    Really appreciate your videos in that the lighting and close up views are so important. Some guys have the carb at a distance and their hands block the very thing they're explaining as they install it. Great stuff thank you!

    Awesome video as always. You do a great job when explaining how to rebuild a carburetor and make it easy to follow along and understand what you are doing. I have rebuilt a few Quadrajets and it still amazes me the amount of parts inside one. Keep up the good work. See you one of these days.

    Question:
    After some research, I found th at the last digit of the quadrajet ID would indicate whether is was intended for a manual or auto transmission (even = auto, odd = manual) so what I would like to know is if the was any “major” difference in the carburetor itself for the auto or manual setup? Such as extra ports or vacuum?
    Any advice would be beneficial.
    I love your videos btw and you’ve got me confident to now rebuild my own quadrajet.

      That’s an excellent question and-AFAIK-the only difference would be that the throttle arm of the auto trans carb would have a provision for the auto trans kick down or downshift cable.
      So, you could use a Quadrajet from an auto transmission car on one with a manual trans, but not the other way around (unless it is converted by installing the right throttle shaft).
      I am not sure if there would be a difference of jet sizes. I doubt it. But if there is it would probably be insignificant.
      Good luck with the rebuild, and thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

    When I was adjusting my air valves tension, the rear of the valves were getting stuck on the back of the air horn opening. There is back and forth movement of the shaft. Is that play caused by the plastic cam being worn or is it the shaft of air horn wear?
    I've read some people have recommended filing the back of the air doors or the opening to get relief. What do you think?

    • @76vette
      @76vette  Рік тому

      The only function of the plastic cam is to open and close the secondary metering rods. If your secondary air valve shaft has that much play, it could be caused by a worn out air horn which AFAIK is rare. I would remove the shaft and inspect and/or replace if necessary. Good luck! 😊👍🏻

      @@76vette My go to guy for Quadrajets, is Cliff's Performance. He literally wrote the book on Quadrajets.
      His name is Cliff Rugles and specializes to the extent, you mention a Quadrajet by number and he'll tell what the application is and their respective attributes. His kits are specific for each number instead of a general fits all generic.
