I've been told I mispronounced Knoebels (the K isn't silent), McGowan (Like cow, not go), and Eilidh (Aylee????). English makes no sense anymore.
We park on driveways and drive on parkways. Welcome to the language.
Eilidh sounds (or rather: looks) like an Irish name, so no wonder you mispronounce it.
Well of course, those names aren't English, and I reckon most native speakers would make the same mistakes you did unless they happened to know better.
Can you name multiple guests the same and get multiple iterations of them? A scenario that generated lots of those disaster-causing guests at ~1:46 might be an interesting challenge on certain maps
all three of those are names which don't really have to follow rules at all
Sheridan is "Share-ah-den"
Petition to add the guest name "Marcel Vos" who will immediately leave your park the moment he sees a heartline twister
Or who comments on your ride pricing to tell you how much you can actually charge for tickets.
@@reillywalker195 how much can you actually charge?
"I want to go on mini-corkscrew 87 again!" - Marcel Vos, probably
20 dollars for an umbrella? HOT BUTTERED POPCORN! THAT'S A DEAL!

1:00 iirc chris also went around parks and took tons of photos to use them as game dev material
The real Chris Sawyer likely had the flash pointed away from him when he took pictures
@@toddkes5890 but he's still gotta make peeps, that's where the selfies come into play
@@toddkes5890 I just noticed that. It's funny.
I find it amusing that Mr Bean goes slowly when Rowan Atkinson is a speed freak.
and mr Bean in his Mini is also quite speedy at times
Yeah was the top time on Top Gear’s cheap car for a while
this guy know what his saying! ua-cam.com/video/JOg_smPzq5A/v-deo.html
Nancy Stillwagon: "I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess"
You just know there is a story behind every one of these, that only a few people on this planet know.
Search "David Ellis Raging Bull"
i assume the stat-related ones may have been for testing game systems
Except for Mr Bean, Jaques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, and Damon Hill: quite a few understand those stories.
I can't help but think Felicity is someone they knew that was either stinky or ugly, or both...
John Wardely is a highly respected rollercoaster designer , he designed rides all over the UK and Europe . Most famous for all Alton Towers rollercoasters. Nemesis, oblivion, wicker man , air , all his ideas ! He’s much more than just a random name! He also used to just sit and enjoy rides that people usually scream on and with his arms crossed just say “Wow!” Which is what the Easter egg refers to.
Also he is a cheat in RCT3 but I forget the effect , it’s something like guests have no ride fears .
Apparently it removes height restrictions for rides.
@@Wiimeiser That's a reference to the height restrictions that he's had to overcome in designing rides for Alton Towers.
I've never been to real life rollercoaster but have come back to Rollercoaster Tycoon game from time to time since childhood, I've became more and more interested in visiting real rollercoaster now, maybe Alton Towers in UK even
@@fandorgaming They'll be undoubtedly altered since the game released.
"Hi, welcome to our park! What's your name?"
"Oh, hey, thank you, it's Michael!"
"No it's not."
"Excuse me?"
"I said. No it's not."
"Have fun, Joanne Barton!"
I believe the story around Elissa White was the result of her partner (and now husband), Robb (a well-known name in the coaster enthusiast community) offering consulting for Chris Sawyer. Supposedly Sawyer offered Robb the opportunity to be a peep in the game, but he gave it to Elissa, who did in fact love Intamin rides. I used to know them many years ago and even went to a few events they hosted at parks back in the day. As a side note, Phoenix at Knoebel's, as well as Balder (an Intamin ride in Sweden) are among my favourite woodies
balder being one of very few intamin prefabs
I am really glad Robb himself isn't in this game. He's genuinely a douchebag.
Robb - who used to be a games designer decades ago - gave Chris the idea for RCT. At the time, Elissa was well known for her love for Intamin rides. They've both become very well known - and very controversial - figures in the enthusiast community.
@@DavidHHH99Yeah, about that.
OpenRCT should add in the name cheat "Marcel Vos", when that guest rides a coaster it's stats go up. :p
nah, give the guest a thought saying "Hello, and welcome to another roller coaster!"
When he rides the Heartline Twist it becomes the best coaster
@@Willie_Pete_Was_Here Or rather leqves the ride with only 32 happiness.
Or when the guest enters a hedge maze they can never find the exit.
