肯念一句「阿彌陀佛」,《法華經》說:「一稱南無佛,皆已成佛道。」
蕅益大師在《佛說阿彌陀經要解》中也說:「稱名便為成佛種子,如金剛終不壞。」
我們呼喚親朋好友的名字,他們會回應。因為名字就是他本身。我們稱念阿彌陀佛的聖號亦如是,佛號就是阿彌陀佛本身。
佛名也是無量劫來一切難行能行的本願功德所積聚成佛才得以呈現的。這句佛號就是阿彌陀佛的四十八大願,就是大慈大悲的佛心。
「心、佛、眾生三無差別」,因為我們眾生與佛同一心體,同一法身,我們念佛,阿彌陀佛念念悉知。
佛有救度一切眾生的大願,我們眾生也有求佛救度的信願;佛願跟眾生願相契相合,皆在一句佛號中水乳交融;
只就這一念,這一句聖號由心念出,眾生心即佛心,佛心即眾生心,同一真如,必定感應道交,眾生願生極樂,必生極樂,悉無隔礙!
不僅必生極樂佛國,因為我們眾生跟十方諸佛同一法身,我們稱念阿彌陀佛聖號,就能以名召德,阿彌陀佛無量劫來從初發菩提心,以及成佛以前菩薩道中一切的六度萬行,乃至成佛之後,如何善巧救度眾生的萬德莊嚴,都會在我們本具的如來智慧德相中薰發、顯現。
一切唯心唯佛,我們愈精進念佛,就愈激發自性中的無量光、無量壽的一切佛智佛德,我們眾生願生極樂,必生極樂佛國,圓證三不退,直往成佛的光明大道邁開大步!

Living in the south east of the United States, where most have never heard of Pureland Buddhism and Amitabha's Deliverance, I have talked with many American born citizen that want to become Pureland Buddhist, but out of fear of rejection, discrimination and religious persecution, choose to remain silent about their new Buddhist beliefs.
They say, "I believe in Amitabha Buddha but fear telling others. My parents and their parents before them are devout Christians and I fear that they will hate me for going against our family and cultural traditions. Also, almost all my friends and coworkers are Christians and I fear that they will try to get in endless religious debates and arguments with me and try to convert me.
Religion, culture and traditions are creations of humankind for the purpose to separate us from one another. Religion is not truth, but is a product of the ego. There is religion and there is truth. Most people do not believe in religion because it is true. Most believe in religion because it is associated with their traditional and cultural identity. Sakyamuni Buddha taught only the truth. Therefore, Buddhism is not a religion created for the purpose of separation, but Buddhism was taught by the Buddha to unite all living beings in the truth. Buddhism is truth itself.
Amitabha Buddha does not care what cultural identity a person may have. He does not care if one is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc. The Buddha knows that such labels and identities are only the result of causal connections and are ultimately and truly empty. He wishes to save all living beings and loves everyone equally. He just respects our free will and waits for everyone to accept his deliverance in their own time. Many religions confuse Buddhism as another religion and reject Amitabha's deliverance simply because it is not part of their cultural and religious identity. This is why, as sincere believers of the Buddha, we should not mistake Buddhism as a religion, but only accept it as truth.
If your fears are still too great, it is perfectly fine to "stay in the closet" as a Pureland Buddhist. Amitabha Buddha knows what is in your heart. He knows that you feel socially obliged to still honor your families cultural traditions. Just recite Amitabha's name to yourself. As you recite, your faith will grow, and your fears will soon disappear. I used to have these same fears of rejection and religious persecution. But after I "came out of the closet" as a Pureland Buddhist, I quickly learned that people can sense your sincerity and conviction.
When a person's faith is sincere,his conviction is strong and they really believe that their beliefs are truth, others can sense this. Feeling this, they will not try to get in endless religious debates and arguments with you or try to convert you. Almost all of my friends, family and coworkers know that I am a Pureland Buddhist and are perfectly fine with it. I am very open about my beliefs and not ashamed to share them. Ever since I "came out of the closet" as a Pureland Buddhist, I have not gotten in one religious debate or argument and no one has tried to convert me. When others see my sincerity and strong conviction, they choose not to debate, argue or try to convert me. They respect my beliefs as I respect their cultural traditions.
