    Kimi is simply helping them to win.. It's much more demanding when its Kimi rather than massa, but that demanding helps the team to work better.. He isn't being evil, once it works he will thank them.
    We shouldnt call him angry.. of course he needs to be demanding when things dont work. Its how the business is done.. It's not personal against any one.

    The difference between Kimi and Fernando is that Kimi dares stating his dissatisfaction with things in public, whereas Fernando keeps a low profile. Him punching the air after finishing 9'th is as far as he'll go when being annoyed by the car.
    At least Kimi briefly had the fastest race lap during the race, which proves he still had the raw speed even in a less-than-stellar car.

    • @mattpike7268
      @mattpike7268 10 років тому +11

      Alonso is keeping a low profile because luca absolutely chewed him out when he publicly criticised the 13 ferrari. Kimi does state his dissatisfaction, but he is very careful to not criticise ferrari. Dont forget, to ferrari drivers are just the bitches that move their cars!

      Matt Pike
      If I were either Kimi or Fernando I'd stay with Ferrari for these reasons: 1. They are both in the final years of their careers and are not as hungry as they used to be when they were in their early 20's. Both have won titles and really don't have to prove themselves. Both are paid really well by Ferrari and even if they drive a totally abysmal Ferrari they still can seek consolation in their money. Kimi in particular is famous for living the "good life" when he's not racing.
      2. Neither of them will ever take the blame for the Ferrari being bad and know that. Heaven forbid if either of them were in a top car from another team and didn't drive as well as expected. Kimi has already won a title with Ferrari so they know he has it in him with another good Ferrari.
      The only way Alonso will leave Ferrari is if they sign Vettel, and a good seat in Red Bull becomes available for Alonso. Unless he wants to return to Enstone for a third driving stint with them. He could also do the bold thing and go to IndyCar, since he could extend his racing career in that series.
      In a fast car Kimi is unstoppable. In a slow car he becomes visibly frustrated and sometimes just drive the hell out of it without any regard if that may loose him a place or two at the finish. Right now the slow Ferrari is making him disillusioned.

    • @mattpike7268
      @mattpike7268 10 років тому +1

      Christine Fury I agree with 99.9% of what you wrote. The 0.1% is alonso going to red bull. I just can't see it happening unless red bull becomes more competitive. (Also vettel leaving seems unlikely) But on the other hand... ferrari hasn't been very competitive lately either, so it could happen!

    • @christinefury7839
      @christinefury7839 10 років тому

      Matt Pike
      When they get the Renault engine to work then Red Bull will once again be very competitive. I wouldn't even count them out for wins *this* year. Adrian Newey isn't going anywhere and once he improves the car enough, or starts working with the 2015 car from all the knowledge and data they accumulated from the 2014 season they will have a winner. Many believe that Red Bull are the slickest team ever in the sport.
      As for Ferrari. I do believe that their current organization has a lot of yes-men in it as many of them are Italians - who traditionally see things as a huge family affair with a very clear hierarchy in which things such as loyalty and "passion" are more important than bold improvisation from the "minions". Like some driver said:"Ferrari is a great place to be in when you're winning, but a horrible place to be in when you're not."

    • @mackervin5747
      @mackervin5747 10 років тому

      Christine Fury I seriously doubt that Vettel will leave his own team. Wherever he goes he probably wouldn't have the measure of power he does over the weaklings running Red Bull.
      That being said Ferrari in the last couple years have not really gone anywhere in their performance level. I believe it really depends on the other manufacturers and whether they can accelerate their performance past Ferrari. Eventually they will get it right, but for now the drivers will just have to deal with it.

    Of course Kimi is not happy with this car... Fernando and Kimi have entirely different driving styles. Fernando likes to attack corners, he wants his rear to be grippy and front to be flying in the air. Kimi wants his front bolted to ground and rear end loose.
    Kimi needs car that suits him, while Alonso is more adaptable. It is possible that when car suits him, Kimi is faster than Alonso, but when he gets the car that does not suit him Kimi`s perfomance suffers. Alonso on other hand does decently all the time. He won his 2 championships not becouse he was faster than Kimi, but becouse he was always consistent.
    Just compare Kimi at Lotus, Kimi with Alonso`s teammate and Kimi in 2016. At Lotus Kimi did outstanding job - and that was after he had been gone from Formula 1 for 2 years! Then as team mate to Fernando he suffers from reasons i explained above, while Fernando propably outperformed the car. Now with Vettel as his team mate and more similar driving styles, Raikkonen immediately did better, and in 2016 has even outperformed Vettel.
    In addition Kimi can keep his head cool. When he does not do well, he can still keep cool and just keep working on it. But look at Alonso at Mclaren Honda, he hates it (and can`t blame him). With Ferrari having big changes in the team and 2017 being season of big changes, Ferrari made decision to keep Kimi and Vettel rather than Fernando. Vettel and Kimi are both stabilizing elements for Ferrari in times of uncertainty and bad perfomance (by Ferrari demands). Fernando can not do that. And Kimi is latest world champion at Ferrari, that also must be important for Ferrari.
    2017 should be extremely exciting, Honda has lot of time to improve their engine, and cars are entirely different from 2016 cars. Can Kimi and Sebastian keep calm head and work together with the team to raise it to championship - or can Fernando adopt better, something he is excellent at - or will get frustrated if things don´t work? I hope 2017 will be Ferrari vs Mclaren Honda, that would be very exciting, and also likely, considering how much Ferrari has focused on 2017, and how McLaren and Honda, 2 giants, must have been working hard on 2017 as well.

