Citizens of the Imperium, we are the Death Korps of Krieg. In the darkest of nights, in the bleakest of moments, upon the most hellish of battlefields, we men of Krieg will fight, without complaint or compromise till our last dying breath. For in death, we atone for our sins against the emperor. Pray to the emperor you never need us and on the dark day when you do, know the emperor hears your prayers and we are coming. For our duty is to the emperor and to you. To all enemies of the Imperium, pray to whatever false gods you have that you never face us, for where the emperors Death Korps goes, hethans such as yourselves will know fear and pain. For we are the unstoppable hammer of the immortal emperor, and no force can stem the tsunami of our wrath.

Looks great! Finally, after 14 years a game that reminds me of Paraworld.
When i played the campaign i thought the exact same thing.. especially in the cutscenes..
Oh snap I forgot about paraworld I need to find a new download for that game.
Dude, there's a game called Warparty on the Xbox one that is the successor to paraworld

I like the immense explosive power of the Saxonian mechs and how they have technology specifically for the great war.
You cruel maniacs, you really want to release a Stiefmutter onto the battlefield. Wouldn't a Hausdrache have been enough? Have you no compassion with all the poor lasses and lads that have suffered at the hands of a Stiefmutter since pre-historic times?
I like how the Saxon mechs are needlessly over-designed, with overspecialized abilities. Shows how decadent the Empire has become, putting more gimmicks into their army than it needs rather than what's practical.
In what gimmick saxon is ?
Well, to be honest this is how real world weaponry and machines of war works. Most weaponry and most tools of war are built for specific purposes rather than being all-round mediocre tools of war. Take something like artillery in the real world. It is useless if used from mid to close range and aren't really that effective outside of shelling big targets. Take nuclear and hydrogen bombs and missiles, they're only good at killing indiscriminately. Take something as simple as a heavy machine gun which is only a covering weapon, it cannot work well without a squad. This is just taking that logic and applying it to sci-fi warfare. It would be advantageous to build mechs for very specific purposes if you had the manpower and resources to both build mechs for any situation and to support them with other mechs and men on the ground. Something like the Stiefmutter or the Erlkönig would never operate individually or alone in a realistic theatre of war - they would be heavily guarded support mechs, that would be difficult to reach and which would make it VERY hard for the enemy to respond to whatever operation said mechs were supporting!
One is the biggest mobile artillery platform in the game, and thus outranges everything and can be very safe on a battlefield if supported by an advancing army and a garrison, while providing artillery support that cannot be answered. The other is a mobile ground torpedo platform that would likely advance just behind the army and be sent in with support to release a barrage of torpedos at points of the line that needs to be destabilised before an advance. These are both RIDICULOUSLY effective weapons of war and are a hell of a lot more effective than most of the all rounder mechs if we applied real world military logic to it.
Thats not decadence thats just how Germans build things in general.
@@ButterBoyism laughs in AK
If anything in this game is built practically they would have used wheels and tracks instead of legs
I hope that this universe grows it's a really awsome idea
There is also a turn based tabletop game (there is a pc version on steam too) set in the same universe called Scythe. I was kind of hoping Iron Harvest would be that, but with real time battles. I hope they can add a Scythe-like campaign mode in an expansion.
oof
I wonder if they're going to add Albion, Togawa, and Chrimea as DLC factions and campaigns.
Nice resistance referance
@@zalekvoris1517 Not a resistance reference, they just misspelled Crimea.
(Edit: The Crimean Khanate, Clan Albion, and the Togawa Shogunate are playable factions in the board game Scythe, set in the same universe as Iron Harvest.)
@@boxcarz I mean, one of the characters in prologue mentions the "Northern Kingdoms" and "Shogunate" possibly joining the war (tutorial is set before the war) so I took that as a possible foreshadowing? Maybe? I hope a little bit
AzureSkyCiel so is there a Ottoman like faction. I ask because well obviously they were also in WW1 and Arabic styled Steampunk mechs would be a design I'd be impressed to see. Imagine a Great Bombard with arms and legs.

