Can happen. The box office doesn't always reflect how good a movie actually is. The bay movies might be cash cows but me as a long time Transformers fan I put Transformers One, Transformers the movie and Bumblebee movie above them for sure. The marketing wasn't the best for this movie, especially the 1st trailer made it feel like it's rather a pure fun movie while the 2nd trailer was actually good. The other factor is, with Rise of the Beasts already not performing well, lots of non Transformers fans had no interest to give TF One any chance. Especially as it's an animated movie. I personally love TF one. Hope they continue the story at least as an animated series.

The fandom is too splintered these days to give the necessary support to ANY TF media really. No wonder Hasbro is calling it quits.
I feel like they wanted it to fail to be honest.
Agree with you, this is the best Tf movie ever made. I hope we'll get a sequel tho.