Also, I believe that every person, on a deeper level, already knows the truth, and can feel the Light and presence of Amitabha Buddha around me and on a deeper level, already know that the teachings of Pureland Buddhism is real, true and good when they hear them. Therefore, they accept me as a Pureland Buddhist and do not reject me.

我叫李晓静,女,现28岁。老家山东省菏泽的。年轻的时候谈朋友不懂事,没做什么安全措施,堕胎了二次。后来结婚后第一胎早产的,生了个小公主,虽然不是很顺利但挺健康的。后面想要二胎的却时候发生了一件让我彻底崩溃的事情。 在小公主4岁后,婆婆开始想要个孙子。不是不想生,是确实怀不上,医院也跑了不少,药也吃了很多,都说身体正常。我婆婆比较这个人比较迷信吧,前年回国的时候她听别人说在山东有一个道长很厉害,挺出名的。她想都没想就叫了个车带我去了。 花了一上午的时间才到道观,道长问了我的生辰八字后,自己盘算着,过了会儿看了看我,说我是不是堕胎了(堕胎这件事情我婆婆都不知道,当时特别惊讶),他还说了很多我的工作情况和我和我老公的感情情况我的工作情况,都说的很对,真是神了。他说我命中至少会有两个孩子的,活下来的头胎是女孩,二胎是男孩。因之前堕胎后那个小孩的婴灵没有超度,需要给孩子超度,等做完超度法事就好了,让我这个月内不要杀生,弄完后道长让我加了他薇信3785668,说最近身体有什么大的变化随时给他发薇信。 我当时开玩笑的说想不到道长您还挺时尚的,他说要与时俱进,说国外也有很多他的友人,也帮过友人算过八字和做法事。回来这之后的两个月后,我发现没有来例假,去医院检查,真的怀孕了,几个月后通过关系去检查果然验证了道长的话是个男孩。 从不相信任何迷信到现在信有这些事物的存在,开始信了,现在儿子也周岁了,很健康,特别特别感谢那个道长,世上那么多宗教能存在确实有它的道理。希望两个孩子能一直健康成长。

Simple, honest and sincere message can make the difference if we can alway accept other as it is. Just think, we are imperfect human being. So, don't expect people to be perfect too. Learn to see into our own weaknesses, learn to listen to our voices of fear. They are the obstacles to the truth and happiness. We can change it only when we realise that the journey to our seeking doesn't come from condemnation but faith to believe and a listening heart. Everyone has it own greivances, his or her short comings. Do not lose hopes in this tragic and imperfect nature we have. From the start we are not perfect at all. Whether we have sin or karmaic action commit in the past, we are relocated here to pay back what we had done for our past deeds. All these karmas need to be settled. It may take many life times. Everyone too has an opportunity to blast his way to Buddhahood depending each of individual sincerity of cultivation.
Perfection don't come easy but we can make it a try. Give other a chance to make up their imperfectness. Then we will be able to understand the answer to our imperfection. Why we are here?
We can make the difference only when we understand nobody is perfect.
Imperfectness is not the sin to be condemned or to be cursed. As long as we have faith to believe and courage to change for better.
Life can be full of blessing and hope. We can make the difference not only for ourself but also for rest of humanity. In fact, it is the gift of Love , Forgiveness and Compassion that divinely makes humanity come closer to sacredness of Life. This makes the difference .

