    And spot on about the perks being something to choose based on play style. That’s always been the point of perks. Rock-paper-scissors perk system is how you balance perks and gameplay styles. I feel like these devs are reinventing the wheel. The wheel has already been perfected. All they need to do is make sure all perks are balanced and not overpowered. Again, we are the ones buying and playing your game not them.

      The sad thing is perks haven't been RPS in a while... since Stopping Power and Lightweight style perks were removed you basically picked Ghost or Flak.
      Having movement speed, stealth, explosive immunity, or better weapon handling was good balance.

    I'd prefer the minimap to show an area where gunfire originated from; not a specific dot, but a sizable bloom of red giving you a general location and forcing you to use your eyes and ears, not just follow the dots. Campers would still show up repeatedly in the same area, so it would still serve to promote motion rather than taking static positions.

      I swear I've seen this done in games before. A quick 'radar pulse' effect appears depending on the volume/calibre of the gun fire. Snipers for instance generate a rich red circle/ring which travels further out before disappearing, compared to a SMG being fired which is more translucent and doesn't travel for as far / as long.
      Imagine if this went one further and some '2D acoustics' were used depending on the map layout so it only showed you roughly which hallway ;) At this point though you might as well just use your ears :P

      i like this. in a way there's a balance. Or maybe instead of a bloom.. but there's a cone pointing towards where the noise was. Similar to how PUBG does it.. at least on the few games i've had with the mobile version (havent tried the pc version)

      Or like the high alert indicators but just for the minimap, so you get a general direction of where gunfire is coming from.

      There's plenty of room for agressive playstyles still, the matches in the beta were far from slow paced (in objective modes at least). If you havent played just watch Aces vods on twitch he was dropping consistent high kill games.

    a middle ground on map dots from gunshots: gunshots should highlight a region of the map. turn a room red if someone shoots from it. just don't say which corner he's in.

      Things this game punishes you for:
      -shooting (super loud)
      -reloading (no cancels)
      -walking (super loud)
      -joining late (perk disadvantage)
      -playing the objective (tiny cap zone)

    Why do people think that red dots are just there to run towards, they help to know if there’s a group of people in one room and they make it so you are on the move if you fire an unsuppressed gun and dont stay in one place on the map

      They help you predict spawns and better position yourselves for the next gunfight as well.

      I don't understand it either. Not only did we have suppressors/perks that kept you off the radar, but chasing red dots is a bad strategy anyway since you're just tunneling on a single enemy. At best, it'll get you a kill or two before someone else shoots you.

      Theres no way IW doesnt know this. It must be due to not wanting new players to get pushed and killed as easily and frequently and make it so they can camp for that bit longer, play the the game longer and thus have a higher probability on microtransactions. Whenever you think this doesn't make sense, just think how does this make money? This is the only reason I can think they actually have. It's a shame

    100% agree people feel more comfortable moving around the map when they have more information. Without those red dots people tend to sit and wait for those audio cues and it slows down the game imo.

      Absolutely. When I see the red dots cause someone is firing unsuppressed I tend to play more aggressive and push those players. No red dots is catered to camping. I can just stay in one spot head glitching or in a window with claymores on the doors. It’s boring.

    as you mentioned yourself, i do think it's fair to stand their ground and not want to change some things, but things like the minimap have a pretty strong negative response, and it has been a sore spot for COD fans since MW2019. it's not a deal breaker, but it's incredibly annoying how unwilling they are to consider any of the opposing view in regards to the mini map

      I think you’re being too kind. They’re making a game that they want, rather then what their players want. They’re not good at the game and their design choices suit them.
      They stated that they don’t want to punish people for firing their weapon. This literally blew my mind. Guess what is in the game that stops this from happening? It’s been in the game since Cod4. A fucking suppressor. Their reasoning is ridiculous and they should be held to account for this nonsense.
      What they don’t address is the fact that it’s worked fine for 85% of the other games, as well as other needless dumb changes like the perk system.

      so you want the exact same game year after year after year. Most of the people complaining, especially the streamers, will very quickly move on to warzone or the next game after insisting that the game is changed to best suit them.
      A good compromise would be a Halo type radar which gives direction but not specific dots.

      They could learn a lot from CODM.. red dots on a mini is a crutch.. how many time you see the streamers constantly looking at the corner of their screen where the mini map is..everybody runs a uav nowadays it’s not that big of a deal.. as a rusher you gotta use your knowledge of map awareness and respawn points.. plus ppl don’t chase red dots they chase the little skulls where their teammates died or you run opposite of where your team mates are at.. as for the suppressor it’s used more to minimize muzzle flash and weapon fire .. y’all quit whining so much

    I see an issue with having my team names/dots show no matter how close or far they are, even though walls. A few times I died to an enemy that had a blue dot over there head but it was just a teammate behind them somewhere

      As far as I can remember this problem also exists in MW 2019 - prior to MW 2019 I cannot remember andy COD having this issue.

