The van did indicate and he was in front of you so why should you get mad
You can indicate but you still need to make sure it is clear before you move over. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre, not signal mirror manoeuvre however the man saw me and acted accordingly like a good driver. Point is, you have to be ready for anything.

If your on 2 wheels you don’t exist…..don’t forget this if you do well we will forget you
Just because your signal is on doesn't you can just move over. This is basic driving 101. Geez
Not criticizing Kate since she handled it properly, but it seems to me that the people making comments on this are likely to die in traffic. When filtering, you don’t drive around someone who has their indicator on. It doesn’t matter who has the right away. You’re the one who’s going to die.
You hold your head high over the whole bike-jacker thing…. Don’t waste any time on the haters, 99.9% appreciate the efforts you go to and the actions you took would be supported by again a vast majority of us. Stay safe out there and catch ya on the road. 👍👍👍

If I went back to commuting on two wheels it would be on a maxi scooter. More practical than a motorcycle and fast enough.
Riding it feels like no effort and is weirdly fun!!! Would recommend all day! Although, I definitely get taken on less by other riders, barely any nods back 🤣 it's fine though, they probably just secretly want a maxi scooter 🤭

I had a loan of the newer version while my GS was being serviced. Brilliant fun in town, heated seat and grips was useful as it was winter. As a town only bike ✔

I love the idea of a scooter if I had to commute into work everyday. Your advice to people on filtering was really good, you should never ride out of your comfort zone. Looking forward to the GS tyre test, as I will be needing some tyres soon

I'd say your reaction to the white van was exactly the right one i.e. stay calm and move on. I've watched a few of those road-rage type compilation vids and they're filled with folk that need to take a chill pill and, in many cases, assess their own driving/riding skills! As for the trolls, although it's easy to say, ignore the haters and keep on doing what you're doing :)

You're good at lane splitting. I do it here in Los Angeles and I do get a weird sense of calmness when I do it...but I don't know why? One time I smacked a guys side view mirror in Santa Monica when I was on Pacific Coast Highway. I pulled over at the gas station just ahead and waited for him in plain sight but he never stopped! Love your British Accent too ;)...it's cool.

That Jeep that you passed is fairly common here in the US. The cons are they are heavy, poor gas mileage, not as much interior room as you might think. But, that said, the young people love em. Many owners customize them with all kinds of add-ons. They are built by Chrysler with the Jeep badge, but they have little in common with the original Jeep brand. Love watching and listening to you ride, sorry to hear about Mike's finger. I guess it's an expensive lesson to keep your fingers out from around the bottom of the mower. Love the scooter btw, I ride a Honda Shadow 750 and would love to downsize into a Suzuki Burgman 400 if I had the chance. Great video, ride safe young lass!

I had my middle finger tip crushed between two rocks (clearing stream bed for concrete form). Clip'd 'n sewed ... will hurt like Hades for two weeks after the shot wears off (didn't take any other medications). Hope Mike's doing good. If writing hand, takes some getting used to holding pencils 'n pens.

As for the bike jacking incident, you did exactly right! Don’t listen to internet trolls. If they can’t find something to criticize they have no purpose in life. Very sad people indeed! Don’t give them any consideration! You did exactly the right thing in that situation.
Kate - did you know Way back in the old days the biggest and best BMW bike dealer in the NW was "Doug Hacking" located on Blackburn Rd, Bolton. Superb shop in every way, they unfortunately lost their concession as BMW changed the way it sold bikes in the late 1990s. They relocated to a bigger more modern premise but still lost the concession. That is now known as Bolton Motorcycles, still run by the same family.

GT does look great! Haven't managed to ride it yet as my colleague Nasher keeps hogging it 🤣 I suppose that in itself says a lot about it though!
Nice bike Kate. I don't know how long you have been riding, but if you want a bit of advice from an old hand (10 years then a 10 year break followed by another 23 years) slow it down when filtering. If anything happens such as a car changing lanes without indicating or a door suddenly opening on a stationary car you have more time to react. A good rule of thumb is no more than 5mph faster than the other traffic.

I am thankful you took a compromise on your personal protection gear but compared to all the younger riders I see, shorts and t-shirt, even flip flops. I am so happy for you for your Scotland holiday. Editing take your time we can wait to watch the good stuff.

I’m in the process of getting the final edition Suzuki GSX S750 going to have trade in my amazing husqvarna 401 svartpillion for it.10 days ago I bought the new Royal Enfield meteor stellar 350 plus I have had a Royal Enfield Continental 535 GT for 5 years that’s the longest I’ve ever owned a bike so that’s not really answering your question so I suppose at this moment in time it has to be the 535GT it always gets lots of attention at bike nights or cafes 😊
It funny how experienced riders, who spend hundreds of thousands miles on a liter motorcycles, are really enjoying and like scooters. While beginners like me don't even consider trying a scooter instead.

yeah there is a guy called Fireman Sam or something, he is an Instructor, and featured you, and criticised you (when you where fleeing danger) for not doing your shoulder checks etc etc. I laughed, as he is a bit of a tosser anyway. Love it, the Scoot rides are back! Anything on two wheels will do me. And when its boiling hot, you want an easy ride.
Haha I am the queen of the shoulder checks, like a bloody Churchill dog on the back shelf of a Nissan Micra 🤣 I remember he critised me because I looked behind me but I just wanted to see with my own 2 eyes that they'd buggered off 👀🤣 all good fun 😅

Yes occasionally but not often! Depends, if there is a crash, it can take over an hour in the car. To be honest, I usually ride into work rain or shine 😊

But seriously, there are plenty of victims of crime who didn't have better instincts to a bad situation or the belief that people are angels and that bad things can't happen to them. So don't apologize for looking after yourself - nobody else is going to do it for you.
When the van moved across your path, you could have:-
Blasted the horn, shouted abuse, ranted at the driver, or even, as seems popular on UA-cam, punched the mirror!!
INSTANT UA-cam GOLD!!
.......and for what?
The driver, probably didn't expect you to be there, and therefore, probably didn't look properly.
We all know this happens all the time, getting angry doesn't fix anything, it usually makes the rider look bad.........or stupid!!
