It was always my headcanon that Sutherland voices Venom and Hayter voices Big Boss
Keep the Prologue as is (as a way to fool Venom & the player) then on mission 46, Ishmael becomes Hayter.
Love how zero went to all the trouble of cloning boss when all he had to do was hypnotize a badass rando
Honestly, if they had revealed David's voice just in the Truth chapter, they could have avoided the backlash and it would have been an amazing reveal.
Such a shame David wasn't involved with this game, I grew up with his voice as one of my heroes, he conveyed so much emotion in a character made up of polygons and no eyes! His range is fantastic and brings me to tears every time I replay MGS1 unparalleled performance by David Hayter and the entire cast for that game. Even though The Phantom Pain had so little dialogue I feel it would have been better received if David had voiced Big Boss.
Would have been such a nice little surprise to hear Hayter's voice for the actual Big Boss. For all his attention to detail, Kojima definitely made a bad decision this time
Kiefer wouldn’t of been so bad if the only things he said weren’t just “speak” and “where are the others?”
It would have been way too obvious from the start that Venom was a different person if Hayter did those bits.

Been saying this for 5 years, the ending of Phantom Pain would have been 1000 better if David would have voiced Big Boss in the last mission, that would have been the perfect way to reveal the twist.

i can maybe, maayyybe understand not using david for the start of the game to avoid spoiling the twist, but i cannot understand why they wouldnt have david voice boss during the flashback/replay reveal in chapter 2. they straight up change what you initially saw, so why not also change ishmael's voice too?
It feels so natural that I forgot for a moment that we were looking some sort of novelty editing.
I’m gonna really miss Metal Gear Solid man 😕