    Their excuse for the mini map is dumb to me . There’s a few ways for players to stay off the radar. Silencers, ghost , counter uav. Even Vanguard added subsonic rounds for another way people can stay of the mini map. Smh

      @@younglord161 the minimap even helps casuals, which is why i dont get it, most people that are casuals are, the average gamer dad who sits down on the couch after work and usually doesnt have headphones, so their 3d image sound isnt going to help casuals

    although i did occasionally confuse teammates for enemies, I found myself confusing enemies for teammates more often. although i thought the blue dots above teammates were a nice edition in 2019, during this beta id see blue skulls instead of white skulls where teammates would die. so every now and then an enemy would line up perfectly with the dot or skull. I'd see blue and think friendly, but id just end up dying. they should maybe add an option to hide the dots completely, only make them appear when teammates are in your line of sight, or let us choose a range at which the the dots appear. i dont need to see a blue dot through a wall when my teammate is all the way across the map. if they dont wanna add red name tags, then a red dot above enemies would be nice too.

      It doesn't help that the South Korean operator on KORTAC has typical NATO spec ops gear despite being on the eastern aligned faction, makes it super easy to misidentify someone playing as him as one if the SPECGRU milsims

      I put comment just like this, I completely agree. Multiple times I have looked directly at an enemy thinking they were a team-mate, only to be shot and realize that blue dot was some one on the other side of the building.

    that is a good idea, id love to see them give it a try with a playlist that has an oldschool mini map and see what happens, if the 2 playlist are still 50/50 split or more stacked towards the new mini map fair enough, but if the playlists are stacked more towards what the online feedback suggests atleast then they know maaaaybe they should reconsider the mini map, doesnt mean they will change anything, but it shows them what people are enjoying more which should be atleast one of the focuses for them .

    I'll preface this with, I'm a lifelong dedicated gamer. even this series. I don't play anything "casually" and I agree with the changes they've made. CoD needs changes to continue as a series.
    What is extremely sad is the number of people throwing tantrums over this; saying how the ENTIRE community is telling the Devs. that they have to change it back; then pointing to AT MOST the opinions of 35-40k players as if that is the entire community.
    I'm usually more eloquent in other comments about it but here I'll just say it plainly: to those people it's a case of "Shut the hell up. You're not special."
    There are literal Millions of people in the CoD community; just because 30k or so are the vocal ones doesn't mean they get to decide anything or speak for anyone else; and honestly, they've gotten away with doing so for far too many years.
    For every one of those people who hate the changes I guarantee there are hundreds who don't and vocal or not, IW has access to the play data of us all. They don't necessarily need to be told one way or another what is making people want to keep playing or is making people quit doing so.

      Because we are not the majority. We are the minority by far. Casuals make up at least 80% of the playerbase. How do I know? I had a 1,4kd on my main account and made a second one with busted stats (0,2kd,). With my main account it took me about 1-2 minutes to find a lobby. With the bot account it was a couple seconds. Ping with my main account hit 100-200, Bot account 20-50

    Suppressors would have to be dead silent to justify using them, but that may not even fully help because enemies would still be able to hear footsteps

      They help on groundwar maps in MW2019. Don't they also remove tracers? That's how they help. If you need silencers to stay off the minimap, a big section of players would basically never use anything else. This way, there's at least some more variety.

      @@kevinvandeventer8690 both because I use a headset and hair brush to hear game audio… and then I also hear elephant footsteps of anyone close. Most of the time someone uses gunfire to find an enemy in a game mode that isn’t SnD, it’s when someone is shooting at them, in which case they’d hear the bullets regardless of if they’re silenced or not

    Re: mini map dots. It seems to me that IW are simply moving from visual ques via red dots on mini map to audio ques via gun fire. I think if they make suppressors virtual silent it will be more balanced and then its just a matter of time for the community to shift from visual focused feedback to audio focused feedback when assessing and engaging in gun fights.

    the reasoning about the dot on the minimap is correct under the condition that casual and low skills players actually look at the minimap and use it to push when they see a dot. My impression (maybe i'm wrong) is that just good players look at the minimap in order to play aggressively while a casual or a low skills player don't look at minimap at all or at most to preaim in the right direction instead of push

      I personally mainly use the mini map to see where the enemy is spawning. I guess a good way to explain it is I was chasing groups of red dots and trying to flank them.

