- A visa refusal under section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) means the applicant did not establish eligibility for a visa to the satisfaction of the consular officer, as is required under U.S. law, specifically section 291 of the INA. When an applicant is refused under 221(g), it means the consular officer determined that the applicant was not eligible for a visa after completing and executing the visa application and any required interview. It is possible that a consular officer will reconsider a visa application refused under 221(g) at a later date, based on additional information or upon the resolution of administrative processing, and determine that the applicant is eligible. When a consular officer refuses a case under 221(g), she or he will convey to the applicant whether the applicant is required to provide any further documentation or information, or whether the case requires additional administrative processing.

My husband attended the interview in London and received a green paper under immigration and nationality act, and was asked to fill out ds-5535. It’s been 10 days. They asked us to email them instead of submitting on the website so we can’t check the status. They returned his passport too. My husband has 2 passports: uk and Pakistani. Maybe that’s the reason for further background checks. Any advice or idea when we will hear back ?

Hi Thank you for very informative video. My dad diagnosed with stage 4 cancer we got invited from UCLA hospital from California to get a treatment. My dad had the interview on 28th of August and they gave him white paper of g221. The very next day they emailed us asking for 6 month statements of our sponsor. I submitted that document and till now it’s 14th of September we haven’t heard from them. Only thing I know they contacted UCLA hospital on 8th of September to confirm the appointment date. I was wondering how long we need to wait because this was an expedite interview and my dad’s condition is getting worse. Thank you again for the video

I had the interview along with my family, and the passport was drop out at Dropbox,after three days they send mail to my husband, and he answer and mail it back,after fifteen days they send another mail that the process has been terminated, and on the visa status check,it’s refused, and one person really.
Can the principal applicant be refused and the child be ready? Anyway we’re family of five and I’m the principal applicant.

Hello I had my cr1 interview October 2023. The interview went very well the consulate congratulated me and said my case was approved and I will get my passport in 3weeks. It’s been a month now no passport when I tried messaging them they said my case is undergoing administrative process. And I wasn’t asked to submit any additional document.Thou on that day the lady that took my documents said my tax transcript wasn’t uploaded she then took it and scanned it and made her own copy. Could this be the reason for the administrative process? Thou it also an expedited case. Please I need your help

Hello, I had my CR1 interview in November 2023. But my case went to the 221G administrative process due to lack of documents. I sent the missing documents a couple of weeks ago and my case went from rejected to an administrative process, how long should I wait to receive a response? Since the embassy itself does not send an email indicating the waiting time. Please, I need your help.
It normal if withing two weeks. If goes beyond two weeks it will be hard to know when they will be done with administrative processing
Hello sir, I had interview , with Dropbox facility in my case my old passport which was issued 2002 I had us visa on that passport and my date of birth was not correct according to my citizenship now on my new passport has different dates of birth only few months different which I corrected and once interviewer see my old passport in their system he found out date difference old and new passport he gave me pink slip and told me I’m going to run administrative process if I need anything we’ll contact you visa email could you pls advise me what wold be be the result or what I need to do? It will be in administrative processing to check the difference of your dare of birth and is going take take time.

I had aproved (in the the past) more than 6 visas for seamans.But few days ago i was rejected with 221g administrative processing without any explanation.All required documentsand garant letter from company i had but reason for rejection i didn't get. Also i find some statment from official website of the US State Department that said during the last year, 34,03 percent of requests from Montenegro were rejected. I applied for a b1/b2 visa and they required me to send my police certificates back to them via mail, but there is no information about sending my passport along with these required documents. For now do what they ask for if they need a passport they will ask for it
I did my interview on 5th December 2023, i was given the white 221g paper, my medical was missing and after somedays the medical facility send the medical results to the embassy but since then nothing has changed, i filled ds 5535 twice, the first time being after my interview and the second time after 100 days from the interview when I asked the whereabouts of my case.
My wife and kids are US citizens but I'm a Somali citizen.
The embassy kept my Somali passport which will expire on July this year, so my question is, Is it too early to file mandamus writ because I have been waiting to reunite my family since 2015.

I had my B1/B2 interview in Dublin Ireland on 10th May and the visa officer said my visa was approved and he took my passport, I checked same day it shows approved but from the next day it changed to refused and I didn’t receive any 221g form no information or so ever. Is been 7 working days now and is still showing refused. Am a bit worried.

We gave our F31 category interview on 28th November 2023 and the interview officer gave us a form on which it is written that our visa had been refused under a section of 221 g and the officer didn't tell us the reason for the form even though the interview went good , on the form he ticked a box which said that further administrative processing is required and nothing is meeded from our side , and our visa status is showing refused , sir can you kindly clarify that what does it mean and how much time would it take to get out visas , thanks a lot
It go under administration processing and the decision will be made once they are done. There is no time frame for administration processing

Hello sir, I applied for a Cr1 visa. But I am in 221g because my medical exam appointment was planned two days after interview. The interview went well and didn’t ask to see any proof or documentation except for nvc docs. the officer gave me back my passport and asked me to send it back to the consulate after I take my medical exam.
It’s been a week that I sent my passport to the consulate of Casablanca but my case status is still at ready.
I was actually expedite approved by the consulate.

