- With Gears 5 now five years old, demand for a new instalment in Microsoft’s beloved third-person shooter franchise has been growing ever louder, and going into the Xbox Games Showcase, leaks had claimed that a new entry would indeed be unveiled.
And sure enough, it was- though not quite the way many would have expected. Rather than announcing Gears 6, at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and The Coalition unveiled Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline instalment in the series that, surprisingly enough, is a prequel to the original trilogy, set fourteen years before the events of the first game.
With that, with Marcus and Dom returning, with the vibes looking very much horror- adjacent, and with the Locust looking scary again, there’s every reason for series fans to be excited. - Ігри

I like it all. The controls on the newer games are way better in my opinion. But I do love the characters in the older games far more. I am really excited for the game tho ciz I'm thinking it will he a combination of both :)
@@sv_1407dl yeh the games are solid, the characters are likeable (though not as good as og trilogy ones) and I honestly enjoyed the open world aspect to gears 5. Only issue I really had with gears 5 is there wasn't much to find in the open world other than cool guns and a few side missions. Jack isn't an enjoyable character but there is del for multi-player. Gears 4 only issue was it also felt a tad short for the campaign. But still very solid games and don't deserve all the hate.
@@sv_1407dlgears 5 was ass, multiplayer unbalanced. Maps were bland on release. It’s a lot better now but on release gears 4 and 5 could not stand with the trilogy . Downfall started with judgement

Let's not forger GoW was a quasi-horror game, noir, dark and heavy. That is why I loved it. 4 and 5 was a joke.
Gears 4 had lots of horror elements. It’s arguably the scariest game in the series.

See the thing about 4 and 5 was continuing a new story later in the series, its not that they weren't scary it's just they didn't have that more horror tone. It was still dark in the aspect of losing family still but I know what your saying, it's hard to recreate the feeling the first time you break into the church to escape the horde in gears 1 just to run into your first berserker. Where getting touched meant insta death 😂
Judgement day was the worst ever.
Kinda scared how they said we are going to see the origins of Marcus and doms friendship.
They were already friends since childhood. Carlos did play a huge role in that and his death is what made their bond with each stronger because neither of them wanted to lose another brother. Them mentioning carlos gives me some relief but i hope that this isnt some "two guys become best friends " story because they were already friends for years.

Yeah I’m also hoping they ain’t gonna do the whole we’re making them more “human” by making them spill their guts out at every inconvenience cause. They may not be locust war vets in this one but they’re still pendulum war vets by this point

Nothing beats that moment, when you boot up the Xbox 360 to the original slide dashboard and see the classic gears of war icon ready to start. I've played gears from the start and will always be one of my favourite games of all time from the amazing experiences I had playing it. I've just turned 30 so I'm ready to experience that nostalgia again!

I'm happy to see a new mainline entry in the gears of war franchise, but i am a bit disappointed that we didn't see a remaster collection of the original trilogy and judgment.
The new Gears has to be a test reboot. If it does better than 4 & 5. It'll be a 3 game series
Hope so, I liked 4 but when I saw the direction in which the franchise was going it was really a turn off for me. The characters were just ok.

If this game is good I wouldn't mind if it acts as a reboot of the franchise. I'm happy to have the original characters, the locust and the gritty setting back.
No, this is a test for the game after 5, not a three series for a prequel, it won’t be logical to make a 3 series prequel when there is still so much story to develop

@@avelinonunez5510 well I’m sure whatever city he was in eday fell rather quickly and since halvo bay was holding a secrete bomb facility it probably became such a high value land mass to protect so I’m sure the cog sent all the forces they could to halvo until that fell.
I’m so glad we get to fight in this. Would be cool to have a dlc where we are fighting the lambent as the locusts too.
Finally gears of war 4 came out after 13 years
I'm glad we're finally get to see what E-day was like for our favorite protagonists and also to see how green they were compared to how we first saw them

I really hope they kinda just ignore gears 4 and 5. Just stick to 3 as the ending and just expand on the lore and have different stories.
5 was an attempt to introduce lazy open-world garbage and woke BS. Glad it failed.
Chances are they're probably putting 6 on the back burner for now until they figure out how to get it right and haven't completely abandoned it. But I could be wrong, I just think that's what's the most likely case.

