Ode to freedom is one of the most beautiful tracks I've heard released for a very, very long time. Just listen to it a few times and you can could see it appearing as an Aria in an opera by Bizet or Puccini - it's transcendent in its majesty with a nod to Tchaikovsky's waltz of the Swans. This music is timeless, people will still be enjoying this long after we're gone.
This really stood out and surprised me on first hearing on album brilliant end track of album.just amazing
Exactly correct! 👍🏻word for word!
Chaikovsky ,,Swan lake,,!
Also Grieg's 'Death of Aase'
A lot has been written about Agnetha's and Frida's voices being in harmony over the years, how it creates a kind of unison effect that's separate from each voice alone. But this song takes that to an entirely new level.
I am eagerly awaiting seeing this epic orchestral score ina movie!
Benny has said this is the last Abba release. Knowing that, I had tears in my eyes listening to this beautiful song. A perfect final track on the final album from Abba. A fitting goodbye.
But he did say if the girls want to do more, they will be happy to do more. It's up to them if they feel like doing more.
Ode to Freedom is haunting and magical. I feel like they should have made it longer, maybe with a key change and stronger ending, but it's just a beautiful piece of music ❤️
The whole album feels like autumn, not only because of their gorgeous music but also because of the lyrics, and the topics included: disappointment, separation, divorce, children, pain, change, growth, the joy of a Christmas day with family, re-encounter, freedom, departure. It’s a perfect closing and something I needed during this difficult times. Now I’m waiting patiently for Peter Jackson’s“Get Back” documentary as a Christmas gift.
I loved the 3 singles straight away, then when the album was released, immediately I loved When You Danced With Me and Bumblebee (absolutely adore that song), but I must admit, I was a little hesitant with the rest of the album. As I listened to it repeatedly over the weekend and then as I worked this week, each and every song is in my head and I began humming along, then ultimately singing along as I learned the words. This album sneaks up on you and for me I fell in love with every track eventually. It is a brilliant album and as a 54 year old life long fan, I am thrilled with it and so very thankful that they reunited for this. It is wonderful to see a younger generation embrace them and appreciate them! Thank you for all of your reviews! Cheers!
Exactly. Every song unfurls into its final form, but it takes a few listens. So great.
This new album is brilliant. To think a bunch of pensioners in their 70's pulled this out if their hat is mind boggling. It goes to show that true talent never fades and should be inspiring to all of us. It's never too late to chase your dreams 🥰
@mark griffiths I just stumbled across videos of their first two songs on an otherwise quiet Friday. Shut Me Down is a very good song. But I Still Have Faith in You had me sobbing with tears of happiness. And just like you said, for a quartet of seventy somethings to create this album, then maybe a 65 year old retiree still has some life in him and can do some great things.
Majestic, Beautiful, Elegant and Sophisticated. If this is their final album, they're going out in style ❤
Yes you're right. Such a good closer to the amazing album!
*AMAZING... REAL ODE TO FREEDOM* Thanks from Ukraine
"Ode to Freedom" (2021)
is an extraordinary ending to what may be ABBA's extraordinary musical and group journey
I believe that the last thing ABBA has done is to be aware of its Legacy and to be faithful to it, to perpetuate it to the new generations
That is why I believe that this new album "Voyage", perhaps the last of ABBA, is a trip to eternity in the history of music.
In particular, I feel that this song is sung by the four of them together from beginning to end, although Frida stands out strongly in the lower tones and Agnetha appears as a beautiful second voice in the treble, the men do the background voices
My best regards to You from
Buenos Aires , Argentina
Love how all 4 are singing in ode to freedom. The men give it a nice bass to this song .
This is a Hauntingly beautiful Masterpiece ♥
The album is amazing.
Such a beautiful song with amazing instrumentation, as always. I am blessed to hear ABBA again.
OfficialCharts: Currently ABBA - Voyage outselling the rest of the Top 40 combined with 118,000 chart sales over the weekend, Voyage will be ABBA’s 10th UK Number 1 album, and their first studio album to top the UK charts in 40 years.
That's absolutely crazy.
If you ask me, it only shows how industralized pop music has become.
"Ode To Freedom" is a good-bye for us from ABBA. 🖐😥 Adeus ABBA, Obrigado pela mús♪ca.
Ode to Freedom, lyrically and musically is a very complex song. One needs to look up at the meaning of the greek word " Ode" to understand where ABBA comes from to make such a beautiful Masterpiece. A goodbye to their fans, a message to the world and and a great closure to one of the best albums of the year.
Ahh it just so tragical that this is the ultimate last melody from ABBA. But so appropriate. They have always been so humble and submissive in spite of their musical success. Tears in my eyes to realize this is the end.
Stunning song stunning album
Thank you very much for sp positive review, you rated this very high at least according to all your reaction and comments. :)
Schweden hat einen sehr guten Geschmack. Abba beherrscht dort die ersten 10 Top Plätze .
Do you actually understand the meaning of Ode to Freedom? This is the wisdom of ABBA telling us In their last song that freedom in this world is fragile and fleeting and if we do not come together and unite in one song we are in danger of losing it all! It is deeply profound. Have you seen the lyrics?
Well... this is a little deeper then a romantic movie
many people have commented about the cinematic feel to this song, and of course they are right. and there is an overpowering feeling of finality. the instrumental bridges between the verses sounds very Star Trek-y to me. at the end of the song, i keep seeing the Enterprise come swooping down and picking them up and warp driving off to the next galaxy in need of healing. it's not a sad song really, more bittersweet (and NO ONE can do bittersweet better than ABBA)
Love this Abba reactions! Maybe you should react to some less known ABBA songs? Like those later ones - Should I laugh or cry, You owe me one, I am the city or the visitors album. I think you may like them. :>
Superb and subtle philosophy. Music reminiscent of Holst for it's outer-space feel. If you like the lyrics, check out "Anthem" from "Chess" - a similarly subtle take on patritotism as this is on freedom.
Could you please give your reaction to the new Blind Channel song „We Are No Saints“ (They represented Finland at this year’s Eurovision)?
Heey Noosh, would you like to react to A Little Greener by Jeangu Macrooy. It’s his first single after Eurovision and it’s such a fun and chill song (the music video is very nice too)☺️😁
:))