      IW have always been the worst COD studio. People have rose-tinted glasses when it comes to the original MW2, every single IW game has either been deeply flawed or straight up bad.

      @@toadalthug4055 Infinity Ward havent made a COD since MW2, this studio is Infinity Fraud, a makeshift thrown together studio after the actual infinity ward Dev team left Acti to Form Respawn with EA mid way through MW2.
      hence why theyre absolutely DISGRACING the name MW2 with this game

    The biggest gameplay issue i had was the footstep audio was WAY too loud and clear. You basically felt like you were stomping around the map, and i ended up getting into the habit of jumping everywhere because it sounded quieter to me. Enemies a floor above you sounded like a trex stomping through a forest.
    The ui was fine, but the attachment levels were kinda bugged out. Levels would stop before the stated cap (like 16/17). Also the gunsmith progression screen was all sorts of bugged out for me, screen would never seem to focus where the cursor was

      Yeah the footstep audio was basically a built in wall hack. They did such a good job with the accuracy and distance but then they had to go and make them so loud again like in 2019

      They purposely limited the levels of guns for the beta. The progression thing is indeed a bug. Footsteps feel right since soldiers are gonna be loud wearing everything, and all you have to do is walk if you feel your too loud.

    They said they don't want to punish players for firing their gun when they could just put a silencer on it, but they want to punish people for moving without a permanent way to move quietly. They directly make their intentions clear in this blog, in that they want to protect campers and punish rushers.

    Totally agree with the red dot showing up. Pointless putting a suppressor on now, but it does mean we can use a different attachment as it effectively gives us an extra mod slot

      Realistically suppressors don't do anything to range or damage negatively as it lengthens the barrel, but from a gameplay standpoint in casual modes it is pointless, in hardcore it can be a little more useful (in my experience atleast) but at the end of the day it is just a player preference whether you're willing to take the drawbacks and what not

    Maybe the red dots should only appear within a certain range, say an unsuppressed assault rifle shot would only show up within 30 metres or so on the map with the different suppressors reducing that distance more or less.

    I suggest a compromise on the minimap. What if the red dots only show up if they fired a weapon within a certain proximity to you? That way you won't be seeing people all the way across the map but enemies nearby will be easy to find

      the problem is that shooting gives away your position, so having the red dot show up when someone else is right next to you puts you at a severe disadvantage, but if someone is all the way at the other end of the map then it doesn't really matter because the red dot won't be able to show you exactly where they are - it will show up on the edge of the minimap which is pretty much what you'd be suggesting anyway

      Yes, but what you're saying is already accomplished with game audio. You're not going to hear gunshots on the other side of the map as well as you hear one in the very next room.

    tbh I prefer it the way it is right now, seeing the direction of the shot but not its exact source. They could make seeing the red dots on the map a perk, then everyone's happy. Or if it does come back I'd rather the dots be very brief, like lasting as long as the gunshots, maybe a bit longer for sniper rifles. Or that could be when using a less effective suppressor against the perk.

    I'm deaf and have been playing since COD4. If I have to deal with being at disadvantage all the time for not be able to hear the enemies' steps, guns firing and a lack of communication, then you'll just have to deal with not able to see where your enemies firing their guns on the mini map. Is that what a UAV is for? You want to see your enemies, then earn the UAV and use it.

    Your feedback is incredible. You literally hit all the points I had in mind that would improve the game. I just wished that IW stayed true to their philosophy of the different player types. It seems like they are kinda saying that it's time for us older players to move on. I get they want to innovate but removing mechanics there were not broken and replacing them with gimmicky ones isn't the correct way to approach it.

    I think A) if you're firing an unsuppressed weapon that it SHOULD be punished. And B) Even if they don't want to put the EXACT location of the person shooting it, they should compromise by at least putting a sort of red area marker on the map of where the gun was fired from. Like, not an exact dot on the map representing the player, but maybe just a bigger red blot on the map in the general area of the map that the gun was fired.
    This kind of meets in the middle. This way the player themself isn't completely singled out, but opposing players have a general idea of where to go hunting for them from the location of the gunshot. This still gives them plenty of time to leave the area, but wouldn't allow them to camp one spot easily. And of course gives more reason to actually have a suppressor on your weapon too. Meaning you could actively counter this by sacrificing one of your 5 Gunsmith slots to do so.