救度父母子女最有效的方法〉
三十幾年前,我有緣讀到陳慧劍先生所著的「弘一大師傳」,因此勸告我肺腺癌末期的父親發願往生西方極樂佛國;我父親臨終瑞相多種,高舉念珠念佛而逝。我除了對大慈大悲的阿彌陀佛無比的感恩外,因為弘一大師是以普賢行願往生極樂世界,我也產生了學習普賢十大願王的意樂。在我房子正面臨路的一樓上端,我請人做了普賢十大願王綱目的看板;平日,供養三寶、助印佛經及戒本、幫寺院編書、出書,臨終助念、放生…等等都盡力做去,其中臨終助念常常見到往生者顯示多種不同的瑞相。而三十幾年來,我最喜歡的是到各大醫院中,特別是癌症門診、化療室及癌症病房、安寧病房贈送佛號錄音帶、念佛機和自己所寫念佛法要的影印,勸人發願求生極樂佛國。如今我體力漸衰,轉而搭乘捷運到各地,再步行繞街,贈送念佛法要給各地區的一般住家。
當我讀到《普賢行願品》中:「又復是人,臨命終時,最後剎那,一切諸根悉皆散壞,一切親屬悉皆捨離,一切威勢悉皆退失,輔相大臣,宮城內外,象馬車乘,珍寶伏藏,如是一切,無復相隨,唯此願王不相捨離,於一切時引導其前,一剎那中,即得往生極樂世界,到已,即見阿彌陀佛,文殊師利菩薩,普賢菩薩,觀自在菩薩,彌勒菩薩等,此諸菩薩色相端嚴,功德具足,所共圍繞,其人自見生蓮華中,蒙佛授記。」這一段經文,我真是說不出的歡喜。因為只要我能念佛,能發願往生極樂佛國,並且讀誦、學習、受持普賢十大願王,無論我死亡時,是否昏迷,忘了念佛;是否遭遇水淹、火燒、車禍、墜機…等等意外災難而死,無法念佛,唯此十大願王不會捨棄我,於一切時引導我,在一剎那這麼短的時間,就往生到極樂佛國;而且馬上見到阿彌陀佛,見到大菩薩們,這是上品上生啊!每天讀誦到這一段,歡喜之心不曾減少。後來,我在《普賢行願品輯要疏》中讀到諦閑大師自述,他見到這段經文,亦甚為歡喜,「遂決意持此品為日課，終身奉為淨土指南。」
我八十九歲母親的往生極樂,更讓我深深感悟:我們若發願讀誦《普賢行願品》,學習普賢十大願王,願意從現今乃至盡未來無量劫中,幫助一切眾生往生極樂佛國,早證無上菩提。最先受益的人,就是我們的父母,特別是懷胎十月、含辛茹苦的母親!
我的母親個性剛強,在我父親往生後,她開始作早晚課,每天至少念二萬佛號,三十幾年不間斷。但臨終前幾年,不知怎麼的,忽然將念佛誦經轉向福報觀念,念念祈求長壽,固執的以活過九十歲為目標。往往我請她發願往生極樂,她毫無概念,都說不出來。唉!這種貪戀長壽是往生極樂的最大障礙,令我非常憂愁,因為貪著色身壽命的她,就算臨終助念,她聽到佛號,還是捨不得這個臭皮囊,不願往生極樂,又如何能夠招感阿彌陀佛來接引?由於我三十幾年來一直在學習普賢十大願王,我母親臨終前幾天,在單人安寧病房裡,她快要陷入昏迷之際,我就在她耳邊大聲的說三次:願我學習普賢行願的所有功德迴向給她,願她蒙佛接引,往生極樂佛國!我跟家人也隨著念佛機不斷的接力助念,在佛前懇請阿彌陀佛慈悲來接引她!我屢次在其耳邊告訴她:「壽命長短有定數,一定要耐心等待阿彌陀佛來接引,阿彌陀佛一定會來!」
後來,我的母親陷入昏迷,肺癌的肺部漸漸衰竭,就在臨終斷氣的那一剎那,當時聽到空中傳來一聲引磐聲,牆上阿彌陀佛金像的蓮座放射如救護車的紅光,承蒙大慈大悲阿彌陀佛來接引她,讓我的母親能夠由極大障礙中迅速超昇到佛國,我才體認到是普賢行願的威神力推昇了我母親往生極樂世界!十大願王如此不可思議的引導她脫離了三界牢獄!如《普賢行願品》所說:「願我臨欲命終時,盡除一切諸障礙,面見彼佛阿彌陀,即得往生安樂剎。」而普賢行願是普賢菩薩所教,我天天感恩普賢菩薩救度了我的母親!
