    What strikes me is the elegance as well as the powerhouse aspect to it. Natural strength entirely matched with refinement. It’s phenomenal to witness.
    Thank you for posting this alongside the music so we can get a 360 degree appreciation (also for the exceptional accompanist).

    Am I wrong or the last note was supposed to be sung one octave lower but most tenors decided to sing it higher?

      Not only the last note, some of the last notes are not wrote by verdi

      There is a ossia cadenza for the ending that is what every professional tenor is expected to sing.

      Yes the original was written an octave lower, long ago they started to "show off" and it became a standard.

      Lots of famous Verdi high notes are not written. Di quella pira doesn't have anything above Bb4, and yet its now famous for being the longest C5 (for a male role, obvs) in opera.
