I can understand very well. I spent a number of years in the music business myself and have seen many of the artists to have this very same type of personality that you described. They weren't bad people either just had a very large ego that was hard to contend with. Some of them it broke their careers. Some of them it didn't. I agree it was a sad end to a great Christian Metal Band. Sadly the great ones really are not doing much anymore.

I had the ability to meet Roger and Georg Ochoa who was playing guitar for him at the time at the Praise Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA following a show they performed there. It always saddened me to see Roger go off the way he did leaving Christianity and converting both to satanism and then atheism. Both individuals seemed like very down to earth and incredible people. The show itself was awesome. I believe it was a tour for this album actually.

Of course HS was so much better. and Once Dead, also....Destruction Comes had Roger doing the guitars and it was poor production compared to the great work of Larry and Doug from the first 2 albums. I remember being so let down when i got this album..I had followed VR since 1988 and the first 2 albums were all time classics.

I guess he was never a true believer, he just used the scene, even though he knew scripture as well as any devil.

Steve Rowe's destroyed Mortification as well as his friendhips with Michale Carlisle, Phil Gibson, and Jayson Sherlock. Ted Kirkpatrick pulled a bunch of backstabbing legal moves and took over Tourniquet completely because he wanted everything HIS way. There are so many others I could go through but these were the biggest. It's been hard to watch the downfalls, honestly
Man I'am a die hard vengeance rising fan. The first time I heard vengeance I listened to about 30 seconds and turned the video off but over the next couple of days I could not get a nuff of these guys. Hard core thrash and death metal take time to get use to. But they are my favourite band and it is hard to find good bands like these because I only listen to christian metal. Except for the leads which were played by Derek Sean. Roger is basically miming the solos here.
Ric Wood He also played the majority of the lead on Mortification's self-titled album, which Roger produced.
