Coleman Guy is awesome! Thanks for all your help on these videos. I own a 1998 Casa Grande and just pulled this stuff apart. I would like to add to this video that removing the ABS plastic cover takes some careful work. The rivets are easy to remove, as shown in the video, and the bottom section pops our out easily. The top part is a little harder. The top fits into a tight aluminum channel. There is a strip of light tape adhesive in the channel under the plastic. This makes it really hard to slip it out. I recommend gently lifting up and then moving the plastic out from one corner to the middle then to the other corner. Steady pressure will get it out. Also, pounding out the roll pin and solid pins are a pain in the butt. Get a good punch pin set and try hitting them from the bottom side. (just noticed i'm on wife's youtube account, i'm zack martin not leigh)

Great video. My Coleman Williamsburg is stuck all the way up- over cranked. What is best way to get it down?

Is there any way in converting a waist level to a bumper level crank system so if it goes again it's less work to fix?

It is possible, but the parts might be hard to find. I'd say fix it right and don't raise it wrong. You should never have another problem. Read and understand why it broke in the first place. www.campersolutions.com/home/help-my-roof-won-t-lower

Just wondering....if I am just replacing the drive hub extension tube can I do that without taking the entire panel off? If it is a roll pin I think I do have to take the panel off....correct?

If it is just an extension tube on a waist level crank, then you do not have to remove any panels. On a waist level crank to replace the drive shaft, you do. On a bumper level crank, you can do it all from below.
Roll pins are located in a lot of locations and I can't answer without knowing which one.

What would be the cause of the brake disc seeming to bind and not let me lower the camper the last two feet? 97 Coleman Cheyenne

My Coleman is hard to crank up and the chain pops and skips. It also does not engage going down. Is it possible that the upper crank is stripped? Or can the extension tube get stripped?

I cannot get the roll pin that holds the crank gear into the upper assembly out. Any tips?

Hi! Thank You So Much for posting these videos. I am trying to repair a 1994 Coleman Fleetwood Pioneer Cheasapeak. The crank lift raises the roof, but recently when I go to put the roof down the crank sounds like it's griding, and hard clicks. Any thoughts on what I might try? Any help is appreciated.

What did you use to knock out the roll pin? I'm having trouble finding something strong enough to get it out. Everything small enough to potentially move the pin has bent.
I had plans to take the family camping tomorrow, I hope I can get this pin out.

I use a 3/16th punch pin. Mine is only 5" long and I would suggest a longer one.

Hey Coleman Guy!! Thanks for all your videos! It makes a huge difference to see this happening, as opposed to just reading about it. We are having this same problem with our camper, so going to try to get hubby on the project. Something I noticed is that our camper doesn't make the clicking noise when going up or down. It does raise and lower just fine, but has to be propped in place once the roof is raised all the way. Do you any idea why ours doesn't click?

I reuse the pins, but they are really cheap at the hardware store.

Thank you for posting this video. We just purchased our first camper; a 1997 Coleman/Fleetwood Yukon. As a new camper owner, this really helps me understand how the lift system functions and needs to be maintained. Two quick questions for you; what kind of grease did you use on the Wiffle tree? Also, what dry lube did you use for the chain?

Man! Your videos are awesome! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
I'm working on disassembling the crank mechanism on my 2011 E1 just to inspect everything and try to suss out some slipping I'm getting while lowering. When you punch out that roll pin in the tube is it ok to reinstall it or should I buy a new one?

They don't make them easy to fix, (or maintain,) do they?

    • @colemanguy4332
      @colemanguy4332  8 років тому +1

Not the waist level lift systems, no. But the bumper ones are easy and simple.

LOL. The Coleman were great campers. No need for special support arms since the door would keep the roof up. Sorry you don't like them.
