You can legit arm an entire country with a new airforce with that kind of money. Or a fancy spaceship.
This is nothing less than an absolute win. These corporations need to understand that they are only as powerful as we let them be.
There's no win in this. And there's no way it cost 400 million. If you don't believe that that money is being siphoned off into diverse projects and agendas then you haven't been paying attention.
The 'modern audience' that they are making these games for doesn't exist. They make a lot of noise online about how inclusion and diversity should be at the front of everything. But when it comes to consuming the product, they aren't interested in parting with their cash.
Most major companies over the last 6 months are slowly coming to the realisation that inclusion and diversity doesn't pay but are scared of how they'll be dragged through the coals by the blue hair brigade online and how it will ruin their image.

And this is why You never hire CEO's who have never played a game before.
Or why you should'nt have far left extremist are in your company.
That is why I laugh when people just regurgitate "Game development is expensive these days". I mean yea you can make it as expensive as you won't but don't make it an excuse.
Concord failing is one of the biggest wins for consumers and PlayStation fans, probably since PlayStation’s inception. Sony was planning to make 12 live-service games and forced many of their studios to work on them. However, after Jim Ryan left the company, more than half of these games were either never made or canceled outright. The executives were unhappy with the direction the company was heading in. That’s why I think they didn’t want to give that much power to one person again, which is why they now have two CEOs for PlayStation, with another one overseeing them to keep things in check.
Likely DEI a hired a lot of overqualified social media personalities, but severely underqualified software developers.
Did this game even have any press?
@@mtgcatfish5993 none whatsoever as far as I remember

What are you talking about? Software developers have the least to do with the failure. The game didn't have problems with bugs, it had problems with art, design and marketing

Probably not honestly. It's more likely a studio of people who want each other to have high paying jobs. Lol.

Well, its very likely that Microsoft could make Obsidian make another fallout game after they end the development of its own now that Microsoft now owns Bethesda and Obsidian
Yea thats cute but it's like when you give directors a huge budget, they become complacent and waste that money on useless sht.
@@Peb02497 Obsidian isnt the same studio it was when it made F:NV. The actual people who work there are completely different now. Its like expecting the devs of Prey and Dishonoured to be able to make something on that level again when 80% of the staff that made those games quit during Redfall's production. Or thinking Turtlerock were going to make the new hit Left 4 Dead type co-op game when only 5 of the 100+ L4D devs were even on that team.
A dev studio is the sum of its parts, and all of the parts have been changed out and replaced. I wouldnt expect Obsidian to make a good or competent game ever again if Outer Worlds is their best showing with its new staff honestly.
This makes Verbalase's 50k hazbin animation comission look sane and reasonable in comparison.
Where the hell is 8 years of development and $400,000,000 in that game? It looks like something an Indie studio that has 5 employees made in a couple years.

How can someone see a hero shooter and think this kind of game is the future?!?
how can someone see concord*
Not a single video made on Concord in the last several months mentioned how Sony spent $200M+ dollars in Acquiring Firewalk Studios in 2021. That’s not including the debt that was the production cost of Concord.
Man, for that kind of money, imagine how many more amazing SNES - PS2 era games you could have made that didn't rely on their graphical fidelity to be good.
8 years and 400M$, they survived 5 days. lmao let that sink in.
Every single developer for this game need to be investigated for fraud. There is no way Concord costs $400 million.
They need to be put on a list so we can avoid any game that any of the developers work on in the future.
It is not the fault of the developers. They just follow orders. The problem is the people who are in power.

Imagine if Kojima had that kind of budget and leeway for Metal Gear.

Remembering how Konami treated Kojima for far less demonstrates how the "conspiracy theories" about ESG, DEI and BRIDGE aren't so far-fetched...
...and, quite frankly, it's scary. 😬
People hate on Phantom Pain but that game entered developement alongside Anthem and RDR2, think that Bioware put out Anthem in the same time KJP made PP and Death Stranding
Well nowdays it would go nowhere, Kojima said Metal Gear V was the ending. The series is finished.
Metal gear would look like cyberpunk 2077 and it would be the best game series in history. Just straight up.
It would be mgsv complete product edition
8 years if scamming the studio? Id say , fuck em, good for the developers, it was bound to be dogwater anyway.
I don't think the dev studios are even seeing their games as "Costing x amount to make". I think they instead see it as "We're being paid x amount of money to make this game." Then when things come to an end they suddenly realize, "Wait... we have to get back at least the same amount of money we were paid for the game?"
400mil? Even 8 years in development in a AAA studio....This shite was laundered....change my mind

There is no way this isn't money laundering 💀
Money laundering 100%.
What gets me is they threw 400 million dollars into this game and it STILL took them 8 years to release?!? that's some failure.
For comparison: Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty DLC (just the DLC) costed approximately $62.8 million, including partnerships with Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves. On top of that $21.7 million was channelled towards promotional activities such as trailer creation, influencer partnerships, and various marketing tactics.
The comprehensive spending for the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077, inclusive of the expansion's cost, tallied up to $316 million. And say what you want about launch of the original game, but the Phantom Liberty experience was just absolute cinema. And then Concord comes out with almost 0 marketing, and it costed $400 milion to make? This is insane.
Do note that CDPR had to massively overhaul their internal engine for the game, while i dont think concord really had such fundamental engine problems
It did have marketing though, concord, for example, during the may 30th state of play got a 10 minutes presentation with cinematic, dev talk and gameplay, a LOT of promotion. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals got less than a minute to show their gameplay to nearly 2 million viewers.
All that argument that concord had no marketing is bs, they had more marketing than black myth wukong lmao.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been forgiven and is pretty much well received now as well.
Yeah Keanu and Idris takes up about 25% of all the cost of Cyberpunk. Meanwhile Concord has exactly zero stars in it which would ramp up costs.
Literally the same budget as Avengers Endgame

I hope that this was some money laundering scam, because wasting that much money on a turd should be illegal.
It's corruption plain and simple.
A tenth is being generous they can honestly just do it with 1000$ if they were dedicated enough
There is ZERO reason why a game like that should cost that much. Even if it was an epic, world-class, AAA, open-world RPG adventure, I'd be blown away it cost that much.
To put it into context, Baulder's Gate 3 is estimated to have cost around 150 million. CONCORD though? Absolutely bonkers and a waste of money, even IF it was good. 😮😮😮
400 mil for a goddamn AI generated simple deathmach game 😂😂 soooo funny
Even Elden Ring only cost 200 million to make
