never felt so seen than when Wendigoon mentioned the 3 fears of childhood: quicksand, Bermuda Triangle, and spontaneous combustion. I was especially terrified of the latter.
Remember “documentaries” like “In Search Of”, “Believe it or not”, “UnXplained”, “Unsolved Mysteries”
he forgot to mention being trapped in a room where all the screens are covered with youtube screamers (that was the scariest thing I could come up with when I was 6)
What about the ozone? Whatever happened to that 😂
What happened to quicksand? I swear there was this great quick sand terror to the point they taught about it in schools. Now nothing... did we kill all the quicksand?
Do y'all remember 1000 ways to die? that show fucked me up

You wake up, you look at the sky, the plane flies over the clouds, but something wierd happens, it starts to fall right at you, it is getting closer, you pray to all the gods that names you can remember, all of the sudden the plane disapears, you are confused, but then you remember...
YOU are the bermuda triangle
You look up. You look in the sky. It’s very sunny, and clear. You are flying in the sky, to travel. Then, you realize that you hear some strange noise. You look down, you see that your compass isn’t working, and your falling into the sky. As you start falling down, you look in your mirror and remember, you’re Epstein sinking into the Bermuda Triange

The Bermuda triangle: every child had thoughts about it sometime. And thought they would have some kind of encounter with it some day.
Almost nobody thought they would encounter it lol.
nah fr i was like why is no one investigating this should i do it ???
I always thought it was a narrow death triangle that couldn’t be found due to destruction/communication issues but was generally avoided

Kurt Cobain's death would be an awesome episode. I know the Cobain case is pretty open and shut and while I don't really subscribe to the tin foil hat theories concerning it (especially anything that comes from Tom Grant. That man is a snake oil salesman trying to make money off of a man's death), there are some pretty interesting details that kind of make you almost consider believing. It'd be fun to see some other people look into stuff like Kristen Pfaff's mysterious death a month following Kurt's death, the Seattle police ruling it a suicide before even starting the investigation (as well as Courtney's connections with the Seattle PD prior to Kurt's death), the famous note, the weird coincidence that Courtney was having lights replaced in the exact obscure spot that Kurt was found, the famous "too much heroin in his system to even operate a gun" etc. It'd be really interesting
YES
I wanna know too, my best friend was watching some crackpot theory documentary about the whole thing and by the end of it she was like "okay so I don't doubt he did it but there is some sus evidence there" isk I just wanna hear about it all in one video, from these guys and not tin foil hat wearers😂❤
@heehoopeanut420 it's such a hard thing for anyone to even remotely take seriously because of all the crazies involved. But that investigation was highly suspect to say the least
@@JammerAmanah his death was definitely an assassination. Courtneys involvement is debatable but its not likely he killed himself.
I never believe/take much stock in it when they say “too much of x substance in their system to function” or “had enough of this substance in his system to kill 10 ppl” etc. Most people don’t understand how tolerance and addiction works I guess. Like yea if you did the dose some huge addict did who’s been using for a decade you’d die immediately, but that’s just enough to get this guy well, or a little high. Tolerance is a crazy thing, the human body/brain is crazy.
You can build enough of a tolerance to where you’re using an elephant tranquilizer that’d put a rhino to sleep, but just make you feel normal. When someone gets their tooth pulled they might take one pill and be messed up, while another person could take 60 of them and the only danger would be if there’s Tylenol in them, not the actual narcotic itself.
Basically it’s all relative.

One thing about rogue waves thats terrifying is that they dont line up with normal waves. If your ship is dealing with big waves and pointed towards the motion a rogue wave can hit you from the side making them much more dangerous than a simple big wave
Maybe it's just me, but I always get the feeling that Charlie has little interest in recording this podcast. He always seems so quiet and bored. It kinda makes it awkward when Isaiah and Jackson are having fun and cutting up... and Charlie is just stone-faced, rolling his eyes like he thinks this whole thing is dumb, only occasionally laughing at anything. @@wolfiemuse I watch his videos though, I know what he's normally like. He's usually more talkative and willing to partake in the conversation, and laugh when people are joking around. This episode is better than some of the others though. However I maintain that he seems more bored during the Red Thread than he does in most other things he does and I just wonder if he really enjoys doing this.
For the discussion on the "fire" Columbus mentioned, that is very possibly a phenomenon known as "Saint Elmo's Fire", a plasma-based occurrence that was documented during sea voyages such as this and is an occurrence on modern aircraft. It is in essence a blue glow that is generated around objects like, say, a mast, due to the shape and structure, that is most common during events like thunderstorms or volcanic eruptions, it is also known as "witchfire". It is entirely replicable and was named after St. Erasmus of Formia I believe, often shortened to St. Elmo, who is the patron saint of sailors, but it can form on land as well given the right conditions. Another thing about how Columbus describes whatever he saw is that, for lack of a better way to say it, back in the day people loved to use very "artistic", or a tad exaggeratory, language whenever they saw something of interest like that, so he could've seen a sunbeam hit his eyes and called it a mighty plume of flame.
Small addition: Magellan himself actually reported seeing St. Elmo's Fire on his voyage, so make of that what you will, just an additional tidbit

My 14th great grandpa was Stephen Hopkins, he signed the mayflower compact and was one of the survivors of the island. Spaniards had brought pigs to the island and the natural fauna meant that he his conditions truly was better than Jamestown. He was also the only person to travel to jamestowns back to England than came back on the mayflower. His stories of the Bermuda Triangle are very interesting.
It was actually Leif Erikson a Scandinavian explorer who was the first who discovered North America a whole 500 years before Columbus's arrival
Oh yes, Christopher was the first one to set foot in Cuba/Bahamas though. It’s kind of crazy how the United States schools get that wrong.
Columbus and his groups voyage was the one that actually spread that information across Europe and got people to eventually start exploring and settling though.
@@JohnJameson11 yes but despite Columbus spreading word he was still not the first

You mentioned Atlantis, you should REALLY cover the theory that Atlantis was positioned on the Eye of the Sahara. One of the most interesting wild theories I've ever encountered.
I fully believe Jimmy Corcetti's theory that the Eye of the Sahara was the City of Atlantis. Many other possible relics will exist all over the place, because Atlantis was an Empire. Thats why there's so many different places that people point to. Its like trying to pin Romans down to the city of Rome. They were however, everywhere.
There was a Joe Rogan episode like a year ago where a couple of guys came on and went into some great detail about Atlantis potentially being located in Western Africa (eye of Africa) and near Spain.
What makes it “wild” exactly?

@@alphooey YES SINKHOLES!!
I heard Mr. Weller took a trip through the Bermuda Triangle and went missing for three days.
When he came back he was, different. More relaxed and chill, almost like he just took some extra days on his vacation.
Columbus wasn't sent to see if there was land to the west.
Long story short, when Eastern Rome fell, so did the silk road. So pretty much all the goods coming from asia to Europe had stopped, or was very expensive to get. So Columbus said if he sailed west, he could find a new way to India.
What people aren't teached is if you look at a map from that time period, India is right next to a bunch of islands. Mixed with the fact he most likely never even met someone from India before. He probably just heard stories that it's jungle place, with brown people.
So, with his limited knowledge, he probably actually thought he was in india. While we now know, he "discovered" a land mass now one at the time knew about. Yes, technically, Lief Eirkson "discovered" the new land first, yet with him, it just became more of a myth.
