      Yes, the Safety issues caused by the Clark Fandom now requires the WNBA to now Charter Flights. Whether or not they can afford that is unknown. Neither the WNBA nor NBA owners have to Open Up their Financial books.

      @@natureredux1957 agreed.
      They will get the money from all the increased ticket sales, tv deals from streaming, and merchandise sales. Most likely from Fever and CC jersey and other items. I know CC's jersey has been sold out.
      Ticket sales has sky rocketed in terms of prices on secondary market and demand. Most teams actually moved to a bigger stadium. Last Fever pre-season (which was a home game) sold 15k tickets which usually only sell 5k.
      This is a pre-season game which doesn't count. Can you imagine what happens during the season and possibly playoffs?

    I think the reason the women's college games were more interesting than the men's is that most players are there for a full college career, so a lot of the games are rematches, there's a rivalry between the actual players, not just the name of the school. It's that way with football but with basketball having so many 1-and-done players, it just feels like a short stop on the way and if they don't really care enough to stay there, why should I? It wasn't just the one player, even though Caitlin was obviously a draw.
    Now that players can get compensation, maybe that will get many of them to stay longer and the men's game could get more exciting, especially if your school isn't in it and you're just a neutral fan

      WNCAA athletes are smarter than NCAA athletes on average. Education matters. Actually going to classes yourself matters.

    • @natureredux1957
      @natureredux1957 10 днів тому

      @@bobbymoss6160 Well the Women might stay longer since the top ones will likely make more while in College while the Reverse will be true for most of the Men. The Women's game is hardly more interesting than the Men just because some folks might LIKE a given player.
      Education via College doesn't always matter since most folks are never employed in their Major after College. However those massive College Debts really do matter. No so much for many of the Sports Players since many have great offers because of just being part of the Sports Athletics World. Which is way different then for Regular Folks.

Looking at the top draft picks, you have 2 from the Midwest, two from the South, one from the Mid-Atlantic Coast, one from the West Coast, one from the Northeast, and all from well-known, popular programs, huge fan bases. One player from Brazil and two from Europe to add the international intrigue.

      An economist has calculated that CC alone will generate an additional $100 million in revenue from increased ticket sales, concessions, merchandise, etc. Try buying a "Standard" (still offered by the venue and not in the resale market) ticket for the July 14th game in Minneapolis vs the Lynx! There's only extreme nosebleed tickets, maybe 600-700 available! They'd have been smart to play that game at US Bank!

    This entire draft class is the reason why people are interested in the WNBA. Angel Reese is the reason I know who any of these players are. My favorite players out of this draft are Nika Muhl and Jacy Sheldon so I’ll definitely be watching their games. Clark is the main attraction but this entire draft class is filled with people with a social media presence and a supportive fan base from college. That’s why the Sparks vs. Storm game sold out with over 16,000 people in the stands. That’s why the WNBA televised the Sky vs. Liberty game after the public outcry when they didn’t air the first game. The Aces scrimmage in South Carolina today also sold out with over 12,000 people in the stands. This draft class was able to effectively leverage NIL deals and social media which I believe is the reason why so many people want to watch them in the WNBA.