Yeah, I really only see 6 being good if they do a "split" style campaign at least to account for the players choice at the end of 5. Change up what happens (at least order of locations and context) different dialogue to make each choice feel significantly different. This would also have to make 6 like the last game though as every game would have to implement that kind of system going forward

Gears has lost its roots for a while now and its been sad to see, thius is the first time a lot of people whove loved this series since the very first game are feeling really good about it. not everything has to be for everyone like fuck man, some things can be directed to certain people and in this case it looks like its finally being made for the people whove stuck with this series since its very first iteration

best thing they've ever done . I had only wished they brought the current story to closure so they could explore other lores even going back to the pendulum wars. but im glad they went back to this era with the locust being the heart and center of it all with the 2 best characters in the entire series. this nothing but a love letter to the fans.
Dom made a brief appearance in Gears 5 during a playable flashback during the pendulum war

This game is the sole reason I bought an Xbox after playing it. Thanksgiving 2006 with my cousin who bought it at launch, we played for 8 hours that day. I had 73 kills on clocktower with only the chainsaw. I was hooked. Greatest series ever

Gears one was loved back in 2006, to make this game great they should bring back the same story telling/action of the early 2000s mixed with todays graphics and only slightly improve the mechanics and it’ll get the old heads back into it while showing the new kids exactly WHY gears was unlike any other franchise.

With how Gears 4 and Gears 5 have been, after the 5 years of waiting for something Gears and our expectation of seeing something about Gears 6, I think the announcement of Gears of War E Day is that much sweeter. We are back baby!!!!

Gears definitely a top 3 franchise of mine but the game play is still circa 360 days so I hope they have some good ideas to make it fresh in today’s gaming and game modes.
I think it will be kinda interesting and fun to play a story where Marcus Fenix isn't a huge brute of a locust killer veteran

So hyped for this game can’t wait, glad it’s a prequel and it’s done right this time unlike Judgement, E-Day looks amazing more importantly it’s canonical correct as the mk2 (chainsaw doesn’t exist yet). We’ve got young Dom and Marcus which is what we’ve wanted as a community within Gears! I really want Tai Kaliso to return and as a member of Delta like he is in lore during e-day.

As someone who has been a gears head since 2006, this news has me so hyped. Best announcement i could have got for a gift to me 30th birthday. Gears 5 multiplayer just felt like such noob friendly crap and i have played gears heavy since the first year of gears 5 release because of it. So happy to finally have gears to be excited about again.
Best Time to own a 360 or go to a 360 when Gears Of War was released worldwide. I remember the 24 hour countdown.
Also someone had a really cool idea to have a spinoff game centered around the Carmine Brothers, and another idea to have a game revolve around the Pendulum Wars
Honestly im glad that they decided to go backwards instead of forward for Gears of War. I hope that we eventually get a Pendulum Wars game and maybe a dlc campaign showing how the locust were before E day

Young Marcus was done right, you can see how JD took from his facial features and traits. Makes the newer Gears with the young generation a lot more enjoyable, knowing we get to see how it all starts.
I almost cried when I saw this trailer. This is what we've been waiting for. I just really hope they follow the story that was set in the books and bring back Steve Jablonsky's musical score
I'm glad they are doing this. I know I'm not alone in wanting more Locust War time period games, Gears 4 and 5 do not need to be continued for some time. Theres 17 years worth of war stories to tell (from E-Day to Gears of War 3) so lets get more of that!

I for one am very disappointed we are going back 45 years in story instead of concluding Kate's story which I think Gears 5 set up very well. Don't get the hate. How can they possibly innovate gameplay 45 years in the past, or build mystery when ALL the lore is already out there and explained... Such a strange move by the Coalition

I wonder if Will Carmine will show up, it’s unlikely but a Carmine from the Carmine family that took part in E-day has to appear at some point also I hope to GOD Tai Kaliso will return as well because Marcus, Dom and Tai took part in E-Day and Tai was the one that inspired the Chainsaw Bayonet on the Lancer MK2, Marcus had the idea but Tai was the inspiration

Bro seeing Marcus that vulnerable and being manhandled really shows how battle hardened he was when we first played him in Gears 1, it’s actually kind of sad to see his character development and all that’s happened. We see it as badass but the trailer shows how he feels helpless but won’t give up.

I haven't been interested in GOW since GOW3 don't even care about playing 4 or 5 to me they don't exist. This is the Gears Of War that I grew up with and cherish so much. I will be there on day one to play this beauty.

Horde, classic (Gears 1-3) multiplayer and campaign traits, a carmine character, and good maps for pvp & pve, one bad mfer boss to fight in the game. Maybe include some the black ops type stuff Gears Tactics going on? Could be cool mane.

I’m hoping the campaign ends with the lead up up Marcus going to prison for ignoring orders filling in that missing gap that is semi explained but not to its fullest. My only concern is them trying to use “modern development for the characters”

Hang on a minute, if Judgement is set a few weeks after E-day, give or take. I thought Marcus and Dom were part of Omega squad around that point and they had different looking armour, as seen on their playable characters.
Eh, judgement had some issues when it came to the lore, like the fact Kantus appearing early into the war even though neither of the COG knew about them till gears of war 2. Not only that but the locust using mk2 hammerburst rifles instead of the hammerburst from gears of war 1.
But who knows, maybe that's gonna be Marcus and Dom's squad in E-day
