The flying drones with cameras that enabled the beautiful aerial cinematograph were manipulated by experts including Ms. Shiraishi. She is a member of team Japan for World Drone Racing Championship. As you may know Western (American) Kami Band played in the girls' back. They have supported BABYMETAL's 2023 world tour and this year as well. Although I have only been a fan since 2019, this is the first song where the choreography really grabbed my attention, especially at the beginning of the song. I have now seen this performed twice and I love it more every time.
Great reaction and I have to agree, this is, for me, right up there among their very best - but don't dismiss all of their older work just yet - you will go back and enjoy the songs you've already heard and you will find plenty more gems among the many songs you haven't heard. This is probably the slowest tempo song you've heard so far, you still haven't heard some of their earlier slower songs. They have their faster, more upbeat fun songs and some others that are deep and meaningful. Some that will hit you in the feels, others will have you wanting to get up and jump around ... you already have some idea of how different each song can be. Also, much as I love this song and Su-metal's incredible vocals, I still think her best vocal performance (certainly one of her very best) to date is in 'Shine' at Legend M in 2019. 'Shine is the second song in the Trilogy of Lights after 'Starlight' and before 'Arkadia' ... I really want you to see those (live performances of course) songs soon. Before that, since you clearly love 'Monochrome, there are two more versions for you to see next I think - the official lyric video (so that as well as how it sounds - live audio is best of course, but the studio audio is also very good for this song - you can understand some of the meaning behind it too, pay attention to the visuals in that video as well) and then to really appreciate the purity of the vocals watch the piano version on The First Take.
I'm a recent fan (less than a year) and I wouldn't be as much of one as I am if they hadn't released The Other One. I love loads of their earlier songs, and Yui's performances, but the new reincarnation of Babymetal is the peak of their powers in terms of their live performances to me because I don't have any nostalgia for them from ten years ago.
This was certainly a virtuoso performance of my personal favorite song but... if you skip the older stuff you will miss some masterpieces. Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischief of the Metal Gods intro), Akatsuki (particularly the unfinished version), From Dusk Til Dawn (when you realize Su is singing at the start of the song)... sure, they're not being sung by a 27 year old woman but she is just so wonderful.
For me their first album and their latest album is night & day. To me its like they're a different band but thats the beauty!! Those little girls from sakura gakuine have grown into the metal queens they are today!

You should check out "Tales of The Destinies" and "The One" from the Tokyo Dome. Originally one song, they were split early in the writing process and are absolutely epic together.
I think if you enjoyed this two other live performances you'd get a kick out of would be Brand New Day and From Dusk Till Dawn (both from Nippon Budokan in 2021).

Hell yeah man, Monochrome is absolutely one of my favorites, and the Pia Arena performance in Apr 2023 is absolutely stunning. It was also ~9.5 years after their Official video for Gimme Chocolate, so the child-like cuteness is replaced by an elegant and mature adorableness. You will probably like “Light and Darkness” from the same show (Pia Arena MM, 2023). That song has a heavier vocal emphasis. 🤘🦊

I find it impossible to pick a favourite BM song because there are performances of songs that stand out more than others, but the usual rule of thumb is the song I’m listening to at the time is my favourite. Can I suggest a live version of Kagerou (with the Kami intro) if you prefer the more mature sound. I’ve listened to these ladies long enough to like virtually their whole catalogue, with a few exceptions (parts of Metal Galaxy) so I really enjoy the fun and silly aspects of their earlier works but appreciate the growth and dare they showed in their later albums. I also hold a real soft spot for the original line up but give full kudos to the reborn BabyMetal. They’ve never been more polished, nor more synchronised. Can’t wait to see where they head next but it’ll be a fun ride regardless.
Actually the performance of Headbanger you watched was recent, just a few months before this performance. As others have mentioned, old or new, there is a huge variation in Babymetal songs. That said this is one of their more mainstream, pop rock songs and is very popular. Similar older songs would be something like Shine, From Dusk til Dawn, Brand New Day, Kagerou, Syncopation. There are so many good songs that are similar to this in terms of being more rock and less metal.
No doubt someone mentioned it already. Don't overlook their older stuff. The first album really is better than their most recent. Megitsune. Headbanger. Rondo of nightmare. Those 3 songs alone are better than the newest album. And this is coming from a huge babymetal fan who has all the physical media from them.
Yes this todays Babymetal with Kami Band West, zheir dancing has improved significantly , ireally helps if you have to teach other dancers especially if they are good dancers. And Momo Metal messed slightly up. This was her first Day as a real metal, so she was used to hold a distance from Su bit she doesn't accept a distance from a metal, this is her sister. For Su this is serious. For Moa this is more usual. She was used to teach her Vabymetal dances while now she Teiches her other stuff, like bring unpredictable. Jobs and Himiko learned the hard way that she reads her audience. And Momoko is already deep into their audience interaction game zhat they improve at their smaller venues.they more or less fine tune their audiences so that they react exactly as the general wants. And with their Collabs they opened a whole new Ball game.
Too early to settle with Monochrome as your best BM song heard and seen so far until you went through most or all in their catalog. However, it is understandable to be amazed by this song. Looking forward to more reactions from you.

I agree with the sentiment of the requests for BND, but we are two months out from LMM version, and potentially maybe even getting a live music video of it with Polyphia from FOX Fest this month.
Nope the old Kami Band was more or less or we could say they quite. It should have been clear to them that they will no longer be asked aftervthey tried to insult Su in an interview. And the stage director Suzuka Nakamoto wont tolerate this.

Actually the performance of Headbanger you watched was recent, just a few months before this performance. As others have mentioned, old or new, there is a huge variation in Babymetal songs. That said this is one of their more mainstream, pop rock songs and is very popular. Similar older songs would be something like Shine, From Dusk til Dawn, Brand New Day, Kagerou, Syncopation. There are so many good songs that are similar to this in terms of being more rock and less metal.
Also I think if you like this you will like most of the latest album.

No doubt someone mentioned it already. Don't overlook their older stuff. The first album really is better than their most recent. Megitsune. Headbanger. Rondo of nightmare. Those 3 songs alone are better than the newest album. And this is coming from a huge babymetal fan who has all the physical media from them.
Yes this todays Babymetal with Kami Band West, zheir dancing has improved significantly , ireally helps if you have to teach other dancers especially if they are good dancers. And Momo Metal messed slightly up. This was her first Day as a real metal, so she was used to hold a distance from Su bit she doesn't accept a distance from a metal, this is her sister. For Su this is serious. For Moa this is more usual. She was used to teach her Vabymetal dances while now she Teiches her other stuff, like bring unpredictable. Jobs and Himiko learned the hard way that she reads her audience. And Momoko is already deep into their audience interaction game zhat they improve at their smaller venues.they more or less fine tune their audiences so that they react exactly as the general wants. And with their Collabs they opened a whole new Ball game.
Yeah I think they have gone past the cute metal thing recently. They are beautiful now
The older stuff, listen to them from the recent concert. 26 year old Suzuka singing for example Megitsune sounds soooo much better.

Too early to settle with Monochrome as your best BM song heard and seen so far until you went through most or all in their catalog. However, it is understandable to be amazed by this song. Looking forward to more reactions from you.

Nope the old Kami Band was more or less or we could say they quite. It should have been clear to them that they will no longer be asked aftervthey tried to insult Su in an interview. And the stage director Suzuka Nakamoto wont tolerate this.