      Good stuff. Highlighting both Kimi's and Fernando's strengths and shortcomings. Back in '05 they were very equally matched. Alonso was more consistent as you said, but Kimi (and McLaren) had more raw pace. Consistency and reliability won Alonso the title that year.

    A more shocking video would be, "Kimi happy with his Ferrari engineers."
    The Ferrari Engineers are a step behind when it comes to turbo engineering. They prefer engines with lots of cylinders. V-8 V-10 V-12's, I buy from Ferrari. V6 turbos, I buy from the Germans or the Japanesse. Which is why Honda is back in F1.

    The atmosphere in the Ferraro garage that year was absolutely awful. No ambition, no hunger, no will to win. Nobody looked like they wanted to be there. But how so much different it is now with Sebastian Vettel with Kimi Raikkonen, and Maurizio Arrivabenne etc. in the team now. They've never looked so ambitious, they look like a team that are hungry to win their first title.

      It's idiotic to make such comments. You are human being. You know what that comment was. Kimi is driver who has won multiple races. Lotus-Renault was a team that was not winner team. The team got too excited about the possibility that Kimi could win the race. Kimi just cooled them down with his answer, so that they would work, not be over excited. At the talent level that these drivers are at it should NOT take too long to adjust. I remember when Senna and Berger first teamed up at McLaren ('90) and Berger out qualified him in the first race, what did Senna do? He adjusted and won the next 2 championships ('90 & '91) with Berger as a teammate. Then in '93 a similar thing happened when Mika Hakkinen out qualified Senna their first race as teammates, what did Senna do? He out qualified Hakkinen the next two races (got pole on the last race) and won both races. That's what a true TOP talent driver does.
    This also shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone. If we look at the stats Kimi and Felipe were very evenly matched. As teammates at Ferrari Felipe out qualified Kimi 24 to 22 and when both drivers finished in the points it was even 11 to 11. Although when Fernando and Felipe were teammates Fernando out qualified Felipe 58 to 19 and when they both finished in the points Fernando again beat Felipe 46 to 5. Therefore looking at how both Kimi and Fernando did against Felipe as teammates, this asswhoopin that Fernando is giving Kimi should NOT be a surprise to anyone.

      Honestly if you truly think this would be the gap between Alonso and Kimi at any year, in any car, then you are just fooling yourself. The few moments when Kimi has been feeling atleast somewhat happy with the car, like in Singapore and Sochi quali, he was able to fully match Alonso's pace...unfortunately with F14T, those moments have been few, cause like James Allison said, the problem with the understeering (which Kimi hates above all) is something they cant get completely fixed during the season, cause the problem lies at the very basis of the car...they have only tried to make it better for Kimi and in fact the rumours say that in Sochi Kimi made it clear to Mattiacci and to the rest of the team that he wants new chassis to Austin..
      Either way, I think that now that Allison has lead the 2015 car design and knowing what the problems were with F14T, I think Kimi can do much better next year...just a shame that we shall propably never see another season with Kimi and Alonso in the same team....now people are just going to use this year as referance and no matter how well Kimi might do next year, I can already hear people like you saying "well Alonso would have scored atleast twice more points"...
      Either way with Alonso, you simply cant struggle or you are going to loose to him... like Kimi said himself "I would have been suprised if Alonso didnt beat me this year with all the struggles I've had" So ye, obviously Kimi's weakness is that he cant perform in car that has understeering issues, but in the end its the TEAM's job to get it sorted out and provide the best possible car for the driver to get maximum results with that driver. Alonso obviously is much better in that aspect that he can get most out of almost any car, but it would be foolish to think that Kimi couldnt do any better with car that suits him better.

