I dont get how there is any tolerance for dumping sewerage in the rivers when planning wont let chicken sheds be put up near another because of nitrate leaching into the watercourses.
The water companies have more money to give to politicians than chicken farmers.

From my experience of dealing with surcharges affecting rivers etc. is a problem caused by development and home owners connecting surface water drainage to the sewerage system rather than using soakaway. Sewerage undertakers often object to planning permission being granted for new development as existing sewerage systems have insufficient capacity with developers not funding the needed capacity upgrade needed. Insufficient capacity results in surcharges, so it is not the fault of the water company.

Why are you there? Well, because I have permission to be here? But as a shooter and a dog walker (well, my BFF sprocker died at 15, just before Xmas so not so much walking now ... and I miss him so much). Anyway, walking the dog, I am on someone else's land, I have zero permission to do that, I might be on a path, or on the ride which are quite wide around here. I need to show some respect, and not be an entitled idiot. I would never cut across the crop for a shortcut? They do shoot the land in question on occasion, I wouldn't go if we heard shots? But some people? .... When their "right to roam" is removed because of self entitlement, it will be returned eventually with legislation, will need permission from the land owner, follow rules, have a licence and a map of the boundary. It has started with dog walking fields? Several around us? They will regret that. It's self destructive. Rant over.
Estuary wild fowling with tidal rivers on the wash? Muddy and very cold most of the year. Look at those dogs, pure happiness!

I'm a chairman of a sewer authority in Pennsylvania. With situations like this get hands on the permit and what they are allowed for discharge. Then for the renewal or if it has not been updated in a long time. make reports to the agency that issues the discharge permits, make comments due to any high discharge event. Either over permitted flow or other requirements of the permit. Also, what they are testing for. Then who is bringing in the waste and what type of waste. Are they bringing in oil and gas wastewater, septic system waste or from other plants. At this time, I cannot see why a plant would be permitted to discharge raw sewage unless it is still on a system that takes stormwater. Even here in the US we are separating that flow of water from sewer plants. For something to look at try the Chesapeake Bay cleanup plan. Binghamton NY along with Scranton PA have both started separating the stormwater and sewer lines 20 years ago. The interesting thing, testing in 2025 in the fall is the goal to meet after 20 years. Still with all the upgrades to sewer plants at close to 2 billion dollars the sewer sector has out preformed the goals set back almost 10 years ago. Now I still do not see the goal being meet.
Much of the UK sewer system is still based on the old Victorian era combined (foul and rainwater) system. There are various overflows in the system that discharge under storm conditions. However due to expansion of the system over the last 100 years, plus far more impermeable ground (new housing, new roads, gardens paved over etc.), plus wetter weather, these overflows are operating almost permanently.
This used to be a public utility, but the water companies were privatised around 30 years ago. At that point the utilities had about £1.5 billion capital. They are now around £68 billion in debt, with around £69 billion paid out in dividends to shareholders. Go figure….

You cant blame southern water while the government has a channel border that might as well be a landbridge with a welcome mat on it the population is increasing exponentially faster than the infrastructure can be improved to cope with it!

A good way to reload them , Remington loaded much and loads industry 8bore for use in cleaning furnace ovens with special industry guns . Some buddies of me bought 1*fired plastic Brass that way for reload in their own guns from industry Corporation like that.

I’m sorry I just need to clarify… Are the dog walkers walking in on private land that they don’t have permission to enter on? As a hunter and a dog owner, I’d never trespass like that. First out of respect to the owner, but also for your dogs wellbeing.

Seems like some tv presenters need to learn definitions more thorough, and use logic and not emotions on their writings, think, write, enter , if it is around the ither way first. Stop and rethink first before one write more.