Hi... i had my ir1 visa interview on the 9th of Nov... I was told that all my documents seem to be in order and that they dont need anything furthwr from me, said they will do theor best to approve my visa and i should get an email and get my passport on in 2 to 3 weeks. Got nothing this far... last updates was on the 14 of Nov. I got nothing given to me and they kept all my docs and passworts. Status still shows as refused.

@@Pourquoi_pas1 a lot been happening. Was told in April that I had to redo my medicals through and visa will be issued. Re did medicals on the 29th of April and still no response. Our lawyer sent an email to the consulate about a week ago and they did not respond to him. So we had to write to the senator again. They still have my passport and been over 6 months now. Hello Sir, i got 221g and only two boxes are marked, passport and medical examination. I was asked to submit passport by courier and medical examination was sent directly to the embassy. This the email I got from the consular and I haver sent the PCC how long do you think its going to take to issue visa We have received the documents you sent to us through DHL but according to our records, you are still required to send us Police clearance certificate form Malaysia. Please drop off the original at DHL Collection center.
Unfortunately, we cannot continue processing your case until we have received this document. You should also note that your medical report will be expiring on April 09, 2024, and your visa’s validity is tied to this expiration date.

What does it mean if during the interview they told me I was approved and took my passport, but one month later the case appears as refused? And three days after the refusal appears, they send me an email to pick up the passport that says: 'Our records indicate that your visa document(s) are available for pick up at BOGOTA ASC. My interview went good and the officer told me everything went good and we’re going to work on your visa go to window 6 when I went to window 6 they told me that the clinic did’t send medical exam yet and come after two days they kept my passport and my join sponsor tax and gave me everything back and I came back after two days and the person at the door told me your passport isn’t ready yet when I checked online it says refused for administrative processing but they didn’t tell me anything about that in interview and they didn’t send anything by email what does that mean please help me

I got refused after my interview in Casablanca in 19 mars 2024 and the consuler gived me a white papper 221g with all my papers and pasport back and she told me that my case will send it back to uscis because she think that our marriage is not real .
But thats not the truth because our marriage is reall 💯 and i showed her all the weeding pictures and pictures of all times that my wife came to visite me .

Interview was complete. They took the passport and said you got visa congratulations. It has been 7 days still no word. The status says “refused” even though they have not requested for any additional documents. What does this all mean??

@@usimmigrationhelp7335 in your professional opinion, does this “administrative processing” take more than 20 days before visa is issued? The reason I am asking, interview was in US embassy Ankara, Turkey and Turkish visa is valid for 30 days for each entry into the country. The passport is with embassy. It has been 10 days since entry into the country. The embassy must return the passport within next 20 days otherwise there will be problems with Turkish government.

Hallo sir would like to ask u, my partner working on the ship, and he has C1d visa processing. He do interviewed on 20 march 2024, after he done the interview he got green colour paper and 3 weeks after interview in the website showing refused. We already try to gmail embassy and our ship company but the answer from embassy always same like wait for 2 days business. So how long actually its take time for this case? At the end of the interview, I received an approval from the consul (J1 visa), but it appears to be refused on the website, when I wrote an email to the embassy, they said that my case was in administrative, and about 12 days have passed. @@usimmigrationhelp7335 the status is still refused I had my interview May 22 2023 my Medical’s report was sent later and the consular also ask to upload the w2 tax return of my husband all the information they requested has been submitted three months ago and nothing has been done about my case my visa class is IR1 spousal visa the most annoying part is I started the case since 2019 I only got to interview in May 2023 and I was given 221g forms it frustrating I have submitted what they requested yet they haven’t done anything about my case

My husband interview iR1 is one day ago they gave 221g because they need additional tax document for joint sponsor we upload it on cease the same day how long it take to respond?

Hi Kusum, I m also stuck on same processing idicating that I need to go for further administrative processing for visa decision making. Im DV applicant. I interviewed in 31st may and got administrative processing from officer as refusal letter and return my passport and original docs and told me to wait to hear from Embassy.

Hello sir I was refused on 16th August under 221g visa officer told me to upload updated sevis start date . actually my university starts on 21 august.then next day of my visa interview date I mailed my university regarding i20 they gave me one week extend i20,that is 28th August is my start date.then i send i20 and 221g to the embassy.they haven't given any response for a month.suddenly on September 28th I got mail that "your passport is ready to pickup".then immediately I checked visa status it's showing "Refused".i haven't pickup my passport.What should I do??
