"Modify your expectations" ... I love that. You're never going to get everything you want, it's about compromise and collaboration. Being stubborn usually gets you nowhere fast. - Jay Thomas
Even if you have the money to self finance a film, it's intelligent to take on constructive criticism. Case in point Jenifer Lopez's latest self financed film where she surrounded her self with yes people. Same with George Lucas on the Staw Wars prequel trilogy. In the original trilogy, many people helped amend George's script which made it more watchable.
No matter what decision you make or action you take in your adult life, compromise is going to be part of it whether you realize it or not. Just try to use it as a strength
Interesting clip, I’d say his wife didn’t modify her expectations she was opened up to different possibilities, after all everything we experience is unique😊
There's compromise, then there's outright lying to your fans and the fans of an IP. Still waiting for that apology to Clownfish. They offered you a way where you didn't have to compromise, just honest. But you lied for months until the He-man show hit the streets then everyone realised you lied.
@plaidchuck so if I talk about CNN it means I know them personally. Crispy. The guy is a shill just to put it lightly. He flushed his decades of credibility down the loo because the studios relied on his street cred to pass their agenda. People might have respected him more if he came out frank about it, but he shilled hard, so hard he couldn't hold his tears back.
I agree with Smith about just being into the stuff that interests you regardless of others opinions. However that model was fine when the studios and actors just did their job and didn't spew their entire thought process onto social media. They scream their agenda from the rooftops now and call their fanbases all the ists and phobes under the sun, before the project even hits the screens! Hell most of em feel it's their moral obligation to lecture the audience on whatever nonsense is in their heads just because they have a platform? With so much agenda in everything nowadays, of course the audience is gonna latch onto critics who will inform them of what a project has at it's heart before they waste cash seeing it. It's such a pity that the normies are even going there but still get stuck with mouthpiece sites like IMDB or Rotten Tomatos. Surprised a professional like Micheal goes to those sites when there are so many more honest outlets to hit up. Great talk 👍
@@plaidchuckWho mentioned woke? That term is so overused it has become meaningless anyway. The paying customer may have preferences. Is there any evidence of Kevin Smith ever getting better? Has he made anything worth watching in the past 20 years? I'll bet nobody can name his last film. And it wasn't Yoga Hosers.
All of his stuff is insightful. But he tapered off probably around Red State. I think his last film was jay and silent bob revisited. And there was a horror movie with Jericho. Both of which i haven't seen, mainly because of distribution and some disappointment with his connection to Weinstein, not that I blame Kevin.

In other words if you have the money for an entire film? You can adhere to your vision. If you need somebody else's money? Compromise.

@@hubey Up to a point, yes. I think Smith goes way beyond that point. He's tired and blase. Is that really a bad thing? I don't know.
Is it weird that Kevin looks healthier than ever as an older man than a younger one?
Losing weight can do that to a person.
Carrying less fat often has that effect.
no, that is how weight loss works
It's because he is.
Sounds like maturity.

Love the channel Michael!
Tusk is the most alive movie in years. I think it's Kev's best screenplay, because he wasn't reaching from himself, he was telling a story.
Did you know that the subscribe button flashes when Kevin says "I don't subscribe to that"? Click on 1:46 and see.
Wow it does!
“If you bend, that’s when they get ya” 😂
I fund my own movies still. No need for compromise unless an actor or camera dept has a cool idea.
