I remember watching this as a kid and I loved every single second of it. Especially this theme. It's so damn epic. Asterix in general is probably the MVP of my childhood.

lol it's actually modern Irish music meeting 19th century Austrian music meeting. Roman music was worlds apart from the trumpets we all know. Neither did ancient Celtic from Gaul sound like modern Irish
While Mission Cleopatre is more comedic with more memorable qoutes (me and my friends use them on daily bases) this one is definitely more artistic.The soundtrack, costumes, everything. I love how they didn't just recreate comics costumes in live-action but rather tried to make them actually more historically accurate yet you can still cleraly see their comics references.
Sadly the Cleopatra movie started a Trend with its meta references they we're good in that movie but the successors did this way too much without the Talent to make it Work well

Have you any sources for that? Because in fact, Gauls were for majority very interesting by Romanisation, they all wanted to become a Roman citizen after Gauls war. But im always open to learn.

I always found that mission Cleopatra was a way better movie. it was not really true to the comic, but it was a great standalone movie. then you have the Olympic and the Britains on which are just jokes and awful.

This is my childhood. Not to mention this movie did - everything - right, then they added this masterpiece of a soundtrack and you had a movie for the ages.
Of all the live actiom movies i love this one the most. It felt like the one that was the most grounded one with stakes, which made it more exciting, but was still in the spirit of the comics. The costume and set design was also at its best in this movie. Not to mention the fantastic music. The other movies was also fun but as they went on they felt more and more cartoony/goofy with reliance on stuff like pop-culture songs.
I also very much loved Christian Claviers Asterix. Too bad, he didn't stay for the other movies. But I also admired Gottfried Johns Caesar! What a great cast, and how well he potrayed the sublime and elegant imperator. I had (and still have at 30 years old) sooo much fun watching this movie.
Well, Christian Claviers did returned to voice Asterix in the CGI animated film Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion. That's something to uphold for his role in the character.

Modern Czech language, traditions and mythology were basically created from scratch during 18th and 19th century. As for our blood heritage we have strong connection to german and celts (info on wiki).

this movie just sreams FUN. Through the movie, it just seems the actors had a freaking BLAST xD so wanted to be one playing one of those gauls. This scene charging the romans, the "food fight" etc etc. If I were gonna descibe this movie with just one word, it would be "fun" (:

I loved this movie when I was young, despite the tarantula's pool and some other strange things. Roberto Benigni is one of my favourite actors, the character of Detritus was so good. And Caesar was so classy