十方三世一切菩薩皆以普賢行願而入法身聖位,因為我們行持普賢行願的此身,來自於我們父母的生育,我們行持普賢行願的一切真實功德,念念也會自然回歸我們的父母,我們的父母也有一份。所謂:「一子得聖道,九祖皆超昇。」當我們的父母命終之時,不僅大慈大悲的普賢菩薩時時慈佑擁護,用普賢威神力摧滅他們身心內外的一切障礙,並以十大願王引導他們歸向極樂佛國;更由於普賢行願是菩薩道的總綱,行者念念發菩提心常隨佛學,所行的一切入世出世的功德,皆是要幫助法界一切的眾生往生極樂世界去成佛,阿彌陀佛也一定會以第十九大願:「設我得佛，十方眾生，發菩提心，修諸功德，至心發願，欲生我國，臨壽終時，假令不與大眾圍繞現其人前者，不取正覺。」慈悲來攝受普賢行願者的父母,因為他們是不可分開的「功德共同體」!他們必能上品上生,馬上花開見佛,蒙佛授記,早日成佛,普度一切眾生。所以「普賢行願」又被稱為「入不可思議解脫境界勝法門」!
同樣的,我們的子女也是我們一部份的基因遺傳,我們發願行持普賢十大願王,利益眾生往生極樂去成佛,無論我們的子女何時壽終,他們一樣會仗此功德超昇到極樂佛國。
我們往生極樂佛國就是轉凡成聖。阿彌陀佛無量劫以來,難行能行建立了極樂淨土,仰仗阿彌陀佛的大悲願力、大神通力,無論我們罪輕罪重,只要發願往生,就算只有臨終一念願生極樂,皆可往生!《佛說阿彌陀經》中說:應當發願,願生即生!只要有願,萬人願生,萬人皆生極樂,阿彌陀佛救度一切眾生毫無條件,悉皆接引往生佛國!而大慈大悲的阿彌陀佛也讓往生到佛國的眾生,馬上就成為三不退的七地菩薩,這種聖位遠勝於得道的四種阿羅漢,更是最真正的「一子得道,九祖超昇」!往生極樂的眾生,當下緣深感應,也會感召「命運共同體」的父母子女將來必能往生極樂,如磁與鐵互相吸引。
更何況,生到極樂,人人具足大乘心及六種神通,不會只有獨善其身,必定能夠救度宿世緣深的眾生。簡單地說,若我幫助我的父母往生極樂世界,由於命運共同體的宿世深緣所牽引,我的祖父母、外祖父母以及我的兄弟姊妹…等等,有血緣關係的眾生,輾轉牽引化度,皆會提早被大慈大悲阿彌陀佛的功德願力所救度,早生極樂,早成佛道!
因為阿彌陀佛的壽命是不可數的無量劫,所以,最簡捷圓滿的菩薩道就是普賢行願,就是發願生生世世自利利他,早生西方極樂世界,早證無上菩提,共成佛道!
我們只要發真實願:願盡未來無量劫中幫助法界一切眾生往生西方極樂佛國去成佛;不管我們的父、母、子、女、(流產的胎兒也是)、緣深的夫或妻,他們現在在哪個法界,他們都會由於我們普賢行願的威神力摧滅惡業而變易生死,普賢十大願王會馬上引導他們脫離六道輪迴,往生極樂世界,必證無上菩提。倘若我們來日上品上生極樂世界,我們將來行持普賢行願也會更加圓滿無礙!
十方三世諸佛皆在人道中成佛,人道苦樂參半,是六道中上昇下墜的轉捩點,也是六道中最容易修證佛法的法界;所以《普賢行願品》中說:普賢行願者善來人中生。普賢行願者往生極樂後,都是迅速又迴入娑婆來度化眾生,在人道中與眾生共生死、共患難,皆是在眾生海中實修實證。不管我們生生世世遇到好或壞的父母子女夫妻,皆是菩薩道中化度眾生的實際經驗,遇事練心,皆可開發無上般若,直取法身的萬德莊嚴。往往吾人在求生不能、求死不得之際,才能深刻體悟到諸佛菩薩大慈大悲的誓願不虛,我們才能以無比感恩之心來學習佛菩薩的行願,並且轉化成自己在未來無量劫中自利利他的堅固行願,自己能夠成佛,也幫助一切眾生早成佛道!