I play this game and Stiefmutter is a truly scary mech. Build 3 of these and it can wipe out waves of enemy.

The Stiefmutter is scary cause its name is synonymous with child abuse. Like the real deal, it threads defenses with needle-like precision and explodes where you are most vulnerable.

Fun fact: The military term "Shock and AWE" popularized in the early 2000s Does Not describe a psychological effect.
It's actually a mostly logistical term in assessing weapon effectiveness:
Shock (Amount of boom, basically) VS. Air Weapon Effect (on the ground impact)
Basically assessments used to determine which munitions should be used for which task.

In this world if someone invents something called "Tank" mechs would probably be outclassed immediately
I hate to be a killjoy, but Tanks can be spotted in one of their trailers. Tanks still wouldn't replace mechs due to it having superior firepower and armor compared to tanks.
Lets just remember that Iron Harvest occurs after the Great War (WWI), the most effective tanks were the french Renault FT-17 tank, somewhat the British Mk. I - V and (although it never was used in combat) the Char 2C, and all of them we're slow (no more than 20 km/h, i guess?). If we compare all those mechs to those contemporary tanks, the mechs have some advantages over them IMO.
Pacheco Soto eh it not really however this is a mech game and it should be fun regardless. I mean mechs arent even possible with current technology in military applications.
Really looking at this through a non scientific lens and more is it cool and is the gameplay should be the focus we take.
@@parkerlong2658 I could'nt had said that better

*Trailer start
Narator : *Intense Inhales
Watching these trailers after finally playing the game, they leave out some of the best mechs in these (obviously to find out for yourself) like the oh-so-glorious Isengrim which is a "light mech" but is able to punch pretty damn high about its weight class and armored enough to allow it to survive about anything in its own class. Heck, all of Saxony's mechs save the grimbart seem perfectly capable of toppling the heaviest of mechs.
You got that right, cause with the possible exception of Usonia, Saxony has the best infrastructure to experiment, refine and obviously over-engineer their mechs to perfection.
Oh my, i thought Saxony flag symbol is a black eagle or the iron cross

Iron harvest: For the tsar...
Dawn of war 2: For the emperor!
Iron Harvest is one of the greatest RTS, not because it's gameplay is any way exceptional, but because of its intriguing story and fascinating alternative yet, "not too far off from our own" universe. Best part is that the Germans are "NOT-zis" (cue finger wag) and way cooler! In fact thanks to this game, I see Germany as a badass nation of rich culture and historical contribution instead of the textbook cartoon villain regime Hollywood fondly makes it out to be, ala the Galactic Empire. The fact that the developer "King Art Games" is German makes sense why Saxony is the games most balanced faction. It's so fitting for Germanic efficiency. I hope more German people are exposed to this game and get their national pride back. Best case scenario, this game will inspire the people to "make Germany great again," enough to one-up Uncle Sam as a military superpower, if not build actual mechs to go with the package (close to the mechs in Heavy Gear/Votoms at least).
This would make a great film or even a series.
These vehicles are so impractical you'd think this is the 40k universe.
this is such a cool RTS left a like
If this game had exclusive variants of the different mech unlocked by research, the game would have probably stayed on my mind more

Does somebody thinks that the PKM - 17 "Eisenhans" slowness is a great flaw to try to beat a Straznic?
Eisenhans is indeed quite slow, wish they would improve their speed a little bit. Takes them ages to get into position which is a shame cuz I love the unit, for its name, quotes and appearance
At this moment, November 2021, developers have not tweaked Pkp 17's speed yet, but buffed their armour.
Earlier I thought Eisenhans exoskeletons were kinda underpowered (especially their artillery damage comparing to other power armour), however their cost is even lower. Seem to be balanced. Honestly, I wish they would add a special veteran ability.

Saxony refers to the German state where the city of Dresden is. But yes, Saxons also live in Britain and Germany as they're both Germanic tribes.
So Rusviet: Close range, Saxony: long range, and Polania: balanced/rush/economy ?
Guess I'm going with Saxony then, I prefer long range and armor and the fact I can fuck over the fog of war.
Actually between Polania and Saxony it's vice-versa:
