Amy Wang played so calmly without losing sharpness. Fantastic.
Love her style!!!!
Adam: very casual very slim very fearless vs world class
BOTH ARE GREAT PLAYERS !!!
Good sportsmanship by Lily, my favorite to win.
Nice job by Amy. She's improving all the time. That's a fantastic performance!!
l女好捧勵害
Awesome
Could you tell me, what are blade and rubber amy use?
nice to see Adam Bobrow busy with his actual job apart from youtube.
Amy’s backhand reflects much faster speed, and Lily’s serve needs major work.
Lets go Amy!
Great match. Intense focus. What an intense sport!
If this was the old ball, a good strategy against someone who is staying close to the table and hurting you with their counter-game is to back up and spin higher and deeper and also put some side-spin on the ball to slow them down, give them something to think about. But with this new ball, it doesn't spin very much and so basically it becomes a contest of who can hit off-the-bounce better. This is how Harimoto defeated so many top players when he was only 14. Those who understand this can do well. Personally, I see this as the destruction of our once-awesome sport. And now I sound like those old hardbatters who complained that sponge was ruining the game. :)
Xu Xin is an away from table player who can still slow down Harimototo his rhythm and beat him far from the table
@@gab5012 o.k., so you need a world #2 to stop a 14 year old? With the old ball, Harimoto would have been maybe, maybe, and I'm being generous, about World #50-75. Not saying he couldn't eventually develop into a world top 10, but it wouldn't have happened at 14, it would have taken an extra 10 years. So this new ball simplified the game, basically made everyone play close to the table counters. It was promised to extend rallies and get us on TV.... did it?
@@marcoborrillo8097 Yeah not really, the Chinese dominance also lowered because of the change. I'm not saying the plastic ball change was a good thing. It reduced the number of playstyles by a lot, we likely won't be seeing players like Waldner making it to the top the same way he did with the bigger ball. But saying that the game is simplified to being the best close to the table players are invincible or the best style is just pure arrogance
also keep in mind, most chinese top players don't hit off the bounce, the standard timing point for the forehand loop is still after the highest point of the ball for better consistency and top players like Ma Long still follow that in general (also don't bring up harimoto's forehand, compared to the Chinese his FH is mediocre at best)
I started in 2018 so I never got to try the old ball, but that sounds awesome! Wish they could bring itt back!
Is there really no scoreboard?
Look at this casual eat up in USA.
In China it would a show with matching uniforms . world of difference.
The power of a calm player
Silken smooth.

Nice play Amy!...Lilly looked like she was having some problems in the head..Amy's playing might have had something to do with that...
Lily’s backhand attack needs improvement. Amy’s backhand is deadly and yet Lily kept serving that side of the table at initial 2-3 sets. Lily should be able to do fast backhand whip. Maybe her rubber couldn’t do that.
seems Lily's strokes were more of the old school strokes where it was o.k. to spin high & deep. But with this new plastic ball, that is no longer a safe shot. Apparently with this new ball you must drive foreward and keep the ball very low over the net otherwise it is easily countered. In the old days we were taught that "whoever opens up first has a better chance of winning the point" and maybe that's what is still in Lily's mind. But with this new ball, I would say if you can't hit a winner maybe it's better to make a high-level push instead, either very short or jam them in the switch point. Unfortunately the few times Lily pushed she went right into Amy's power zone, and Amy's strokes are perfect for the plastic ball, she doesn't spin up, she goes foreward on everything. on top of that, as I said above, I think it was an off-day for Lily, we've seen her play better, serve better, and attack better. And Amy was having about the best day I've ever see, with sick inside-out backhands, nearly perfect counterloops off the bounce, and so on. So I don't think it was as much of a strategy issue- Lily knows what to do, this isn't her first rodeo. It was just a rough day. We see that in Tennis, sometimes there are upsets. You can't be your best every day.
Lily's backhand seems sedated. Always giving Amy the chance to punish those high and slow loops with a forehand kill.
