Surprised to see you getting a lesson instead of feeling it out on your own, but it's definitely the best way with pottery, throwing is not easy without a good basic knowledge of the techniques. It's really fun once you get the hang of it!
I’ve seen UA-cam videos of people trying it out on their own with no direct guidance and it makes me cringe a bit. Just like, sorry y’all, but good luck 😂
As someone who has done pottery/ceramics, it's definitely not something you dive into feet first and expect good results. If you don't get all the air bubbles out of the clay, it can explode in the bisque firing. Not to mention you have to be careful with some glazes and what you're going to using your piece for. The oils on your hands can cause certain glazes to not what to stick to the piece and Raku glazes/clay contain lead. You also have to account for shrinkage as your piece dries and that glazes change color during the second firing. That being said, I'm surprised he got a lesson as well (remembers the time Jazza tried to pour soap without doing research).
@@greenliongirl07 yeah there is a lot to consider, I have a home pottery studio, I learned at Uni and have taught myself a lot. I’m taking a ceramics course this semester and I can relate to Jazza’s experience with throwing. Right down to saying “I can fix it I can fix it!” When something goes wrong 😂. I also relate to the joy he must have felt in making his first projects!
He seems like such a good teacher! This was amazing to see. And as much fun as seeing you struggle with a new medium is, this one was really educational, I feel!

watching this brought back the pottery lessons I learned last year and I definitely did all the beginner mistakes that Jazza made except throwing 3 pounds of clay on the wheel. I plan to make more pottery as soon as possible because there's nothing like eating porridge out of the bowl you made.
Watching Jazza make pots took me back to high school with my experience making pots being remarkably similar, haha! The clay wobbling around, the giant mess, the helpless feeling as the pot becomes worse and worse the more you try to fix it until you just give up...all part of the beautiful pottery experience!

Thanks you and your Team for these awesome videos :3
Does anyone else detect a little Korg inflections on Peter’s voice? Not the accent but the way he structures his sentences and how he flicks his pitch up when he ends sentences? It is so amazingly comforting for a teacher to have that type of voice and calm inquisitiveness to their voice. Very wholesome and what a great teacher he is.