    I think the COD influencers/UA-camrs/Streamers are missing the forest through the trees with what IW's intending to do with MWII.
    For the OG MW2, they amped up the pace of gameplay from COD4, much to its detriment, in my opinion. This started an endless arms race of COD games getting faster and twitchier, ad infinitum.
    When IW reset the clock with MW2019, they intended to slow COD down. At the time, it wasn't intended to become a tactical shooter, but they started showing off blueprints for a slower, more tactical COD. MWII, to me, appears to be a game that wants to punish reckless, fast-paced movement and incentivize slower, deliberate play. This runs counter to how a lot of COD influencers play (and especially the current WZ audience). They won't budge on certain things because the play styles that folks have become accustomed to in Warzone Pacific, Vanguard, and BOCW are not play styles they want to endorse, nor the direction they want to take the game or their franchise in.
    The low TTK, punishing fast movement, loud footsteps. It's all there to discourage you from rushing out alone and getting kills with high movement speed. Rather, it's to herd you towards deliberate team play. You don't breach a building or round a corner by yourself, you do it with a teammate. That's how they want you to play.
    The only thing IW needs to address is bunny hopping and we'll have a really great game on our hands. Perhaps toning down jump height would make that action irrelevant as a tactical advantage.

      Even though I would love for a triple a insurgency sandstorm, you have to realize it is more than just influencers that play cod that way
      Cod multiplayer has always been a game filled with immaturity and toxicity and you’re not going to be able to change that by gameplay alone
      Even games that are setup entirely around team play struggle with all players actually playing well
      Battlefield 3/4 still had sniper campers and cs go and siege still have large greifing problems in lower ranks
      Cods player base will be even less likely to ever play the objective or as a team because that’s just the people that play cod
      They want to get their nuke and kill streaks and post clips to tik tok, not play as a team and win
      I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but I do think it’s just kinda tone deaf of infinity ward and honestly kinda pointless
      With as popular as the title has become in society you’ll never be able to completely escape the confines of the player base
      The only ways to fix this is to introduce some kind of ranked matchmaking with actual penalties for failing to be a team player or to simply split off from the Call of Duty franchise and create their own new game with the freedom to split mechanics and gameplay functions up the way they want for the kind of game they want to make
      Mw2 is promising as an enjoyable game for me but I think the series is struggling with wanting to be an entirely new game and appeasing long lives cod fans simultaneously which usually doesn’t work out well (ie: halo)

    what is absolutely boggling my mind is IW’s stubbornes in forcing us to play with game mechanics and systems that don’t fit a CoD game and have no place in it.
    the main three points are the minimap, dead silence, and the perk system.
    As for the minimap, we literally had 11 consecutive years of call of duty where you’d show on the map if firing an unsuppressed gun, and people who wanted to camp camped, and who wanted to rush, rushed.
    then for dead silence, i honestly am unable to wrap my head around their concept of it as being this unmatchable advantage, i mean ok you’ve got quieter footsteps but it’s not that i can’t see you or hear you mantling, reloading or switching weapons, which are just three actions that anyone is doing pretty much all the time.
    and this perk system… we’ve had 15 fucking straight years of cod with the three tiers of perks and it’s always worked well, nobody needed or wanted a rework to it and yet they shove it down our throat and basically tell us to shut up about it.
    for all these mechanics it’s not a 51/49% between the community, it’s literally NINETY PERCENT of people wanting to not fix something that wasn’t broken to begin with.
    i’ve been playing call of duty since 2008 and have never skipped one, and honestly all this bullshit makes me wonder why i’m still wasting my time with people who simply do not give a shit about what we gamers would like to play. at this point they could just release the game without any beta and never publish any update or balancing patch, would be at least much more coherent with their behavior towards us.

    I think that what they're trying to do is innovate and make this COD feel different from the rest. They seem to know that we're tired of getting the same game every year, so they want to change how things work completely. Although I think some people overreact and aren't willing to adapt to anything new, the new minimap change feels a bit unnecesary to me. I feel like a good middle ground would be instead of showing the exact position where the dot was fired, put a round area around it on the minimap (like this🔴). If a suppressor is used, maybe the area could be shrinked or hidden, but at least people could run unsuppressed guns without feeling like they are completely exposed if they don't use them.

      Innovation is fine, but IW is reinventing the wheel here which is unnecessary. The yearly cycle over 15 years caused the devs to run out of ideas and start changing things that don't need changed for the sake of change.     The only thing for me is that I like the no nametag thing. I think it's better for those of us who prefer stealth based playstyles. In the past someone could be positioned in a bush, and you'd see their nametag, and you could easily get a kill on them. But now, it makes you have to think who is your ally, and who is your foe. It makes the game more strategic, and I think actually increases comradery with players. You have to know who your allies are and support them. But maybe that's me..
    - I also agree with you on the perk situation. I think they could go more role based. You take a stealthy perk.. well now a perk based on support roles is locked out. But if you run an lmg, and you take a perk which helps you withstand some more damage, or maybe reduce your flinch, and you can't take a stealthy perk etc.. I think that could be a good option.

