I was a complete baulders gate noob but your easy to understand and excellent knowledge make everything so easy to understand! Thank you so much and please keep up the content!
For the Ring at 10:12. You can get it without upsetting the Druids fairly easily. You just need to get the quest to steal the Idol from Mol before you finish any quest that allows the Tiefs to stay in the grove. Then if you expose Kahga so she lets them stay/dies, or rescue Halsin, you can use a Mage Hand or stealth to just take the idol. It won't trigger the druids to attack the Tieflings, and you can give it to Mol even when she is waiting by the gate to leave and she will reward you with it. I usually get it day one by going Grove > Kahga Chest (so you can't fail the roll to find the note later) > Mephits > Letter > Shadow Druids.
You can take the idol without angering the druids the moment you first reach the Druid grove. Click to pick it up, and teleport to camp while it's still in the air - before it's added into your inventory.
One cool trick I enjoy using is using on my tavern brawler monk is to use the club of hill giant strength in my off hand for a free 19 strength. To do this just equip another light weapon in the monk's main hand and the club in their off hand. Then take another character with no weapons equipped, go into their inventory, and equip the weapon from the monk's main hand. It has saved me so many strength potions and made this one of my favorite builds.
I love this build so much. I think this and 12 fighter lol are the only two builds I take along to 100% of HM runs. I sometimes bring two monks, it's so busted and doesn't need constant micromanaging for gear the whole run. Suits my lazy playstyle down to the ground, thanks for teaching me 👊
Well tavern brawler is one of the main points here (and of course their stunning strike that can stun reliably even bosses). Moon druid with tavern brawler is also crazy strong - allies in elementals and woodland being, very strong shapeshift attacks (all animal and earth myrmidon), 3 attacks and spellcasting - you can even multiclass at lvl12 and trade one feat for wizard spells.
I love playing monk even though it gets shafted by D&D main rules. Tavern Brawler and all the monk gear was such an ingenious way to bring Monk up to the other classes on how powerful they are
@@ReplicatorFifth Frankly the way BG3 monk is set up it doesn't even "need" the gear and tavern brawler. The 2014 print of monk is just poor, and refuses to give them anything to play with except a small pool of ki points you have to long rest to get back.
knowing nothing about baldur's gate or DnD when first playing BG3 blind, i picked monk. It's so good. My whole approach to playing games is different now. This vid brings back so many great memories. Great job!
Got my Gold dice following your gloom stalker guide, 2nd attempt. Died to Ansur on the 1st bc I was greedy. Love your videos and fun you bring to the game!
Just want to say thank you so much for the content! I've been able to catch a few streams, been binging your vods and love watching you play your way. Play what you want how you want when you want
This made me smile thank you. I have a unique play style and I'm glad people find it entertaining. As always I appreciate everyone's company during my videos and streams
In my current run, I've noticed that sneak attack automatically applying to the first hit of Flurry of Blows sometimes prevents the second hit from happening, so I have it set to ask
My Monk was vital in saving all the gnomes in the Steel Watch factory, jumping inhuman distances around the battlefield and using Flurry of Blows: Push to shove the Steel Watchers away so they don't detonate next to NPCs.
My first playthrough was Monk in Tactitian. Multiclassed into thief for the extra bonus action like you did. I had to keep checking to see if I was actually at the hardest difficulty (it was then), because as unoptimized as I was, I was just murdering kids. Made the game a breeze. Some don't like it, but it's fun to be OP for a while.
I was so bummed out that monk wasn't in the EA but it was so worth the wait 😍 Even in BG2 monk is utterly busted. Such a great class. Your showcase was fun!
Boss character: "I have legendary resistance!" 4 monk team: "Only 3 charges of it. And guess how many Stunning Strikes we're about to unload onto you."
Hey Ev, once again great content! BG3 is too easy, even on honour mode. I suggesting installing these mods: True Initiative, Combat Extender, and Absolute Wrath. It makes the game way more challenging and fun and it gives OP builds like TB monk and berserker thrower, ice/lighting sorc, and bard paladin a chance to truly test their mettle! Keep it coming!
If this could be done solo, imagine what you could do with a full team of 4 monks. Keep the best equipment for your Tav/favourite character, and it sounds like the rest of the party can get by without any gear. there are plenty of gloves that buff unarmed strikes, so everyone can get at least one, and you can buy loads of elixirs from Auntie Ethel in the Druid Grove.
Did a playthrough this way solo after the fighter solo playthrough and while not as god tier end everything as a fighter , monk DOES get some fun shenanigans.
Thank you for the amazing build & i hope this isnt the last. Youre very enjoyable to watch & i hope maybe you could have fun with modded classes and see if that can be a challenge for u
So far I brought along a berserker / paladin, a throwserker, a sword bard (tav) and a light cleric to my honor mode run. Just hit lv6 last night so it's going quite good - but after watching this guide I'm kinda convinced to switch out a class and add a monk in. 😄 I love throwing and pushing enemies around.
