Been playing guitar for just about 2 months now. I can't actually *play* any of these songs you're teaching, but I *can* play *parts* of them -- your videos give me goals to work towards. It's so exciting to see so many of my favorite songs *just* out of my reach -- but only for the moment! A couple months more, and I can envision myself actually *playing* these songs!! Very exciting!!
Best online lesson yet. I have tried other's, they seem to invent different patterns that sound nothing like the song. The cords are easy, a standard used strumming pattern, just a little practice to get it up to the right bpm. Well done.
My God man what an inspiration, I just picked guitar backup after 25 years and found your site so helpful - please keep up the awesome work, subscribed for life.
Shane - you taught me intermediate at Nortel years ago - Blackbird, Dust in the Wind, etc. I didn't have a beard then - feel free to check out a couple I shared on UA-cam. I always talk about how good you were teaching and how you were the right instructor for me getting started, picking up the guitar at 34 :-) You still rock!
Ya’ll saying he needs to play it without saying thank you for the free content... Just play along to the song! Work it out - you got that “big boy” G - so act like it and just do a tiny bit of critical thinking. He even gives you the chart!
Will be checking out your Patreon tonight. Have to say it again....AWESOME. Thanks for creating the best guitar tutorial channel on YT, as far as I’m concerned. Ive been looking for a while. So happy to stumble into you.
Thanks for the easy to follow lessons. For those of us living in a cave without a printer it would be great if at the end you played all the way through and sang at least the start of chorus and verse. I gotta look up the e minor,c,g that seems to be the take it easy part. Then we can all join in,cause that's the gravy.
Dude, after watching this video for 10 seconds, I could see you know how to teach the new comers who want to learn to play the guitar. I've been playing all my life and to be honest figured the intro years ago on my own. :-) Anyway, I love your approach to teaching guitar. Way to go. Subscribed, and will give your link to some I know who want to learn. I will keep watching.
Thanks Robert - glad you enjoyed. Actually, it’s totally fine if your A string is muted while playing the G chord. Mine is muted purposely because it’s the same note as the open B string (one octave apart). All good and nothing to worry about. Cheers, Shane
Awesome, everyone should learn that G pattern 1st before the 4 fingers pattern. Trust this young man. You gonna have to learn it eventually it's a lot easier to learn it 1st then 4 fingers G 2nd.
Thanks Andrew - great suggestion for sure - I actually already did one a couple of years ago but it got banned due to copyright - they even gave me a copyright strike which is really a bad thing on YT. Argh! SHane
Hi Eastside - guitaratwork.ca you will find a 'Download Songsheets' button at the top of the main page. It will take you to a series of folders where you will find many song sheets. Cheers! Shane
I find I’m repeating this and may have said it already but, Fantastic! I so wish you were in the Calgary area( or you wintered down in AZ, something to think about???) for personal lessons. Quick question, I’m trying to get the real fancy intro down, the one with the slides that you show in the song sheets and can’t seem to get the sound or timing(or both), if you ever do a play along for this could you consider adding this part? Thanks again Shane.

Fabulous - have fun with it! Shane
Exactly the way I’ve played the intro for 35+ years! Nicely done!
Wonderful lesson. Took me 2.5 years starting from zero to get to the point I can watch a section of video and then immediately play it.
Love how Shane comes in from a run and shows the world one of the best songs ever written? Casual brilliance.
Thank you Andy - my best to you, Shane
72 and played rhythm guitar vocals and originals with the Great Jerry Miller for six years. Thanks for the refresher
All our videos are the best on the net. Easy to understand and very informative. Other similar lessons are way too much talking. thanks

Shane
Great teachet
Well done, teach!
Thanks Ed - Cheers!
Shane
I agree with the comment below. The third chord is a D7sus4/G. There is no 3rd in the chord, as it was taken over by the 4th. Hence, not minor.
Love your teaching style. Thank you.
Thank you Dan - much appreciated!
Shane

Thanks for spelling out the intro chords. My cheat was close but not quite right.
Thanks for the intro... helped me go from the G major to the D major, playing that song just a bit differently.

Thank you very much. Very Good ,Number One

Thank you C.J. - I appreciate the encouragement and I am very glad to have you with us!
Shane
I believe the strumming starts on the AND after 4. Not on the downbeat of 1. DI duh 2 3 4 DI duh… duh being unaccented 1. What do you think?
Good enough! ✨👌
good lesson, think I'll hit the red button
Glad to hear it - happy to have you with us!

Thank you so much!
Been playing that slightly wrong for over twenty years,😂🤣
Awesome, thank you for all that you do!
Thanks KL - happy to have you here with us!
Shane
Shane, Great job, really enjoy how you break everything down. One ? When I play the G the pad of my ring finger mutes the A string. Why?
Thanks
Thanks Robert - glad you enjoyed. Actually, it’s totally fine if your A string is muted while playing the G chord. Mine is muted purposely because it’s the same note as the open B string (one octave apart). All good and nothing to worry about. Cheers, Shane
Good video. Good job cowboy.

Hi Shane - great lesson, thanks. That Taylor sounds brilliant in your hands. What model is it please?
Thanks David - glad to have you with us - it's a Taylor 814CE
Cheers!
Shane
I dont' understand how the third chord of the intro can be D-7/G since there's no minor third (F).
Can u do a lesson on give a little bit by supertramp
Thanks Andrew - great suggestion for sure - I actually already did one a couple of years ago but it got banned due to copyright - they even gave me a copyright strike which is really a bad thing on YT. Argh!

Hay can you teach Hair of a dog. By Nazareth
Loving these vids Shane. Question... what strings are you using?
Thanks Dave - really appreciate it. I'm using Elixir HD Light on that Taylor - Cheers!
Shane
Just like Glenn Frey (RIP)! And the outro ("take it e-e-e-e-zy") is simply G - G7 - C, with G7 played gbfgbg ceiling to floor.
🚩You mentioned A Sheet? As in the chords? Didn't see anywhere? Is there.?
Pretty sure the chord change in the intro is pushed to the and of 4… but yeah…
Thanks!!
My pleasure Aray - thanks for watching and commenting.
Shane

So a Dm11 is where in the musical spectrum.?
And a big kids is a Rock G in the states, old chap!
great job man--rt to it--no talking for ever--once again great version
tmshaker - bgd thank you for commenting. Glad you enjoyed! Shane
Really hard to play , my thumb terribly aches 🤒
Oky dokely!
Dm11/G...or D7sus4/G?
Agreed - Cheers,
Shane
Is the A string muted on the C/G and C/11?
Thanks Ray - indeed it is. Shouldn't have to work too hard to get that going - just lean your hand over a wee bit. Cheers!
Shane

Thank you Wally - Calgary is a great spot! Always appreciate your encouraging words and thank you for the suggestion!
Shane
Go Flames! Cheers from Ireland.
Wish I had your long digits. That Dmin11 is tough. My ring finger mutes A string, so I'm trying using thumb in its place. Short fingers suck!
Hi James - that is actually a good thing....the A string should be muted in that chord - sorry! I forgot to put an X in the chord diagram.
Shane
Good to hear. I don't actually have the diagram, just watched/listened to you.@@GuitarAtWork