      @M P exactly. I can't recall what the name of this map is. But it had huge fields and this little shack in it. It was a Russian based map, and it also had afew trenches spread around the map. Anyways.. so I was in a bush by a trench and some tall grass. You'd think I was concealed right? Well the player on the other side of the trench, far off, had other ideas. He sniped me. And he either had to have seen my nametag, or used a thermal scope. If it's a thermal scope that's fair since it's a tactical advantage. But too often events like that take place just because of someone's nametag. No option to get rid of it.. which is one of the reason I loved MW2019s Realism mode so much. It made things more strategic, and if you played in a squad, you really had to work with them for safety and to achieve victory.

    I honestly am starting to think that the respawn system paired with the no red dots is an effort to make the matches feel like they have higher player count. Instead of killing someone, and them respawning 'in their teams spawn', it just plops them with a team mate so it feels like there's never a moment where you 'wipe' the team. I don't think I like it.

    I'm half deaf, so I've relied heavily on the red dot on the minimap to figure out where enemy gunshots are coming from. If listening for footsteps and gunfire is how they want you to find enemies in MWII I don't see how I'm going to be able to keep up.

    Im sad to hear about the removal of nametags. I dont have great eye sight and have always kinda relied on the nametag to see enemies better and ive used perks like marksman or the flashlight attachment in other cods for this reason. i havent played yet cus im on pc but this feels like it could be a dealbreaker for me and other people with bad eye sight. A compromise could be like how they solve visibility in cod mobile with bright red dots on the character models, but that solution is kinda ugly and imersion breaking imo.

    My biggest issue with the current mini-map system is not knowing if an enemy player gets killed. If I can hear an enemy shooting and I see that one of my teammates is shooting back at them, once my teammate stops shooting I want to know if the enemy is now dead. Even the killfeed doesn't really help with this as I don't know who each of my teammates are.

    Really appreciate your clear call out to the devs regarding the mini map. You outline it perfectly!! Every CoD player in the community wants the traditional mini map… why are they so stubborn with this? Mind blowing really.
    There are so many goods in this game (visuals, map design, new weapon levelling, TTK is fine although slightly slower would be ideal, not including slide cancelling, score/kill streaks options, modern setting, Ground War game mode!). Just give the community what they want; traditional mini map, tone down the footsteps and introduce a ninja perk… and adjust the perks to your suggestion (start with normal perks immediately and add the pro version). It would make the game so so much better…
    Especially with the odd out of character changes to Warzone 2.0 (slow looting and removing loadouts; mind blowing again they would take this route)… we need a good MP for sure!!

      Please don't act like ace pretending it's to the benefit of everyone. He wants certain changes because they benefit him. I want the mini map removed outside of uavs and other equipment that ping on it, and I want it completely removed in hard-core. Besides, you have a compass that gives you the direction of unsilenced shots. The pro perk idea is completely terrible as well. Learn to actually play the game correctly instead of complaining about footsteps, it's not hard.

      You don’t speak for me and a majority of players. I don’t want the minimap dots or ninja back because in every older game it made them meta. IW did something different with the MW2019 minimap and it worked until people cried that they needed a nap present. They moved the dots to the compass and it serves the exact same role as the map by leading you towards the location based on the size of the red dot.
      People need their handicaps to help them feel like they’re good at the game. I’m glad that IW is not adding those features back.

    Probably my favorite feature that they have added is that reloads pause when you swap weapons, when you swap back to the mid reload gun, it resume where it left off before you paused the reload animation.
    Say you reload an LMG, you’re halfway in the reload, you hear someone, you swap to your pistol, kill them, swap back to LMG, it immediately starts the second half of the reload animation instead of starting over again.

    everything you are saying about red dots, dead silence and suppressors is exactly my frustration with the modern call of duty. I have always been the flanking playstyle. I am quite skilled at being able to sneak behind the enemy and take them out from unexpected locations, but that style is being completely destroyed by the current format of the game. I love cod and it is still so much fun to play, but I would just love to be able to go back to my old play style as it was so much fun to be able to do that.

    They're easy kills. You're onto something here. What if their data shows that a lot of players are bad so they are the easy kills and get frustrated so they quit and that's why no dots. Not because good players will abuse it but because bad players will hurt themselves with their own lack of skill

      If you look back in history, the cod community has complained about literally EVERY single game. I remember mfs complaining about bo2 and mw3 ALL the time "it sucks, they changed zombies, they changed this and that" later on it was "last good cod was bo2" now those are "the best games ever, why dont they make them like they used to?" Cod community some of the most indecisive, hard-to-please, toxic mfs in the gaming community i swear.