See, I DID use Divine Intervention for Radiant Damage on my first playthrough (Balanced Mode), and Hope did go down from the backlash, but immediately returned with one health. This, funnily enough, allows you to use Divine Intervention AGAIN on the next turn. You know, even though you can supposedly only use it once per game per character. 😉
Monks have so many broken ways to be build and used from tavern brawler to being the fastest condition stackers in the entire game. One thing I love to use is the Flawed Helldusk Gloves on any target that can bleed. The condition "Bleeding" gives disadvantage on Con saves which is the save for Stunning Strike. Don't even get me started on how powerful Boots of Stormy Clamour are on them.
Monk is great. I have not even used a strength elixir yet and I am in act 3. Also if you make Tav a monk you can give Grym's helm to one character, shield to another and armour to the 3rd companion making all of your companions totally immune to critical hits.
I'm playing in a different way now. Through an "Ki Resonation". Resonation, Resonation and Bang! The beginning of the pumping is the same. 9 monk and 3 Rogue (thief). and equip Аgility armor )
I love the video and a monk its how i got my golden dice. I am a fan of going 17 wisdom and going all the way to 22 wisdom with mirror of loss/feats bc wisdom double dips as damage and ac but i see the use of alert
TB Monk doesn't use dex for attack rolls. The dex modifier only gets added to attack rolls if it is higher than the strength modifier. So, if you're using strength elixirs, it is the strength modifier that gets added. Anyways, a great build guide!
I did an open hand monk halfling a few playthrough ago and it was my highest dealer of damage in the party even without using tavern brawler + strength boosts or any meta cheese. Hands > Bae'zel's giant sword. I loved it so much and wanna try it again with maybe Karlach in the future. In my current playthrough, I respecced Shart into a four elements monk and it's so underwhelming by comparison.
Going 9th lvl on Open Hand monk, gives you a weapon action skill that's always unarmed, meaning you can use weapons on your character for the statstick. only thing you lose is action surge really. So depends on whenever you want 1 more action once per short rest. Or every attack have way better crit chance (or more damage) due to weapon you use.
My first ever playthrough I respecced to monk/thief at about act 3 and it felt like the game finally had shown it’s secrets to me and turned my meh Tav into a monster Always try to make someone one now, currently Jaheira on my modded playthrough (Druid is bugged 😢)
im not sure if it's the same one but there is a mod that gives you a shotgun for shooting rats or some such that was made by a fan of hers. It's Evelyn in the title of the mod and the picture is mommy milkers
I hope that the "advanced ballistics" mod you have for your Tav includes an elixir of strength for her upper back. Sorry, hard not to notice the non-standard "equipment" she is packing :) Thanks as always for the content.
Regarding the Sentinel Amulet. I haven't made it to act 3 and the amulet is unlocked. Cant remember when it exactly when it happened . Im thinking it happened when I got the Blood of Lathander. It seemed he was excited to see it. Of course I wasn't paying attention being I very rarely do I ever listen to conversations let alone banter anymore. Then I noticed it unlocked when I got in to act 2. I was wearing it at the time. So not sure how it unlocked but it is.
When i first played the game i self inserted as a barbarian monk and wondered why i was steamrolling everything, then i bumped it to tactician and i was still having an easy go of it. Honour mode honestly doesn't add immense difficulty when you can disable most boss' legendary actions and never have to find out what they do by stunning them and perhaps a minion of theirs every turn. By the time they get to take an action the fight is a foregone conclusion
Not as optimized, but I really liked playing monk-barbarian. Tavern brawler, very high strength and constitution. Guess it turned out more of a throwing build than an unarmed one. Throw enemies, throw chairs, throw my special trident, throw everything and deal big damage. Barbarian also has the berserker subclass that unlocks great dialogue choices. I went monk to level 4 for that first feat, then all 8 remaining levels barbarian.
Not enough ice cubes for my preference but constant cc and high damage output is useful too, I guess Jokes aside thank you so much for all the build guides you have done Ev, they have been a lot of fun to test out and have made the game so enjoyable even after hundreds of hours of gameplay Also I wish hot mama could punch me into submission
I ran a similar build for one of my honor runs but I preferred monk 6 thief 3 barb wildheart bear 3 Very similar to your build but one less feat and no action surge but with amulet of vitality and resistance to everything but psychic damage it pretty much never died.
the punching sound is what made me only make this build to beat honor mode. I would love playing if it was a baddas sound. Or just a normal punch sound. Picky as shit, might be guy iam

I ran a similar build for one of my honor runs but I preferred monk 6 thief 3 barb wildheart bear 3
Very similar to your build but one less feat and no action surge but with amulet of vitality and resistance to everything but psychic damage it pretty much never died.
OK this title is what I subbed for
I'm fairly certain BG3's monk is why Wizards of the Coast fixed the monk in the actual DnD game.
the punching sound is what made me only make this build to beat honor mode. I would love playing if it was a baddas sound. Or just a normal punch sound. Picky as shit, might be guy iam
Lae'Zel's big naturals absolutely threw me