Nah, I'd much rather have him look at the screen and think "This park is cool"
I literally awwwed at Chris Sawyer taking pics of your park, that's so cute
Somebody pointed out that Mr. Bean being slow doesn't make sense as he drove his Mini like crazy (even his actor drives like crazy because he's nearly totaled a certain center-seated hypercar three times)
David Ellis has a collection of analog PoV videos of various rides, particularly Raging Bull where he says "And here we are on Raging Bull." which is also where the Twister Coaster's lift-hill sound comes from, as well as the Wildcat having the sound for Wooden Coaster lift-hills
Fun fact! said Hypercar can't really be totaled as the current market price is so high that the car could pretty much be reconstructed from scratch for cheaper than it's market price.
Rowan Atkinson was top 5 for Top Gear’s star in a reasonably priced car (I think the Suzuki)
Also, I think you can hear Chris Sawyer's voice in one of David Ellis videos.
@@LucaAndreaRossi Yes. If I remember correctly, that was in David's Dania Beach Hurricane video. He and Chris are friends.
I like that none of you mentioned the automobile from a British make that shares its name with a popular racing series
Should have an easter egg where if you rename your park to Action Park (real life infamous park in the US), your rides crash often.
You don't need to change your park name to have rides crash often (Never using brakes intensifies)
traction park
Class-Action Park
Renaming your Park Action Park should cause your research team to develop the vertical loop for waterslides.
Edit: renaming your Park Sea Lion Park should make your research team develop a fully-circular, small loop for your looping coasters, too.
Would it come with free teeth embedded in the roof of the waterslide?
It's funny how Damon Hill is faster than Michal Schumacher when, at the time of the release of the original game, Schumacher had already won 2 of his titles while Damon Hill still only had his 1 haha
It’s fair to say that us brits had a habit of hyping Damon up to being on The Michael’s level.
I mean, the fact Damon only started racing cars in his 20’s shows he was actually really bloody good, but in terms of what he actually achieved? It’s comparing one of the weakest WDCs to one of the all time greatest
You'd think they'd have gone with Mansell as the fastest given he's the only man to ever hold the F1 and Indy title simultaneously even if only for a week
Yeah it's like, I knew Chris Sawyer was British, but not so British he'd claim Damon Hill is better than Schumi
Even in Rollercoaster Tycoon there is British Bias towards British F1 drivers.
@@OnionChoppingNinja Not hard when Schumacher is a dirty cheat that ran into both Hill and Villenuive to try and win the championships.
A video about guest thoughts would be cool, like what thoughts guests can have, what exactly causes each one of them and if they influence anything in the game
Here’s a small preview of that which shows the priority of thoughts at one point: ua-cam.com/video/3ad-w2u8Ayw/v-deo.html
Yes! Especially the one that disappeared with Open RCT2. If you left the window of a certain guest open for to long, the guest would start thinking that someone was looking at them. "I have the strange feeling someone is looking at me". I miss that one...
@@euhm why did they remove it?
@@Josh-jw3go no idea. But I check regularly and it hasn't come back yet.
@@euhm In RCT3 they do that but more. If you click on a guest and look at the window for too long, he or she will say "Is someone watching me?". If you then click on the guest a second time he or she will stop walking and turn to face the camera and then say "What is that little white thing?", referring to the mouse cursor. If you click on their stomachs they will also say "Hehe that tickles" and do a laughing animation, as well as if you do it too many times the guest will then say "Stop bothering me".
lol at Chris putting his ex-girlfriends in his game
If that's what those were, that's freaking awesome
Chris must really hate Felicity Anderson.

I live in Southeastern Pennsylvania and have been to Knoebels many times as a kid. The Phoenix is still probably one of the best wooden coasters Ive ever ridden. Knoebels is a small park and kind of a local PA gem that lots of people dont really know about. So cool to see a little easter egg about something unique and so close to home. Sweet vid
Mean streak used to be fun but steel vengeance is better. I used Mean streak as a chiropractor realignment.
Can’t believe Knoebels was mentioned in the video, the Phoenix is my favorite coaster of all the parks I’ve been to
Haha, I was just thinking about this. Shout out to the food and haunted house at Knobles.
It also plays to the fact Phoenix has regularly won top honors in coaster awards.
the phoenix is hands down my favorite rollercoaster
A guest that causes everyone around them to immediately get sick. That sounds like some sort of biblical rider of the apocalypse, or perhaps some sort of ultra-mega-super-spreader. Or like SpongeBob when he eats a Sundae.
Those troublesome guests could make for a unique challenge in a scenario that randomly generated them
Katherine McGowan - Famine
Mia Sheridan - Pestilence
Eilidh Bell - War
Katie Rodger - Death
@@Bacony_Cakes Felicity anderson - deseases
So growing up I was under the impression that Nancy Stillwagon caused rides to break down more often (there was even a glitchy appearance on rides she rode).