    One of the difficult things with the red dots is also related to
    Parties disbanding. I can’t control how the random next to me runs his gun. If he is not using a silencer and shooting next to me my silencer does not much for me. I am no longer moving in a stealth route to flank. Would like to see lobby disbanding stop , let me communicate and build relationships and team synergy with people.

    Okay with regards to dead silence: why don't we get a dead silence perk and have a seperate field upgrade that increases movement speed that you can extend with getting kills like lightweight field upgrade but if you use lightweight upgrade it negates the dead silence perk to some degree ?

      How about a dead silence perk that reduces your footsteps slightly each time you kill an enemy until like 10 kills where they become completely silent. When someone is on a kill streak, the perk will be displayed on the banner that appears so people know they have dead silence.

      So dead silence is unfair and makes people have to use perks to counter it which screws up the whole point in haven perk options because if people can run dead silence you have to run a perk to counter it which is really dumb and only players who can't play well like dead silence I've never used dead silence ever except in warzone for the speed boost only stealth perks there should be is tracker to follow steps ghost to hide location from uav and cold blooded for thermals and automated kill streaks which even that one I kinda disagree with atleast on the thermal thing ghost and cold blooded is more than enough to be God like for rushing I know because I run all three and can spawn rape a whole team of 10 by myself in dom and go like 80 in 8 so he needs to quit crying about his little cruch perk it's just as bad as last stand it's unnecessary and unfair and no there has been maybe two games in the whole franchise that actually had a way to counter it even if I had turtlebeach headset on turned up to max I still couldn't hear a dead silence user in the old games he needs to get good instead of whining about it like it has an extremely quick regen and last more then long enough as a equipment to wipe a whole squad in warzone we don't need it as a full on perk.

    To the point about enemies running toward you when you appear on the mini map being easy kills, and "punishing" then until they learn not to do that so often. My question to you is, what do you think happens once they learn not to do that? Does that inspire confidence in moving quickly if it only gets them killed? I would think they wouldn't bother. I just think this is in direct contrast to your point about mini map pings getting people moving, making me question who this is actually for.

      Naturally in a lobby with people around your general skill level, a situation like this you'd expect the other people to think about the next approach if they actually want to kill you and stop your streak, especially if you're using the red dot as a ping to just patrol an area and generate agro while in a strong position.
      Stuns, cooked grenades, waiting until you hear them shooting to push, etc can all be used to catch someone off guard and it's rewarding finally killing someone you know is on a big streak or is dominating your team.

      The mini map really doesn't guarantee you a kill at all so it really doesn't benefit you much, especially since people use ghost and silencers.

    I just got a refund for the game via PS support today. Contact them today, told them the game sucks and they gave me a refund. The IW post basically says "we hear your complaints but we arent going to change anything" - related to maps, dead silence and perks. So they can make the game they like, i dont care anymore since i resold MW back in 2019 after 2 weeks. I'm not even bothering to resell this as a refund is much easier

    I want to give credit to Infinity Ward for clearly articulating their design philosophy regarding the minimap and dead silence in their blog post. It has been really difficult over the past few years to understand the vision behind each iteration of CoD. Whether it was a truncated development cycle or Activision mandated changes (i.e. lobby breaking, matchmaking), I've wondered what was going on. At least now I don't have to wonder.
    It's a simple call for me; I play videogames to have fun. The MWII Beta was not fun. So, I'm not going to play. I'm not going to rail against IW or players who like IW's creative vision - to each his own. I'm going to find other games and activities I find fun to fill my free time. That will still include vids on Ace's channel since they are some of the best on UA-cam.
    I hope everyone has a good time - whatever their gaming choice this fall!

    They said aways back that they were going to dial SBMM way down in this new game and I feel like they are trying to compensate for that by removing things like mini map dots and slide canceling, and they're trying to slow the overall pace of the game way down. They probably figure since SBMM isn't going to be as prevalent, slowing the game will protect the casual players from higher skilled players. The only thing they care about is keeping the main player base on the game spending money for as long as they can, and for us that unfortunately means a lower skill gap.