What city?
Las Vegas
Las Vegas
Excellent play by both ladies...but USATT we have to do much better! no commentary, no video scoreboard, umpire not even calling out score so viewers know what's going on. If we want Table Tennis in the U.S to EVER generate any excitement we MUST step up our presentation!
They need Adam Bobrow.
How tall is Amy?
Lily's first attack is too soft and can easily be countered. She needs to work on that to improve her game.
Amy play very well 👏.
What's up with Lily not showing up? Has she been sick or something?
I think Lily played as well as Amy let her. She was surprised by long fast serves a few times in that critical 4th game. Lily also has that serve as she demonstrated in the next game, but she could have tried it in that 4th game when she had 1 point advantage. If it were 2:2, the player who is stronger mentally and more composed would have won. Lily did improve noticeably in the last few years. Her forehand attacks have lots of power, but she was able to use it only in the 3rd game which she dominated. I think Lily was actually more focused than Amy. Amy's body language seemed to indicate like the win was hers from the beginning and when she lost a point she was acting in disbelief. Congratulations to both ladies for reaching the final.
amy wang 2022!
B
Lily had way too many service errors for her level, and way too many unforced errors, even serve errors. She needs to stay focused.
Lily spent time in China and was training at the German league, still no improvement, Amy stayed at home and played like she was touring the world-awesome game congrats on a big win...
I guess wellknown mr. Bobrov talks
Adam?
adam's pants
Such a dork with that pants
They are in black both. How to different?
One's better looking than the other but smells the same.
what the heck... it's only 4-4 and already Amy made 2 backhands that made my eyes pop out of my head. This is a different Amy.
After 2 games, all I can say is, Lily appears to be having a tough day, and Amy is having a great day. And that's about all I can say. Not sure I see any glaring problems from Lily. Then again, I don't understand this new ball as well as the old. And this is Vegas, slightly higher elevation, slightly thinner air. Spin doesn't move through the air the same, ball just goes straight and spin stays on the ball...
So it's been about 5 years with this new plastic ball. Has it brought in all the big TV contracts that they promised it would? Or was it just a scam to make extra money for a select few? Worst decision of Table Tennis. You don't see Tennis changing the ball completely like this. This hurt the game, IMO. And overnight 30 years of experience became useless. I think Waldner said it best, he said something like "before there were many ways to play, now there is only 1 way to play."
Was this an upset ? Amy was the favorite ? :)
Note: The highest ranked U.S. citizen in the world rankings is not representing the U.S. in table tennis for the women's Olympic competition.
who are you thinking of? I wonder if Zhang Yining is still living here, I think it's been more than 10 years now, I wonder if we can talk her into joining the team? :)
Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico. She is a U.S. citizen, current ITTF world ranking of #18. Lily Zhang is ranked #31. Adriana Diaz will represent Puerto Rico in the Olympics.
@@rogerjeanice8685 Puerto Rico is not a US State. Google's answers are a little confusing, it says it is neither a soverign nation nor a state. Interesting- but the bottom line is that Puerto Ricans cannot vote in USA's elections. So I'm guessing they have their own Olympic team. Adriana can not represent USA.
@@rogerjeanice8685 LOL Puerto Rico is outside USA, are you a robot/not human? just kidding
Puerto Ricans are citizizens of the United States. She is eligible to represent the U.S. in the olympics. But she will represent Puerto Rico in the games.
Some stupid audiences were making noise during play, probably think it was just a ping-pong match in some community center, poor Lily and Amy.
In my opinion they should ban timeouts... except maybe between games❗
wwww チャイニーズの同窓会かよwww
Adam's videos have a much higher production value than this. Gotta do better, USATT.
这两个人和陈梦孙颖莎打过比赛ua-cam.com/video/OIquY7IDWzM/v-deo.html。
boring
Talk too much
these are baaaaaaaaaad (stephen a voice) women!!
What a boring match!
