- In this film breakdown, we take a look at New York Jets CB Sauce Gardner, who I think is the best cornerback in the NFL, and probably has been since he entered the league last year. He ranks near the very top of the league in every valuable cornerback stat, with only one real hole in his game, that I think is keeping him from being the undisputed top dog.

He has a 84 passer rating while having not a single interception and only like 8 pbus
@@CaptainKnuckles816passer rating is a buns stat. U can easily get a 84 passer rating with only 100 yards passing and that’s the case with sauce. Everybody that faces him throws underneath and gets their 3-5 yards and their completion. Once he gets his 1 int that 84 PR drops down drastically.
I'd take Deron bland, Jaylon Johnson, Brandon Stephens, and Sneed over him though. He's not an open field tackler like these guys are and he plays in a weak ass division.

Sauce just has insane awareness. You see it the way he recognizes cuts practically instantaneously and in a ton of late breakups where he gets his hand in the perfect spot. Even his handplay that he "gets away with", his hand placement always looks very intentional.
Speaking of corners covering with their arms at their sides - it's kind of crazy how many press man coverage reps you can find of Revis covering perfectly with minimal hand-fighting down the field. He was great at hand-fighting and IIRC had the same reputation of being handsy, but it's amazing how good he was at just putting his body in the perfect spot to shield WRs.

It’s his length, make up speed, and feet. He’ll always look awkward but he’s rarely getting cooked bc he’s always within 3 yards at ball release.
Sauce is the best because he’s so natural at it. Every game I’ve seen of Jets my eyes are glued on him. It’s all teach tape of the gods. Really really really wanted to see a Rodgers offense give that Jets D just a biiiiiit of a break but maybe 2024
I remember seeing him play his rookie year and just holding my breath. Cuz as jets fans we can’t have nice things. But after the Green Bay Game it was official amongst all Jet Fandom. Sauce Is H1M.

Excellent video A to Z. Loved every minute of it. I think this answers without a doubt who is the best corner in the NFL to watch when it comes to jamming and getting physical with Recievers. I haven't seen anyone do it like Sauce.
He would be in that complete category like Ramsey if he was a great run defender.
Sauce is a very unique corner with his length and ability to disrupt plays. He’s paving his way for sure
What’s crazy is Sauce and this defense are putting up these numbers with no offensive help. They would be even better with an offense that would put pressure on opponents to take chances and make mistakes. But the Jets play careful offenses that know they just can’t make a mistake and they will win.

Shoutout to DJ Reed and Michael Carter II for being exceptional corners as well for the Jets. Even the backups have played well when called upon. Coaches should be getting looked at as Coordinators off this staff.

I think that touch is on whitehead but also on what looked like Tony Adams. It seems like sauce was supposed to have James cook on the outside but had to switch to try and make a play.

Sauce is the best CB in the league. If you're gonna assign fault on the Shakir play, it's 100% on Sauce. That's Depth and Divider technique. He's playing 60/40 on #2s vertical. He was in good position. He intercepts (or breaks it up in Sauce's case lol) that pass if it's thrown by anyone except Josh Allen

Sauce IS the best CB in NFL. Sauce and DJ are the best duo in the league and it ain’t even close.
He’s one of the best without question. However, he was outplayed last year by Tariq Woolen (Seahawks) and still got defensive rookie of the year because he’s in the biggest market in the country. We shouldn’t keep pumping him up as the best just because of the area in which he plays. Give him his credit but be knowledgeable and fair.
You mean Woolen had more interceptions than Gardner, because that's the only thing he outplayed sauce in. DROY and AP settled this argument. Same argument as Cromatie and Revis.

He’s had a pretty bad season tho. No interceptions, only 10 pds and there’s only 2 more games left. So there is a chance that he makes an all-pro, or pro bowl without a single interception which is bullshit.

Eagles have not played the Broncos this year and AJ Brown has never faced off against PS2 in their NFL professional careers… Brown just gave his opinion but it doesn’t hold much weight since he hasn’t been locked up by Sauce OR Surtain yet because Sauce was in concussion protocol when the Eagles played the Jets and again, the Broncos have not played the Eagles this season.