    The worst part of the perk system is that it punishes lower skilled players because they won't earn their bonus/ultimate perks nearly as quickly and since ghost is an ultimate perk then it makes UAV's massively overpowered in the early stages of the match

    I’m actually very happy with all the changes. I stopped playing cod because of various reasons, but the things that got me to pre order were no red dots while firing, how the perks changed, how dead silence isn’t a perk anymore, and that there’s no more slide cancelling. I know for a large portion of the community these changes may not be welcome, but for a much larger portion of the community that just stopped playing altogether, it’s very welcomed and needed. Cod wasn’t fun for many casual players after a certain point, so it’s good to see them trying to make new changes to serve new and old players instead of just sticking to the same base community.
    I do wish that there was a better progression system for the perks, and I also hope that they give silencers some other advantage. They’re fun to play with and should be given more of a point.

    hey Ace, i know these are not the most important topics at the moment but i still feel line this has to be talked about, maybe there are others that do feel the same way? let me know
    first up i think someone has to look into the „play of the game“-system after every match, it simply does not show the highlight right/cuts of parts of the play (almost always just stops at random parts - it looks like something is broken with it and the playermodels just start to fly around the map. this has been an issue since the release of MW2019 and has been in call of duty ever since (which i dont really understand, because it cant be that big of a problem to fix it right) and has to finally be fixed after 3 years in my opinion.
    the second thing i would really think would benefit the game are „leaderboards“ or something where we can see various types of stats like we had in mw 2019 - a player was able to see how high he ranks compared to other players and his friends aswell which was really cool, you create some sort of a competition -> this keeps players wanting to get better and play the game to grind out their winstreak or whatever they want. another thing that has to be added again is the clansystem and also implement the same stuff vanguard had - seasonal clanleaderboards or stuff similar to that would be insane to have

    Better communication than the 2019 beta. I'm not quite as unhappy about the minimap as others are, so it's definitely not a game-breaker for me.
    Still not sold on the new perk system, but if they adjust it so that ultimate perk builds up fast enough that we're not halfway done with a game before I get to it, I can probably live with it.

      They should adjust the times from 4 and 8 to 3 and 6. That means you will definitely have your perk for most of the match since it's not hard to earn the score required to get them fast.

    The extra conformation from having a red dot on the map when an enemy shoots isn’t necessary. The audio is good enough in COD games that it’s pretty easy to find out where someone is shooting from.

Also if you get killed because someone is camping, now you know exactly where they are, if theyre dumb enough to still be there, you have a much bigger tactical advantage.

    Keep the un silenced mini map red dots OFF it will open people up to use other barrel attachments other than a just a silencer. Ittl still be loud, you'll still hear where it generates came from (like real life) but you just won't know exactly what building and that he's on the third floor inside.

    What if there was a “well tuned” perk that allows dots, say something about trained ears helping locate enemies. Even better if they would switch to your pro park idea and have the pro version make footstep audio louder, while significantly reducing it without the perk and have a double whammy solution (and a huge crutch perk lol)

    I've said this once I'll say it again, make a piechart enemy activity indicator on the minimap, or better yet, highlight areas on the map where enemies are shooting (ie highlight a room in a house.) Just a little more imprecise than red dots, but enough to encourage moving around and give the player a reason to use a suppressor.
    As a side note on the suppressor, they recently stated that muzzle flash is going to be important for being able to spot enemies, so maybe a flash hider could also be a good pick for a muzzle device in the future.
    Dead silence as a perk is something I am personally against. Along the lines of reload changes, dead silence being a perk encourages people to consciously decide when to use it. Maybe it could use a buff such as muffling your gunshots as well, but I think that forcing players to think strategically is ultimately a good thing. I will say however, that while i believe this is the reasoning behind it being a perk, IW really should have communicated it better; they made it sound like they were punishing people for moving around, and I think what they meant to say was that people should choose when to use dead silence to flank tactically rather than keep going gung-ho and rushing behind enemy lines without any trace on minimap or footsteps.
    There you have it, that's my two cents, I think ultimately we will have a great game regardless of how IW handles the minimap and dead silence, and I see a lot of people getting unnecessarily riled up over it.

      You are mixing field upgrade and perk. Dead silence or Ninja should only lower your footstep audio, not make them silent. Bring awaraness also for those who want to listen to footstep audio. Also make Ninja/dead silence, awarenesd and ghost to same perk slot.
      Edit: 6 vs 6 multiplayer is and will be unplayable camping mess in one month like cod 2019 was if they don't change footstep audio. Minimap changes, undecided what to think of it. SnD may work though in 6vs6.

    They’re the developers but that doesn’t mean they should make every decision based on their own opinion. There’s a community for a reason. Real talk, who are they to decide how we play the game? Are they really COD junkies and good at the game? Do they play enough to have a good opinion on how the gameplay should be? I personally don’t think so. They should listen to their community because they are definitely in the minority regarding the mini map.

    I have an interesting idea about what they could do with the perk system. What if they did something like the killstreak/scorestreak system where you can either choose to keep the old perk system but you can do the new perk system but you tradeoff either going with 3 perks the whole game, or you start with 2 perks but can get to 3 and 4 during the match. Maybe another thing you have to tradeoff if you go for the potential 4 perks is you can only choose 2 killstreaks/scorestreaks, so you trade a killstreak for an extra perk you earn during the match.
    I think it's something that could be considered and is a little bit similar to the specialist package from games like MW3.