      Balnazzardi While I agree with your basic argument that...'Kimi would perform better in a car that suites him better'...you are actually underlining my main point, which was my very first sentence: "At the talent level that these drivers are at it should NOT take too long to adjust." Or in other words the ELITE F1 drivers should be able to adjust to a car's characteristics that may not be to their liking and still get the most out of the car.
      Even though neither of us is clairvoyant (which makes yours statement true regarding the 'any year, any car' comment) if we look at the empirical evidence, which is the stats of both of them compared to the same drive (Filipe Massa) it validates my last point which is: 'This (asswhoopin) also shouldn't be much of a surprise to anyone.'

      fhpr68 Well this is what Kimi said short time ago:
      en.espnf1.com/ferrari/motorsport/story/177315.html
      "No, I don't see the point of me changing my driving style," Raikkonen said when asked if he had considered changing it to suit the Ferrari. "I couldn't drive differently any faster. The issue is not with how I drive but how we fix the issue, then we will have a good result."
      "I can drive around some issues but I hope we can fix the main issue and drive as I always do. I've been driving in Formula One for quite a few years and have never changed it and will never change it. It's not the right way of fixing the problems."
      So there you have it, Kimi doesnt even WANT to adjust, cause he knows that wouldnt fix the problem, I take his word of it that he wouldnt be able to go any faster by doing it.... and I atleast fully agree with him that the right way of fixing this issue is to focus on the car, NOT changing the way he drivers....besides if the problem (in this case understeering) can be eventually fixed (and it can, with new, better car), there is really no reason whatsoever for Kimi to try to completely change his way of driving...first of all he wouldnt even have time to do it, he is not young guy anymore and he has hated understeering cars his whole life, yet in NONE of the previous seasons he has had this bad problems with it, cause the cars have been much more easy to adjust for Kimi, but not F14T.
      If it would be about the new regulations, that they would somehow cause this problem and there would be no way to fix it, then Kimi wouldnt have any choice but just deal with it, but its clear that with better car (that hopefully James Allison can provide), Kimi should have much easier time next year.
      For sure there is no denying that this understeering problem (along with Kimi's problems get the tyres working for single lap in qualifying, which happens often but not always) are his greatest weaknesses, but Kimi is propably going to be in F1 for max. 2 seasons, so the problem simply MUST be solved by fixing the car....if Kimi was a young guy, with many years of F1 ahead of him, he might be able to do something about it (assuming that he even wanted to), but Kimi is running out of time, he is the oldest guy in F1 and he doesnt have the time or luxury to adjust his driving style to understeering car.
      Luckily now that Alonso is gone and Vettel coming in ( its pretty much certain) Ferrari has pretty much single direction with 2015 car, cause neither Kimi or Vettel like understeering car, so Ferrari really has to succeed with its car designing or else both of their drivers will struggle next season.
      Like it has been said bout Alonso's driving style, its quite different from others, its not the fastest way around the track, the way he drivers, but it allows Alonso to be much more consistent with almost any kind of car...but the way I see it, in one way its good for Ferrari that he leaves, cause now they really MUST succeed with the car development if they want to have success, if they fail with the car, they dont have any longer Alonso there to "outdrive" it.

      You are so stupid...unbelievable....Massa had in 2009 his big accident, do you really think that he was at the same level when he came back in 2010 ? And Kimi and Alonso had like equal cars in 2005 and Kimi destroyed Alonso, Alonso won the title because Kimi had a very unreliable car and what about 2007 ? 😂 Kimi drove in a worse Ferrari and Alonso had the best car in this season and still lost so you can not say that Kimi is slower than Alonso 😂

    Hopefully kimi will start being more competitive with alonso! He finally out-qualified him, but was still beaten by him. Both kimi and ferrari are in poor form this season so far.

      ***** Yes, I forgot about that! Lets see how china plays out this weekend! I predicted on a f1 chat site that alonso would finish the season 25pts ahead of kimi. I think It may be much higher if kimi continues performing poorly! Still early though.

    raikonnen is still learning..LMAO.i have a better explanation.raikonnen is WAY SLOWER than fernando.ricciardo is dominating vettel the 4 times world champion and is WAY MORE inexperienced than kimi.either you are faster or slower.the learning period has already passed for kimi and thats a fact.

      ioannis giannakopoulos people change their abilities ? I think the drivers know it better than you on which level they are driving....Alonso drives his top level, Kimi drives his top level and this from year to year and just watch the 2014 season radio comments....Kimi always complained about understeer which he hates absolutely and Alonso loves it....

    Kimi is overrated?do you know about his years in mclaren (specially 2003 and 2005 when he came 2nd in those championships)? yeah he didn´t won any championships but could if the mclaren f1 car was more reliable. Fernando is overrated not kimi.Yes Fernando is doing better this year than kimi in the same car but don´t forget that kimi is struggling with the ferrari !!! Like vettel is struggling with the redbull. But still i think kimi is better than fernando !!!