Looking it up again it looks like her magic ice cream abilities are just bugged and she gives ice cream to the coaster cars too, causing them to get glitchy. Somehow this just makes her that much more amusing.
But she still doesnt get Ice Cream herself...
How does that even work? Do the coasters have inventories?
Nancy Stillwagon is an ice cream-granting SCP
@@Pihsrosnec if the cars can hold peeps, then they do in a way have one.
@@jessiejanson1528 That's a good point. Maybe it sets the occupant to the "ice cream" object rather than the "peep" object
"Marcel Vos" looks slightly underwhelmed with Giga Buster's throughput.
I remember coming across an old internet article with these. It was so fun to play around with as a kid.
Knobels in Pennsylvania is awesome. I’ve also had the thought “nice ride but not as good as the Phoenix.”
Try Dollywood if you ever get the chance. I'm from PA but Dollywood wooden coasters are on another level.
May I recommend another PA Wooden Coaster
Ravine Flyer II @ Waldameer (My Homepark)
100% had the same thought. One of the best parks and roller coasters.
Knoebels feels like an RCT park in a lot of ways. The good ways, like free entry/pay per ride, food shaped stalls, etc. Not the charge $20 for toilets and make the rides explode way lol.
I'm so happy to have a comprehensive guide to guest cheat names. I remember as a wee lass googling for cheats and there were ridiculous ones that promised a lot of money or naming a guest Albert Einstein will instantly research everything for free
Worth mentioning that capitalizations don’t matter, which gives you the opportunity to have multiple “Damon Hill”s. While exact same names aren’t allowed, anything with slightly different letter traits allows for some speed demon shenanigans on the Go-Karts
Uh... You mean like he does in giant yellow letters at 0:17?
@@HeelBJC Yes, but I don't think he explicitly mentioned it was possible to use this method to have more than one of each special guest this way
In the case of Melanie Warn, the trick can also be used to reapply the effect to the same guest.
How many multiples can you have? Damon Hill, damon hill, Damon hill, damon Hill?
@@CheapSushi That's entirely dependent on the possible permutations of capital and lowercase letters you can have. Longer names give you more possible permutations.
Given how a few of them screw with your path cleanliness, I would be interested to see challenge scenarios where one of each of the special guests is in the park at all times. (Except maybe the one who immediately wants to leave, I guess.)
I bet katie rodger was an ex-girlfriend of chris sawyer xD
What about the puke-tastic Felicity Anderson?
@@gideonmele1556 smelly classmate
i immediately thought of that too :)
@@gideonmele1556 1992 a book was published by Felicity Anderson - "Choosing a Name for Your Baby". I have a guess on who didnt liked that book
4:02 Knoebels is my favorite park of all time. It's actually pronounced "Ke-no-bulz"
As i only saw the title i thought this was a video with stuf i already knew. But Marcel you litterly blow my mind with all those names. After playing this as a kid (20 years ago) i still learn alot from your channel. Thank you very much for uploading this such great content. I also love the very frequent video uploading, although they are some kind of 'shorts', it's still very enjoyable.
This was my favorite thing to do in the game as a kid.
If your name were an Easter Egg in OpenRCT2, what effect would you want it to have?
Pamela Anderson on angry guests always
@@SupersuMC I think every ride will go extreme for some reasons, actually mutiplying everything by a 1000 when he ride a random ride.
If the makers of Open RCT 2 don't add a Marcel Vos Easter Egg, I am going to be sad. And other unique names should be a cheat option in guest generation.
Could be a patreon goal or something: You give amount x so you get a name cheat for something as harmless as waving or having a certain thought.
Guests named Marcel Vos should get the old maze navigation behavior.
@Luke O'Leilei Poetic justice
I played this game during the 2000's, at the height of Michael Schumacher's racing in F1, and the first easter egg I've found in a game was putting his name in RTC2. Thanks to my uncle that I've found that one out
It actually was an Easter egg to another microprose game around the same time grand prix something came out in 2001 or earlier
Dude I love that there is a direct reference to Knoebels in RCT. I love that place. Very cool
As someone who grew up near Knoebels, the Phoenix is the best roller coaster! It has won way more awards for a longer time than it's wiki says and it's terrifying to take your hands off the lapbar on the bunny hills. I haven't been on it in a long time and I can still remember each turn and hill. Knoebels is also an amazing park with so many classic and new rides, amazing food, free parking and free entrance and you can still pay for rides with ticket books you got 40 years ago. Everyone should go if they can.