    Enemy locations should only pop up on the mini map when a UAV is active. Knowing exact enemy locations on a mini map is basically cheat mode. I had no problem finding and locating players based on the compass and my teammates actions. We were constantly moving and engaging. We don’t need a copy and paste call of duty with every release. Let this game be different.

    Personally, all I want is for SBMM to be toned down or removed and placed into a ranked playlist. I really miss having lobbies stay together, and not being thrown into the end of a game with my team getting stopped on over and over again. If they don’t remove SBMM I’ll not be buying the game for sure. I can’t stand playing a game that prioritizes skill over ping in a casual playlist, it’s just not fun to me.

      Sbmm won’t be changed for a while. I don’t remember which studio said it but they won’t change the way Sbmm is bc it ruins their plans for future cod titles. If it does get changed it won’t happen till years to come

    The easiest way to adjust minimap is by showing red indicator, this would give player some information where their enemy might be. Btw the footstep sound is the real problem here and needs to be toned down massively.

    Removal of red dots is entirely to prevent campers. Bad players can sit in the same corner for a lot longer without the fear of being wallbanged, naded, or dropshotted by a good player with map sense

    Who are these casual players they are trying to protect?
    All my casual/lower skill friends stopped playing COD with me once SBMM/EOMM was introduced.
    The lack of red dots on the minimap along with the spawn system makes Team Deathmatch in particular horrible to play.
    The flow is all over the place and there’s no way to know where people will be coming from without a UAV.
    Never mind being scared to fire your gun, I found myself afraid to move position a lot.
    So not content with the matchmaking system deciding whether it’s time for you to win or lose, they now also want to force you to play differently. At what point is the game playing you, rather than you playing it.

    I agree with your ideas regarding dead silence. I was stationary in MW 2019 more often versus the older MW2 that had a dead silence perk. I recall the softer footstep audio that a good headset could still pick up with good player awareness. I was still able to drop nukes against teams pushing me with dead silence perks. I likely will be a stationary player again in this new MW2. However I still would like (1) rushing stealth class mixed in my (9) camping classes to flank against those specific enemy play styles. It would be great to have that variety of play style in my arsenal.

    I respectfully disagree with your comment on the loss of suppressor effectiveness. At first I was in the same boat where I thought traditional mini map would be better. However, as I played more and thought about it, I actually think it's a better idea to have it the way they've designed. This eliminates the absolute necessity for running a suppressor and opens up viability of other muzzle attachments. Suppressors still dampen your weapons signature making it harder to pinpoint your location, and reduce your muzzle flash. Allowing them to still be viable but not a crutch attachment.
    I do agree with you idea for an A,B test though.

    I'm loving the beta. I don't care about red dots on the map. I go towards the gunshots. I expect enemies to be on the opposite side of the map as my team. MW 2019 and MW 2 just fits my play style

    what annoys me most is that the majority of the cod community has been asking for the original mini-map for years now, it was an immediate problem when mw2019 released. Also like you said a suppressor was originally used to hide you on the mini-map that was its primary purpose to as they say prevent "players from being punished for shooting their weapon" now its just for muzzle flash slightly reduced sound just seems wasted.

    SUPPRESSORS -still have a place , i feel like UAV's are always up and that is when players show up as a red dot. so by having a suppressor you dont show up as a red dot when players expect enemies to be a red dot and so you can still get the drop on them .

    Maybe the stealth perk could reduce the radius at which your footsteps are heard while also making them not go through walls or something. The problem with sound dampening perks is that they can be counteracted through audio settings.

    Really good positional audio is awesome. But it's kind of annoying to rely on, in an arena setting.

      Totally agree. I think accurate audio cues are great but they shouldn't be so prominent that you can essentially throw out all other awareness skills and just rely on audio alone.

      You also have the issue when the killstreaks and guns blow your ears out when you're trying to use that audio. It works in R6 siege because it's a very slow and methodical game where every sound is important. Knowing that someone is sprinting in the hallway behind me that doesn't connect to the room I'm in is not anywhere near as important in call of duty as it is in R6S.

      @@TheXclusiveAce いっそHALOのトラッカーシステムみたいに視覚的に足音を認識出来るシステムがあれば良いのですけどね
      年寄りゲーマーにヘッドホンで音を聞き分ける作業は苦行です
      個人的にデッドサイレンスをパークに入れるのは良いですが、それが常に機能しない方が良いのでは、と感じます
      BO2の様に回遊魚の様に走り回って交通事故を狙うゲームになって欲しくはない
