The holidays are fast approaching which means... time to get crafty and make ornaments! You're used to my sewn felt ornaments, but I've discovered a new obsession! Risking my life burning clay to make them look like cookies! Woo!

For those of you who want a similar effect without the danger of burning clay, you can brush your pieces with brown pastels!

Since over-baking can cause the clay to be brittle, people use chalk pastels to add the golden brown cookie coloring! Shave some off and brush it on with a fluffy brush.
I'm not sure if you pointed out later in the video, but the cookie cutters are not food-safe anymore! If you use anything for polymer clay don't use it for cooking!
the yoshi and eggs are so cute! we have a mario star as our tree topper and i might have to steal the idea, add some powerup mushrooms/items too they’re small enough to make for some good filler given we dont have to many ornaments at the moment
instead of burning your clay, brushing the edges with chalk pastels and then sealing it could give a similar effect
B-but I like to live life on the edge! 🥺
People who can’t bake their clay could use chalk pastel dust to give air dry “cookies” a similar appearance. 🥰

The hint to dripping icing looking realistic is that the icing drips toward the edge of the cookie rather down directionally based on how the character is ☺️
Stares at my felt ornaments, I don't need a new hobby, I don't need it... Aahh this is fantastic and makes me wanna try a new hobby out to see what I can make for Christmas gifts. I'm a huge fan of home made gifts for my family and friends it's just more fun than buying a random gift they might never use

When im baking clay i bake it at 275 for 5 minutes. Doesnt burn or crack. Just looks like how it went in but cools off hard

This year I cut 2 disks of wood from the bottom of our Christmas tree to make ornaments. My kiddos are into Kirby and Sonic atm so I followed your designs here but with felt details which I think you did last year, So I kinda blended 2 of your videos into one. Thank you
Just one tip for newbies to polymer clay - any tools you use with clay (cookie cutters/baking tray etc) keep as clay tools and don't use them for food afterwards!
you placing the clay pieces down is such an asset moment. also what brush or bushes are you using. Oh before I forget you did an amazing job on these. good idea to burn the clay for cookie effect.

I know this is probably obvious, but don’t use the same cookie cutter as you used on these for actual cookies or you could potentially poison yourself or others. Even if washed the chance that you missed some is not worth it.

I like to roll the clay out and cut it on a flat ceramic tile so you don't have to lift them to a tray and risk pulling the piece put of shape - just shove the whole thing in the oven! 😁

Maybe I missed hearing it. How long do we bake the clay to burn it to look like a cookie? I love all of the ones you made, but always partial to Ghibli things and Animal Crossing stuff!
if using a heat gun/hair dryer to warm up oven bake clay, make sure to keep it minimal and/or constantly moving otherwise youll end up curing/hardening a small layer on the outside!