Elissa White was the name of the girlfriend of one of the games producers, Robb Alvey. I imagine most of the rest are similar circumstances.
TIL Robb was involved in the making of RCT... I wish I didn't know that tbh
@@thomasxl200 Robb gave Chris the idea for RCT, but wasn't otherwise involved with the game.
The Donald MacRae one feels like something my friends would do to me due to my horrid tendencies to get very lost even with a map in games
Only a Brit would think Damon Hill is faster than Schumacher
I mean he was faster... that one season in 1996 when Williams had an OP car and Schumacher's first Ferrari was a dog of a car.
@@Fry_tag all karts in Go-Karts 1 are the same :p

Whoa. I had heard years ago about the Go-Kart names, but I had no idea there were so many other names and effects! Really cool stuff!
I didn't know a lot of these! Great video as always
A small section of the park with Frances McGowan, an expensive toilet, and an ATM sounds like a money printing machine
Great stuff Marcel! really love your content!
i had no idea about these they’re great - nice video marcel my man
I really need to just play this game already, I have watched all your videos so I am bound to be an expert at it at this point.
Steam and GOG sales of RCT2 is frequent. Take advantage of that
@@Aereto Thanks for the heads up
@@KonaSuba ...or just pirate it. Easy enough
I knew about the go karts names but none of the others. Cool video!
when I had the original RCT1 (no expansions), john mace always got on rides for free. I think he was removed in later ones though.
John Mace is a hoax. Funnily enough, most people actually thought he pays _double_.
You probably won't read this but I was looking for the comment mentioning John Mace and all the other names used in the original RCT1. One of the name cheats I always used was Brad Pitt (unlimited money) and that's what I would name the first person to walk into my park. There were more names that I can't remember but I know they weren't listed here.
Oh wow, that's way more then I expected. Definitely gonna try them
I just started playing RCT again from my childhood (best cereal box game, hands down) on the Classic version and I am LOVING your content! Learning about all the fine details of the game has been so interesting to me. One thing I struggle with in game is overcrowding, is that something you ever considered making a video about? Thanks for the great videos!
As overcrowding goes I'd simply suggest having many pathways (or maybe even using the wall trick to get functional double pathways) and using queue lines to soak up guests. Every guest waiting for a ride is one fewer on the road!
Wow. After being a fan of the game most of my life I still never knew about this Easter egg. Awesome vid Marcel!
The names that changes guests stats are most likely just debug commands for guests.
Dont forget you can name multiple guests using capitalization and it should still work. Chris Sawyer can also have a duplicate Chris sawyer, or ChRiS sAwYeR. Unless they changed it. We used to name everyone Damon hill and watch the crazy go karts.
Your vids are so entertaining and I’ve been watching them for so long and you’re the only UA-cam I watch. Anyway I find these names funny and question who came up with the idea for some of these.
Imagine if OpenRCT2 adds some new ones based on RCT2 YTs and other popular people.
That would be awesome!
You know this game is old when Jacques Villeneuve, Micheal Schumacher and Damon Hill are the most relevant racing names lol
I remember learning "some" of these as a kid. Wow there are so many more!
In RCT1 Deluxe, I believe Emma Garrell didn’t just affect guests, it also affected some of the rides. For example, if she got onto a Looping Roller Coaster, the train cars would change into Suspended Swinging Coaster cars. I don’t know if this happens in RCT2, I just briefly remember it happening once.
You must have misremembered it, then. It doesn’t do that on the original RCT1 either.
@@gymnasiast90 If you tested this, which version did you test it on? The glitch occurred to me in RCT1 Deluxe, which includes the expansions.
I’m sorry if I worded it incorrectly by saying the “original” I meant RCT1 deluxe.
@@benretro On the original CD version with no expansions. But I seriously doubt it will be different on RCT1 Deluxe (my install of that is broken and I can’t be arsed to fix it at this moment). But if you want to test it: I’d love to be surprised.
"Guest 'Marcel Vos' refuses to ride Heartline Twister 1."
he gonna say
I wont ride "name of the heartline twister" - it's a bad coaster type!
Just a quick reference to one of the removed guests, the name of the park Kenobles is pronounced as KUH-no-bls which isn't immediately evident, but as someone who lives near it, I thought I should let you know! Haha
And its named that as that's the last name of the family who owns and operates it
I had no idea David had his own Easter egg in this game. I love his videos!
