For everyone concerned about having to replace the whole frame if it gets bent, just read that "Gusset/Plate" welding will make the repaired part as strong as if not stronger than the frame itself. Gusset/plate welding is what they do to strengthen actual bridges

They should have made it at least a 350cc with a long stroke, to give a lot more torque. I found my 250l just too underpowered and this latest version is getting a bit too pricey in my opinion, but at least Honda didn’t repeat the ‘product suicide’ the way of the 450l... “high maintenance, low power, high price... winner!”. Loving your work as always though Mr Flyer.

As an older rider with 40 years of riding experience, I just purchased a little Honda CB300R, and what a sweetheart of a bike! So much fun and so much more than just a "beginner" bike! Same powerplant as in these CRF300s. I am surprised that you have not reviewed it yet, but I hope you do someday. Would love to hear your take! As always, I enjoy all your videos and always look forward to when you review the bike news!

Be aware that the fully welded subframe is causing great concern in the dual-sport and adventure communities. If it becomes bent, we will now need a new frame for the whole motorcycle. This is a weakness, despite the lowering of frame weight.

Dealers here in Thailand rarely give test rides, However, I did sit on the 300L and it felt more purposefuI and light. Good time to grab a 250L cheap.... So we don't get the LED headlight as standard like the Thailand model and the power is down 4 BHP from 31 to 27 ?
I'm guessing Euro 5 is the reason we lost power and hopefully it is just a restriction and not too expensive to remedy. (any info on this?)

    • @peva7945
      @peva7945 4 роки тому

I'm sure I read that part of the Euro 5 requirement is the inability to circumvent the rules, with a fine for the manufacturer if such is made possible. If true then it might at least rid us of the noisy exhaust problem.

@@otablott7779 I can't now find the article I read about tampering, but the bike has to be self monitoring to ensure compliance with the regulations through the expected life of the vehicle, though I gather that the requirement for monitoring of the catalytic converter has been pushed back. Rather than go on at length I refer you to Article 10 of Regulation (EU) No 168/2013 wherein manufacturers are not allowed to produce components that do not conform with the Regulation. This, I believe, prevents manufacturers offering accessory exhausts that do not comply with noise limits. I'm not a legislative expert but no doubt there are others reading this who have more knowledge of things than I and who can give a better explanation of the detail. As we have seen this year, with the bans on motorcycles in various areas on noise grounds, it is commercial suicide for bike makers to encourage the fitment of noisy exhausts and maybe they are beginning to realise this.

    Can you confirm (possible rumours)...
    1. The rear subframe is 1-piece and no longer upgradable/replaceable?
    2. The fuel pump... is it now mechanical?
    3. Is the Rally suspension improved or is it still like a 1-sided spring setup?
I'm leaning towards a CRF for a long-distance ADV build. I'm not sure if I should try to get a 250L or the 300L. More power, good. Mechanical fuel pump, good. Non-replaceable rear subframe, bad... but how bad? Hmmmm. I think the 300L may be a good platform on which to build.

Thanks for the display on these two bikes. How do you think the CRF300 compares to the new Green Machine’s KLX300? I borrowed a friend’s CRF250 last summer and had a hoot, but even an hour’s ride up the river it got pretty uncomfortable and the short bit of highway I had to transfer on, was not a fun experience bringing it up to higher speeds. But I want a smaller displacement for my own dirtier antics so I think the added umph of 300cc will do it. Of course there’s the DR400, but since my carbeurated Concours hydrolock episode screwed me for that dear ol’girl, it’s fuel injection now for me. (Nice showroom you’ve there! Cripes. Your office is really similar, except my RAF is all 1/48th and my wall strung with basses instead🤙🏼🍻)

I'm sure these will sell like hotcakes. Almost every CRF250 review suggests it needs a bit more 'oomph' and this should cure that ask. My only question was about the suspension, but as you didn't mention it, my guess is they have left it alone. That means the front is a bit soft and the back a bit lively, both fairly easily fixed by aftermarket add ons. I have a Rally and love it (although I'm not wild about the lights either), confidence inspiring, multifaceted and robust. Good on Honda for continuing the evolution.

The Husqvarna 250 MX 2019 has traction control. As far as i,m aware. There are 3 modes. The modes are acatived on the left hand and the bike has Marzocchi forks which are standard . So you can give the bike full throttle on the start line bang out the clutch and away. The 2021 150 KTM MX are looking at a really trick gear box . That will wait. Cheers

You memtioned a slimmer seat on the CRF300L, yet a wider one on the Rally.
On my 2017. CRF250L I find the seat a bit too narrow and firm, but I suppose comfort is individual..

If Honda's fuel consumption figures are to be believed @ 32.3 km/L (90 mpg, imperial)
the Rally would already have a tank range of around 250 miles.