I thought I would know all of these but there were loads I'd never heard of! I need to try them out now!
I knew most of these but some are new as well, thanks!
So cool that there's a Knoebels reference in RCT 2!
I find Melanie Warn to be the most useful of these. You can add it to multiple guests (or reapply it to the same guest) by changing the capitalization of the letters.
Having lived near and been to Knoebels many times, you actually pronounce the K. That's how they say it in the commercials for the park. The best family park in the USA!
I had no idea this easter egg thing existed. Amazing.
Some of these cheats I knew but others I didn't. Thanks for sharing this info.
Wow, a shout-out to the Phoenix roller coaster in a real computer game! That's quite an honor! I've ridden the coaster myself many times, and it really IS a very good one. (The K in Knoebels is pronounced as part of the name, so it sounds like keh-NO-bools.) :)
Poor Nancy Stillwagon, cursed to give others ice cream but never to enjoy it herself.
It would be interesting if there are any scenario challenges that are only beatable / much easier by using the name Easter Eggs. It would have to be a pretty specific challenge though considering there's more negative bonuses than positive ones.
0:59 I think it's less him being impressed and more that he did infact take many pictures when he travelled to amusement parks around the world for the game
informative as always man
1:57 I noticed that Felicity Anderson got her happiness increased when making other people vomit.
The cheat Michael Schuhmacher just unlocked some childhood memories of watching my older brothers playing RCT1, so thanks for that!
I have family named McGowan and it is Gow like Madame Gou from Daredevil. Love your channel Marcel, keep itup...
Nancy "I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess."
Phoenix is one of the best coasters in the world. It was my first.
Holy cow, this is unbelievably cool. Been playing this game since its release and never new this
'Eilidh' is pronounced AY-lee by the way (rhymes with daily, Bailey, Hayley, etc). It's a Scottish Gaelic name!
Thank you for explaining
I'm shocked I can play a game for nearly 20 years and still be learning brand new information
Love how Marcel listens to suggestions.
I love your content, you have been one of my favourite UA-camr and I love just binge watching your videos and I love them and think that RCT is way better than planet coaster or at least more interesting🙂😀
Wow, there are so much more names than I knew about.
wow, back in the day i remember looking up cheats and found probably 6 of these names, but there are a lot more names than i remember!
Never knew that existed
I do like the effect of these Easter eggs in the game for sure.
Jacques Villeneuve being considered a fast driver really shows when this game came out
I mean, he won the championship. That makes him a faster driver than 99.9999 percent of the planet/average park guests
Wow I would have never known that RCT2 had a reference to one of few parks I've been at in my entire life. I've been to Knoebels so many times with family and friends it always gets me kinda nostalgic whenever it's mentioned.
Dude the knobles refrence made me grin. It's such an unknown park, yet one of my favoritres. They are also credited with the only wooden bobsled (flying turns) in the world.
You should make a video during the middle of a scenario where you name one guest Emma and see how long it takes for your whole park to turn purple
An interesting idea for a video would be one on everything that has been removed from OpenRTC2 and the reasons for removal!
It’s not a lot, actually. It’s mostly stuff related to Six Flags, like:
- Not being able to modify Six Flags rides
- Not being able to save Six Flags rides
- Six Flags parks do not report casualty numbers
- Six Flags rides cannot get brakes failure
- Six Flags branding
And there is the removal of the tutorial, because of the way it was implemented: it’s just recorded mouse clicks and movements. This means it had to be rerecorded for every resolution, had to use either 640×480 or 800×600 and couldn’t cope with interface changes. We would like to have one at some point, but it would need a whole new implementation.
@@gymnasiast90 Oh hello there

Phoenix was my first roller coaster ever! How did I not know it had a mention in RCT2?!
I didn't know these existed, so cool...
Nice video! But not as good as the Phoenix...
As an F1 fan myself, those guests named after some of the great F1 drivers of the time from the 90's, were definitely my favourite ones!😁😎
Think I mostly knew of the RCT1 guest name 'cheats' from a PC Gamer magazine cheat codes book or such, but seems between those ones carried over to RCT2 and a lot more I hadn't been aware of too, with some pretty interesting overall effects given!😮👍

I know an urban legend from back when i was a kid. If you call guest 1 E=mc2 and guest 2 E=mc3, they will talk to each other and make you an offer to advertise for your park. Never got it to work, but always wondered where it came from. Can you make a video of this if you have any info on it, please? Would love to know more about this!
